2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

So, I noticed in the email confirmation for W&D that it says, "Also, in the upcoming weeks, you will receive exciting planning tips via email to help prepare yourself before you arrive." I wondered if there was some Tink email that I never got, but I guess the Tink confirmation doesn't say anything about upcoming emails. Do they not email info about the DL races?

You'll get a few emails, usually. We just got one recently that I believe had an reminder about the changes in packet pick-up (everyone must pick up their own packet, with the exception of minors) and then some safety tips.

They are few and far between, and it took me a few events before I ever actually received the emails.

Huh! I have not gotten a single email from them since the registration confirmation!

I've gotten a couple. Honestly, they don't have any information that's not available on the website.

It's not so much about missing the information in the emails, although it's puzzling why I haven't gotten any. I am just getting slightly paranoid since I cannot view my registration anymore. :) I wanted to see if I could view it after I was unable to view my W&D one to confirm that I checked the C2C box. I still see my name though if I search for myself... and my credit card was still charged. :D

Breakfast question (apologies if this was already asked - I'm way behind on the thread). We're doing Neverland 5K on Friday - our first RunDisney event, with DH and DD5 and our 11th anniversary so a special day all around. The race start is 5am so I'm assuming we'd be done by 7am (assuming start corrals, and so forth). I was thinking we may want to go to a character breakfast after that but I have no idea how we'd be feeling so I'm hesitant to book an ADR and for what time- especially if we may want to do rope drop at DL (we're staying off site so I think DL is the non-EE park on Friday). Does anyone have experience trying to do walk-in at places like Storytellers after a 5K? We've only ever done ADR's for any of the character meals. Also, if the race ends at DCA, can we exit the park at GCH after a race or do we have to go back through the main gates?

For those who aren't getting the emails, I didn't get any for the longest time. For the most part they aren't anything super important and all of the information ends up here. Maybe try signing up for email reminders again? I'm not sure what I did differently to finally start getting them 2 years after I started runDisney events.

I'm not sure where to go to sign up for them. :) Neither this nor my W&D are linked to my Active.com account it appears even though I was logged in when I did both of them. I have a ticket into Active to try and fix it (since I really want to view what I entered!). I assume that's where I would go to sign up for email notifications.

Can't help w/ the walk-ins, but a tip for the 5k if it's the same course as in the past ~ the corrals really aren't corrals in the tradition sense. B/c it starts inside the DL at the castle, you line up on a 1st come basis. They line you up around the hub and then down Main St. So the earlier you get there when DL opens, the closer to the start. I've only used the main entrance when leaving DCA so not 100% if you can cut through there, but I've never seen anyone going out that way. They might have it closed as a safety precaution so people aren't trying to get in.

If you go to the very bottom of the rD page, under other links near the center of the page, there's a link that says email sign up.

Like Kim mentioned above, look on runDisney's website, not Active.

Ah, ok... I guess I thought race specific information would only go to people registered for the race. Thanks!

thanks! How early would we need to be there to get in the first 1/3 of the crowd? 4:30 for the 5am start? Or earlier??? Wish we were coming from the East coast and not pacific time zone people this time around! It's gonna be an early morning!

It's earlier than 4:30, but don't remember what time the gates open. It'll be in the program though when it comes out next month.

People will usually be there right when they open the 'gates' and then it goes from there.

So ... tell me about "dead legs". Because that's what I'm going through right now!

I can ride my bike, no problem. But man ... my feet and legs do not want to pound the pavement right now.

I have my 8 mile run this Saturday. I've been doing great with my runs and my miles are staying at 9min 40sec to 10min. I feel behind hearing that you guys are on mile 10-11 already! I know everyone has different training plans but your making me panic a little lol I'm headed to the running store today to get some energy gels to test out! Still have yet to decided if I will dress up or just wear my regular running outfit. Decisions haha

Don't feel too behind. :)

I am following the Jeff Galloway one for beginners who have been running consistently less than 6 months. It is/was 20 weeks (well 21... but the last week is the week after the race so I'm not even sure why there is a 21? :)) and there is quite a lot of down time/shorter running (3 miles) between the last 2 long runs and the race. We have 13 on 3/28, then 2 shorter weeks, then 14 on 4/18, then 2 more shorter weeks, then the race on 5/10. So that is a lot of time that this particular plan is not going to be making much forward progress and a different plan that has you running long every weekend will catch up. :)

I have decided I'm not going to go 14 on that last long run, and just do another 13, and save the last 0.1 for the race. :D

I am feeling about the same way. I worry that I haven't laid enough foundation for my long runs. I am following John Bingham's plan. I was going to do Galloway's plan, but, I was sick with pneumonia when I was suppose to start it.

I checked last year's program and it says that the bag drop for the 5k opened at 4:45, but the race started at 5:45 also. So w/ the race starting at 5 this year, I would guess that the gates will open at 3:45/4.

I'm sorry! I've had that before and it's horrible, when I had it I could barely walk. Make sure you get some carbs and protein in you and stretch/roll a lot. They say that after a race, it usually takes the number of days in miles before you're 100% again. You'll feel better soon! :goodvibes

Don't worry about where you are at all! You're already at 8 and we have 6 weeks () to go so you will be ready. When I'm training for a 1/2, I never go over 10 or 11 and would probably be at 8 this weekend too. Plus, you have that race adrenaline to carry you through those last few miles.

I think it was on this thread we were talking about the gu stop on the course, last year's program mentioned mile 8.5 for the stop so if you look at last year's map, it would be right before the "F" water stop. Hope that helps w/ planning.
