Just for historical purposes, we booked our summer 2016 cruise in March of 2015, so we're looking at next spring at the earliest. This year, I believe it was a little later than usual.

I'm wondering if they'd consider a stop in Belize? We've done sporadic cruises since 2001, but I've never noticed a stop there. I have a girl in the family now who really wants to go there (NO idea why!), and we're planning a cruise for a graduation present after the youngest three exit college in May 2017. Probably January or early February 2018 ... hence the curiosity about the possibility of Belize on the itinerary.

I'd think you'd have to look to some other cruise line for a Belize stop.

Hmmm....I'd be suspicious of that. I've been in Belize and it's VERY easy to score opiates and controlled substances, you basically walk into any pharmacy and they sell to you...if you are an adult. There is a pharmacy right off the port that advertise every drug you can imagine, for super cheap too.

I think my next DCL cruise will be in the winter of 2018 on the Fantasy, guess I have a long wait in front of me.

Wow! I had no idea that Belize was quite that way ... I live in a bubble, I think. I'm sure the girl who lives with us has no idea either. She's even greener than I am! It doesn't really matter ... we will certainly take a Western Caribbean Cruise with the Mouse in January or February of 2018. Give the kids a chance to graduate from college, and ensure they're all over 21! Thank you for letting me know what the social climate is in the area of Belize! We have NO desire to visit an area like that.

I really don't think that would impact a cruise port stop.

My daughter spent a week there while in college and she had no problem at all and they didn't stay in any pretty tourist areas.

You might want to google your port stops on the Western Caribbean cruise if you are worried about Belize.
