Anyone know the dates for the annual cheerleader competition (usually early February)?

Depends. Which cheerleading groups. Youth, high school or college.

How does it affect the parks and AoA resort? Looks like I picked the wrong week for Disney trip.

Its high school.

These are the cheer competitions that take place at Disney World...
Jan. 15-17 is college
Feb. 6-7 is high school
March 12-13 is all star
April 23-25 is worlds

Any comment on how the high school competition in February will affect the parks and AoA? I heard a lot of the schools stay at Pop Century but may come over to use the AoA pool?

I thought the pools in each resort were only for the use of the guests at that resort. Are there not gates that you use your magic band for entrance?
I have heard that they come over from PoP to use the food hall and the busses, though. I am there at the same time, as well.

If they're staying at POP they can not use AOA pool. The AOA pool is gated and you do need a MB to open it. I was just at POP in August and that pool is still ungated but it will be at some point.
