Canadian free dining offer

We are another family that makes out great with free dining. We have a bounceback reserved for 8/26 thru 9/7 at CBR. I believe we are paying $185/night for a standard room. We are a family of 5, 2 adults, 2 Disney adults and 1 child. If we were to pay for the ddp, it would cost $260/night, so we are "theoretically" getting a free room plus $75 free dining every night. We use every snack/credit etc. If we have credits left over, we take expensive snacks home with us and eat really nice meals while we are at Disney. We LOVE free dining.

I get that each family is a different size and age and people have different preferences for where they stay but for my family, a room only discount can't even come close to FD. I have a FD package in June booked through bounceback. Our room at Caribbean Beach is $200, the current room discount is a whooping $20. For my family of 4, both kids being Disney "adults", the dining plan is a value of $240. Even if we could eat for half that paying OOP (a big stretch!), we are still way ahead compared to room only!

Agreed! We are another family that benefits greatly from the free dining promotion. We've used it many times and always do better with that discount over the room only discount. We had it in 2011, 13 & 14. This past December we did not have it and we really felt the additional cost. We eat the way we eat regardless of free dining or not, so for our family free dining is just that...free.

WE generally do better with the fd athan RO discounts too. A lot of people assume that their family savings apply to everyone else. People need to crunch their own numbers to determine what is the better sale.

"Free" dining isn't free. It's just another way to discount the room, a very creative way. But it's no different than just discounting the room itself. Which is exactly what Disney has done one way or another forever, and always will. As does every other hotel in the world. If WDW has a resort with a higher level of occupancy than they planned, a discount will be given somehow. They rather have rooms filled at a 30% discount than not filled at all.

and full rooms translates to more money in the parks for a larger bottom line (for the eaters and the mouse ...pun intended!)

Probably some time in Jan or Feb, someone will start a "Watch" thread for free dining. That's the place to get the first scoop.

UK guests come for two to three weeks and Disney wants them spending most or all of that time at WDW, so they still have that offer.
