2017 DISNEYLAND RESORT HALLOWEEN TIME / MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY THREAD!

No news yet...

I keep wavering between sticking with my Halloween plans or taking a Christmas trip. Wish I could do both, but just can't. My kids haven't seen DL during the holidays and I think they'd LOVE it!! But I'm anxiously awaiting the Halloween announcement to see if any possible changes seal the deal for our plans!

How long are you going for?
@Sherry E How quickly does DLR change over, a couple of years ago we went to WDW for Halloween and crossed into Holiday season, we caught the last of the Halloween partys (we went to the MHP at DLR on the 29th, then had Halloween at WDW resorts on the 31st then went to MNNNHP on the 1st) then caught the first few Christmas parties on about the 10th (we went to 2 and I cant remember if th 10th was the first or 2nd party we went to). We went to MK on 3/1 and I was amazed at how all the Halloween stuff was gone and how much Christmas stuff was up already

Well, if everything works the way it normally does, some Holiday-ish things will begin appearing even before October 31st (they have to start slowly sneaking in the Christmas things early, because it's such an extensive process that has to be complete by the time the holidays begin). The last Halloween party should be on October 31, I would guess. The Main Street pumpkins should begin coming down immediately after 10/31. The reason for this is that if ABC tapes any kind of holiday special, Main Street will be one of the backdrops for it and they have to have it looking Christmasy by the first weekend in November (if the taping is on that first weekend in November).

Right after Halloween ends, it will be a gradual process of putting up more Christmas decorations each day until the holiday season officially begins. Some things soft open before the official start date, though. So if the Holidays start on 11/10 this year (which is what it is looking like it will be), then some things could soft open on 11/3 or 11/4, such as It's a Small World Holiday. If the holidays were to begin on, for example, 11/15 -- in the middle of the week -- then there would be soft openings on the weekend immediately before.

I wish we were staying that long! My family is a 3-4 day max family =(

So at this point do we assume party dates are not coming out today?
@Sherry E whats your next date pick for the announcement?

It could still be today (it's only 2 p.m. Pacific Standard Time). But the next guess would be tomorrow. I hope they don't do something crazy like wait until after the Expo this weekend.

Someone in a Facebook group I belong to mentioned that the call center times at DLR have been extended next week -- so that leads me to think that the MHP tickets will go on sale to AP/DV/DVC sometime next week (even late in the week), as we assumed they would.

ROFL because that was totally in the advance booking email the Disney visa cardholders got and I completely missed it!

Was it there? I went to the websites and either completely missed it, or the info was just added in overnight. In any case, it's not like they are making it easy for us to find!

It's like a scavenger hunt getting the info! Yeah it was, just keep scrolling down in the email and you'd see a photo of Minnie in her outfit and the Main Mickey pumpkin in the background under the heading of "Amazing experiences..."

Sadly at the expo makes some sense if they are announcing new overlays.

Planning wise now I know that Halloweentime starts on the 15th, I need to decide whether it is better to go to Vegas between 12-14th or 19-21st. Do we think there will much advantage of one week over the other (given we will still be there 8-11, 15-18 and the 22nd)?
The 12-14th will have HM and SM closed, will 19-21st be busier? significantly? hours much of a muchness?

That's hard to say. Since you already have other definite dates lined up to be at DLR, it probably wouldn't matter which set of dates you choose for Vegas. Vegas will be very hot during either set of dates. I would assume that Disneyland would be somewhat busy (and also hot) from the 19-21st, especially if there are new ride overlays.

I would probably choose to get my Vegas trip out of the way and then just focus on the Disney portion of the trip, rather than Disney, then Vegas, then back to Disney.

Do you mean credit card offer? I think pblack said credit card offer.

I think it's just their screwed up IT. I got the advanced booking one for Disneyland and the reminder about the $50 referral, my Mom got the advance offer and the friends & family email, neither of us got the one mentioning Halloween info. Gah! Glad for the DIS so we can get the info all in one place.

Oh sorry - my mistake, I must have read gift card somewhere! Sorry for the confusion! I am a visa cardholder and didn't get the room discount email either, just the friends & family - side note, super bummed as it just misses our travel dates! We are arriving a few days after! I'm not holding my breath for a discount during our stay, as we are going to be in prime Halloweentime by then.

We have to be at Disney for DDs bday on the 11th. We have 10 day tickets that are good for 14 days and are really hopeful for a party on our last night (the 22nd) otherwise I will want to use that as a park day.
So either way it will be Disney/Vegas/Disney, we want to avoid Vegas over a weekend (going with 3 young kids so no point), heat doesnt really bother us too much, last DLR full trip it was 44!
Hopefully our hotel in Vegas will have a better pool than the Castle Inn!
I think I am leaning towards the 12-14th now (19-21st was when i thought Halloweentime would start on the 8th....)

Now is just all about the party dates....the 1st party on the 25th sold out last yer but not the second one on the 28th, maybe they have decided to start them later and cut one party out....

Oh, I see! Vegas is a usually different level of heat -- worse than California. So make lots of use of that pool!

There always seems to be one random party night that doesn't sell out, or it doesn't sell out until right before the party night actually arrives. I can't picture Disney wanting to drop down to fewer party nights when they could be making money, but maybe they are planning to cut a couple of nights out of the schedule in preparation for eventually moving to DCA next year. It's hard to say.

Im wondering since it seems to be that Halloweentime is starting 9/15, Almost a week later than the normal trend, that maybe the announcement won't come u til next week...

Well, now we can safely say that there will be no announcement from the Disney Parks Blog today. Now it's too late for a Halloween Time announcement, I think. So they have broken their streak of Wednesday announcements, which is really annoying.

Because of the later season start date (by one full week) this year, I would be inclined to agree with you, bigb83, about the delayed announcement too.

If Mickey's Halloween Party were also going to start later too (like on 9/29 instead of on 9/22), then there would be no reason to announce the news now, if they don't have to (not even to end our suspense).

The only thing that now keeps me thinking the Halloween Time news will come in tomorrow or at least in conjunction with the Expo this weekend is that the Disneyland call center times will supposedly be extended as of sometime next week (this is according to someone in a Facebook group I belong to, who was supposedly told about the extended call times by a DLR Cast Member).

That makes me think they are expecting a large volume of calls about something out of the ordinary next week -- and party tickets going on sale to the first wave of people sometime next week would make sense, because some people will have to order tickets over the phone. Even if the tickets went on sale on Thursday or Friday next week, maybe they want to get the CMs on the phone prepared and ready to take the calls.

Normally, there would be absolutely no reason for the Expo to cover Halloween Time. But if there are going to be ride overlays on 2 major rides in DCA -- one of them being a new ride that just opened this year -- you never know. We could find out about Halloween Time on Saturday or Sunday or something! LOL

Oh, Disney... why do you torture us so?

I really needed this announcement today lol, it is school holidays so all 3 kids are home, there is 140km winds and it has rained hard non stop for 24 hours, everywhere is flooded so we can't leave the house and the power has now gone out apparently until midday tomorrow, my phone won't last that long ahhhh

we are doing the Disney wonder cruise out of San Diego the week of the 17th. Booked last year. The plan has always been to disembark and book it up to the first Halloween party on the 22nd. If the first date is the 29th I better get prepared to devestate the kids.
