2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

So my training has gone to the wayside with my father passing away, another family emergency and then being sick for the past 3 weeks. I'm starting to get better but haven't done any training for the past 1 1/2 months. I have a 10k this Saturday that I was going to use for my POT, but if my pace is outside of what Disney requires, should I even bother? Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your Dad and this rough patch ❤️

Based on talk over on the wine & dine thread and on facebook it seemed if you put an estimated time under the 2:45 (use McMillan calculator for your 10k to get half time) you needed to have that proof to back it up. But if you put estimated over the 2:45 they didn't even look at proof of time and corralled you based on your estimated. Someone can chime in and correct me if I got it wrong but I think this is how I read people's findings.

Maybe it was to cut down on the number of POT they had to verify then. If you estimate a half over 3 hours, they probably aren't as worried about you being in someone's way, as you'll be in a later corral anyway.

Just had a great remix running weekend in Vancouver - scored a 1:18:30 10K on Saturday and a 2:53:14 half marathon yesterday. Both PR's!

Just updated my POT for my race registration - it's getting down to the wire to get a good proof of time for corral placement. Wish it was still 3:15 and not 2:45 - but I am getting closer to the magic number the more I practice!

You go girl !

So sorry about your father and other rough patches :( You might surprise yourself with your time or just enjoy the comradery of the running community at your race... Go and enjoy! :)

Thanks! That's less than I was thinking! I am sort of dreading the nervous waiting period before the race goes off.
It used to be longer - a few years back they had a smaller number of corrals (6 or so) with more runners in them that would start 8-10 minute apart (similar to what they do for the 5K and 10K now). Then they moved to more corrals (more like 15-16) with fewer runners that start 2-5 minutes apart. Seems to work out much better!

@miabellarose I'm so sorry that things have been so tough for you lately. Good luck on your 10K!!

Who all is following the training plan from the rD website? Today's the first official day of training! Woohoo!! Princess weekend will be here before we know it!

Me! Just walked in the house from my lunchbreak run of 45 min :-) I created a spreadsheet that includes the plan for beginners and for a time goal. My goal is to finish, and I don't really have a time goal, but I felt like I wanted to step it up a little from the beginners plan, and mix in some of weekends 800s....so I will probably end up sort of melding the 2...

Did anyone else staying at the Beach Club getting a message offering to be moved to the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian due to a refurbishment? I booked the Beach Club for the proximity to Epcot during race weekend. Not sure what to do.

If you're running the half, that move will give you monorail access for the race. :)

That is making it even harder for me. :) I love the Beach Club and the location but I also love the Polynesian. I have never stayed at the Grand Floridian so it would give me the opportunity to stay there and I don't know if I will have that chance again.

Way to go! I'd love to be a lunch break runner... maybe when it gets colder and I don't sweat as much :) I am currently training for my 10K on Nov 12, but then I think I might do a similar merger of the 2 plans!

I work at home, so I am lucky in that I don't have anyone here to complain about my sweatiness (besides the cat!) :-)
