we are planning our first WDW trip in Jan 2018. We have 2 little girls, will be 5 and 2 at the time of traveling. I have been planning for a while, decide to get DDP for the trip, since we will do a lot of Characters meal and dinning/show package. After I did the math, we would save a bit by doing DDP. However, as we all known now, the price of DDP 2018 will increase $10+, and also include acholic drink as well. Now it is complicated if the DDP is worth or not. As I mentioned, we will do lots of character meals, AKA, buffet style breakfast, e.g. Bon voyage at BW, the princess one in Epcot, lunch at tusker house, dinner at Hollywood vine n dine, so my question is, do they provide acholic drink at buffet/ family style meal? Especially at breakfast? I read somewhere that the dinning credits are not separated for quick service meal, so can we order acholic drink if we are using my 5yo credit?

Thoughts on the new DDP in 2018? Thanks a lot for your opinion!

We don't know how it will work. Theoretically most breakfast places have mimosas and what not

For qs, yes credits are pooled. Can you order multiple alcoholic drinks? Or will it be limited to the number of over 21 diners.

Until it rolls out and we get actual reports it's all conjecture

The real question is do you want to drink at bfast????

I do not think anyone is sure how the plan will actually work in terms of CS credits. Right now the CS credits are pooled, but who knows what will happen in 2018? I have to belive that Disney could separate them but so far they have not. WIth alcohol in the picture they may have an incentive to do so.

a Disney adult starts >9 years. That still won't fly with the CS credits.

It is going to be interesting. Once you introduce 'free' alcohol, rules have to shift. Can't purchase a beer for a child. Have to be 21 or older. So even separating credits into 'adult' child doesn't resolve that issue

I did the math and still not worth it. Even with the booze. For a family with children planning multiple character meals though, it would be worth it. And yes, they do have alcoholic beverages at buffets and even at breakfast (unless it's the Magic Kingdom, only a couple of restaurants there will have any alcoholic beverages at all).

Unless they change things, you can order anything with a CS credit. They are not distinguished between adults and children. Will they change? Don't know at this time.

Thanks for the replies, I did the math earlier today, since we are doing all characters meal

Looks like your post didn't quite finish here. Just in case you're not aware, your 2 yr old will not get a dining plan. You either feed her from your plate or buy her a meal. At buffet she can eat anything she wants for free.

Thank you so much. Not sure why it was cut off. Yes, we will make reservations for characters meal only, which I think are all buffet/family all you can eat style, so my 2 yo should not be a problem. Only one I am not sure about is CRT, do we pay for my 2 yo?

No, 2yo doesn't pay at CRT. and if you're doing all character meals, your 2 yo won't pay for anything (but also won't have dining credits so if you're at a regular restaurant or a quick service and you want a kids' meal for her you'll need to buy it.) But she can also share with the rest of the family.

Thank you for the information, we plan to have character meal for TS, and share the QS meal for the rest.

To add to the PP, not only does the 2-year old not pay at CRT, but ours received a waffle to eat at breakfast without us even asking.
