2017 room rates

If your checkin date is before January 1st, you can make your reservations. I reserved my room last month for December 31-January 6 at All Star Sports for $127. I think a day makes a difference. If you aren't arriving until January 1 or later, you have to wait until June 21st to book.

You can book room only right now for 2017. They use 2016 rates. I've seen here that they use peak rates for 2016, but the rates I've been booked at for May 2017 don't seem like peak rates. Seems more like regular May 2016 rates. I've already paid in full for my room, so I'm locked in to my rates. Obviously if they run any promotions, I will have to rebook on 2017 rates when they come out.

I figured at the pace of rate increases at Disney, I could be looking at a hearty adjustment come June 21 if I didn't go ahead and pay in full. I will get park tix separately once those are realeasd.

So we will be able to book online June 21st? Just curious, I thought I recalled having to wait until July in years past.

It was June 22nd last year, and July in the years previous to that. It was announce a little while ago that it will be June 21st this year, officially.

You should absolutely be able to. I booked my room (May 6, 2017) back in March. I'm fully balance paid for my room as of right now. So I don't see why you couldn't book now too. I'm in Alabama too, so it's not like I'm over seas or anything.

I've got park tickets and dining plan booked as well as the room. I think it has to do with when your arrival date it.

How did you do that? I can't select a start date for my trip past 12/31/16 on Disney's website.

You will need to call. Their website, as previous posters mentioned, won't be updated until Tuesday.

My thought was "Let me lock in this 2016 rate." That way, it can't go up. But if at some point some discount comes out that's better, I can always adjust.

I'm guessing a 15% increase from 2016. But the time of year we are going, they usually offer RO discounts of 30% for deluxe, 20% for moderate. So I can still save a few bucks if the discounts are the same as they have been historically. Just in case though....

We are going almost the same time you are (looking to arrive 4/30), which is why I was asking...so if I book something and a discount comes out, can I call and have that applied to my reservation or will I need to cancel and re-book? I've never attempted to adjust a reservation after the fact.

Unless things have recently changed, you are not locked into those rates. Once the 2017 rates are released, your reservation will be adjusted to reflect the new rates as booking and paying in full does not lock you into the current year's rates. Disney allows guests to book RO 499 days out (by calling) by quoting at the highest rate for the current year and adjusting the reservations once the new rates come out.

The only time you have to cancel/rebook is if you change reservation types (RO to package and vice versa). Since RO and packages are separate reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. As far as a discount, as long as what you have booked is available under the discount, you can have it applied to your existing reservation. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.

This has been our experience as well.

If you are feeling adventurous there are a few travel sites that are offering 2017 rooms at set rates for some properties. I'm looking at going March 12-15. Very busy time and easytobook.com has CBR for $206 a night. I've used them once before with no problem. Very tempted to grab this. If you search on Trip Advisor on desk top and via the app (not always same results) you'll see a few places selling 2017 rooms.

I have booked a RO twice before the rates came out, and was always told, over and over again on the phone, that the rate was NOT locked in, and would be adjusted to the next year's rate once they came out. It was never more than a few dollars difference, but it definitely did change. I would not assume that you are locked in, as that has not been the case before. Did they actually tell you when you booked it that you were locked in?
