Hey there "No Buy" friends! I took December off and intended to be back in January, but things got crazy around here.... but I'm back for February with a vengeance! I was thinking about this thread between jobs today when I was craving a coffee LIKE MAD and wasn't going to buy it so that I could count today as a "no-buy" day.... and then discovered I had 6 punches on my coffee punch card! WOOHOO for a freebie!

Goal for February won't be terribly lofty as we have school vacation at the end of the month plus it is robotics build season and sometimes (well, often) pizza happens! Goal of 15 No Buy days for me (I don't count gas, groceries, or regular bills.)

1 Work then home... tried to fix the leaky plumbing under the sink myself so that I wouldn't have to call a plumber, but discovered that the pipe was actually broken. Looks like a new garbage disposal in our future.... :( No-Buy #1

2 Work then work then home. Free coffee to go with the snack I brought along to eat between jobs! DH was able to buy the parts and fix the broken pipe! WOOOHOO! No-Buy #2

3 Work and home. No money spent. No-Buy #3

4 Work and home. No money spent. No-Buy #4

5 Work, home, and robotics. No money spent. No-Buy #5.

6 Home doing housework. Men are at robotics but I packed lunches and DS will use his "food allowance" for today's pizza. No money spent. No-Buy #6.

7 Robotics and home. And normally it would have been a No-Buy, but DH and DS stopped for a pizza on the way to robotics.... which frustrates me because there was already pizza planned for dinner AND we were coming from home, so they totally could have eaten before we left OR packed a meal (which is what I did).... oh well. $12 spent. :(

8 Work and then home. Storm coming in so everything after school is cancelled so the quinoa stew planned for dinner will actually get eaten tonight! No-Buy #7

9 All-day voting day fundraiser for robotics (I was there 6:15 am - 3:30pm and again for clean up at 7:15-7:40). Plus I worked my evening job. I did end up putting $6 in the donation bucket to "prime the pump" and decided to leave it. Plus I donated more than half of what was sold :(. Definitely NOT a No-Buy day for me.

10 Work and home. No-Buy #8
11 work and home. No-Buy #9
12 Work and home. DS out for pizza with girlfriend's family but they paid. DH and I ate veggie burgers, summer squash, and pickles for dinner at home. No-Buy #10.

13 Picked up DD at school and brought her home for a short visit. Too cold to even CONTEMPLATE walking to the dining hall so I "splurged" on egg and cheese sandwiches and coffee from Dunkins for dinner (Yup, I'm a big spender...ha, ha!).

14 Happy Valentine's Day! I printed some cute Disney valentine's here at home and will be giving my kiddos CASH instead of presents.... but the money comes from the "gifts" envelope, so I will call today a no buy. No-Buy #11.

I need a no buy month. I had 2 no buy days already thanks to the kids being sick.
I'm aiming for 12 days this month.

Feb 1: No Buy
Feb 2: No Buy
Feb 3: Milk - $?? Haven't bought it yet and Starbucks - $10 card reload (first thing DD9 has eaten in 3 days so I took her where she wanted to go)

I am back in again for Feb. Goal will be 25 no buy days. This is for non essential expenses like gas, groceries, and bills. I also am going to try to keep grocery budget under $175 a week. I tried for $150 last month and that was too little.

1. - No Buy
2. - No Buy
3. - No Buy

Updated my post. Buffy, not sure how you can do as low as $175/week. I'm impressed. I hit the market a week ago.... and I admit that the cupboards/fridge were pretty bare so I bought a lot of dry goods to restock the pantries. But I spent $319 and DH still had to stop midweek for TP (how could I forget that!?), organic baby spinach, and milk. And we are out of spinach AGAIN today as well as bananas. I really thought that the $319 last week would take me through at least 2 weeks. I suppose we could have lived without the spinach and milk.... but not the TP! I'll hit the market tomorrow at least for the bananas and spinach and a little more milk. But hopefully that will be IT until next weekend! ....................P

Way late in posting but I have been keeping track...going for 25. To be fair, I must admit that I drive 1mile each way for work, so I don't need gas often unless DH uses my vehicle. Feb - April my employer provides an onsite cook for lunch and dinner ...so no need to purchase meals or bring my lunch 6 days a week from 8-9pm and often later. Sunday is my only time off and by then I'm too tired for anything but sleep. So, if I'm spending anything I better have a good reason!
