2019 Goals

It is time to set some new goals for the new year. Last year I had a laundry list of goals and did pretty well with them. Only one was a compete failure! I like to post my goals so I have some sort of accountability. It is too easy to have a checklist and hope for the best. This way I feel like I have to update the list as it is public, just what works for me I guess. I am again using the SMART goals method to help with results. Again there are a lot of goals but that is what keeps me motivated!

If anyone else wants to join in please do so (the more the merrier), maybe we can be motivation for each other :cheer2:

Anyway, here are my goals broken down by category:

That was a super impressive 2018, Comicguy!

I’ve had a pretty productive last few months, so I’m feeling motivated to keep the momentum going!!

Financial
Have June Florida trip paid off by May. (Will probably be using tax refund for a big chunk of this.)
Start saving for cruise planned for 2020.
Set money aside for daughter’s college expenses.
Save money for Christmas. (I have seven kids, so I try to shop all year round.)
Set aside money for the roof. I think we’ll need to re-shingle soon.

House
Continue decluttering. Aiming for 1000 items, hopefully more.
Get new couch for upstairs living room. (This one is a must; currently have two recliners that have seen better days. I’ll be hosting Christmas Eve in 2019 and I’ll need the extra seating.)
Once I get the couch, I’d like to get new dining room chairs, if I can swing that, then I’d like a new dining room table next. I’ll see how that goes. The dining set isn’t absolutely essential, but would be nice to have. DH is in his last year of school, so these aren’t very high priorities right now.

Kids
Really push the extra reading and math practice with my 1st grader.
Encourage healthy eating choices and trying new foods for my two picky eaters.
Throw a nice graduation reception for my senior.

Personal
Continue to embrace the power of “no”. (I no longer feel bad about declining things I don’t want to do/have no interest in, like Tupperware parties, etc.)
Continue to keep the joy-suckers out of my life. (Life is too short to associate with folks that are negative all the time and leave me feeling drained.)
Read one book each month. (Taking Comicguy’s lead here, but starting on a smaller scale. I use to love to read, then I remarried, doubled my family size, and reading for pleasure got put on the back burner!)
Do/get one thing for myself each month. (I turned 40 in October, and it really hit me that it’s time to treat myself more.)
Loose next 20 pounds. (I’ve lost 20 since October, but I’m pretty sure I gained back at least five from Christmas Break.)
Start walking more. (I can do this in the winter at either the old mall by my work, or the enclosed college football dome close to my house. I really have no excuses here given the close proximity.)

Work
Continue keeping my inbox tidy.
Delete old files I no longer need or have saved somewhere else.

I think that’s everything!!

Comic-Con is a comic book convention to buy/sell comics, meet artists and writers, and all things pop culture

The 5000 for the corvette is just the starting of the savings to put down for a used model in a few years :)

for me it is lose weight-25 lbs. would be good. This is needed for my health, not just to be thin.
stress less over things that aren't all that important.
be kind, by this I mean always be positive, and reach out to others. I really believe everyone needs that. I don't know what others are dealing with. I am shy and struggle with reaching out first.
keep trying to be more organized. I have been working on this one!
Lots of other things I should set as goals, but then I would be overwhelmed!
and somebody said read 25 books. I like that. I am adding read more to my list.
WOW! I forgot the biggest one I am thinking about which is to get my grocery spending under control.

My DH and DS have done some large Cons the last few years. DH is not into it really but it has been a great bonding trip with our adult son and they've had some cool photos taken and fun experiences.

They met and got a photo with William Shatner at one and then Lou Ferrigno and Ric Flair this year. DH is a lifelong weight trainer so Ferrigno was cool for him. DS is a huge Trekkie so he also has photos with Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, and Robert Dorn. All names may be misspelled as I am not a Trekkie.

Good luck with your goals!

My goal last year of having $1000 minimum added to my bank account each month failed miserably. I have only myself to blame. This year I am determined to get rid of my worst spending habit which is eating out too much. It takes more out of your finances than you think. I've been tiring of restaraunts serving me mediocre meals at high prices anyway. If I eat out it will only be for special events and emergencies, and not when I'm too lazy to cook. If I have a craving for something I will see if it's something I can get from the grocery store first.

Aside from that I would also like to use 20 lbs. I was making great strides with weight loss in the early half of last year but fell off the wagon during the later half.

Within a few years time I will be at a point where I may have to stop drinking soda entirely. It hasn't done good things for my head or stomach.

Last year I started doing some pretty good decluttering but I still have a long way to go. This year I need to focus on sorting out the massive amount of clothes I have collecting dust. The house I'm currently living in needs fixes pretty much everywhere. I think the outside should take priority first. Lots of landscaping that needs to be fixed and the like.

OP, I see you have "run annual credit reports" in your list. In this day and age checking on your credit report once a year is not enough, you should be actively monitoring them. This can be done for free via Credit Karma for TransUnion and Equifax, and via Experian for Experian. You can even set up free alerts so you are alerted when anything changes on your credit reports.
-they will try to sell you packages (especially Experian) for monitoring but in my experience those aren't necessary
-the FICO score from Credit Karma is more of a "FAKO" as they calculate differently than most companies who will pull your credit but what you're after here is the data in your credit report anyway
-both Credit Karma and Experian have apps
