2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

You got it, lady!

So I kind of had to squeeze in a run at noon today just so I can make sure to keep myself going. Blech. 85 degrees, plus my allergies = a pretty slow run. But at least I got out there. I need to see if I can start pushing my work schedule back an hour in the morning so I can go running when it's cooler.

does anyone know the current character meal prices for breakfast? both for adults and children

You might want to ck out the Disneyland website under restaurants or character meals for pricing info. If not just call the Disney dining reservation #714- 781-3463. I'm sure they would be able to give you all the details.

OK Tinks......I know we all have training runs this weekend. But really check out the new Cinderella movie (Only after your training runs):yay: Went to see it this afternoon and thought it was GREAT and really done well. Even my DH enjoyed it.

Good morning! Can anyone tell me how often there is Gu in the course? Every water stop? Also, want to train to the right thing, is it Gu? Thank you for your help!

They have Cliff Shots out at around mile 8-9, usually, and just that one stop. Anything else is up to you to bring. Just remember to find what works for you during your training runs, be it Cliff Shots, Gu, or something else.

Thank you! I figured I'd try what they were giving out first, but I bought 4 different kinds to try over the next several weeks to see what works best. But if they only have them at one stop, I will definitely have to figure a way to bring some with me.

Yeah, definitely try them on your own beforehand. Hate to have you commit to something and decide on race day that you hate it or something else. Personally, I don't mind the Cliff Shots, but they are a little too thick in texture for me to keep me going through a full half. Through trial and error I found that Gu works best for me (although I am growing fond of the blocks, but haven't completely tested them on a long run yet). As for bringing them with you, do you run with any kind of race belts or anything like that? That's my current go to, and some people I know pin or clip them to the waistband of their shorts, hats, etc.

Woo, I made it through the 11.5 mile run today on the Jeff Galloway beginner plan. :) I was pretty encouraged, because I finished it in 2:39, so unless Anaheim gets a lot hillier than my city between now and then, that gives me a lot of time to get through that last 1.6 miles before being swept!

I tried out 3 brands of gels because I am slow. :D Gu was definitely at the bottom of the list. Too thick and sticky sweet. The Huma brand was my favorite! Honey Stinger second, although that was quite a lot of honey to eat all at once and it was pretty sweet too.

Congrats on all your long runs! I did 8 miles as a taper towards a half marathon next weekend, then ramp back up towards the PDC.

Mil leech and Miranda, try the Shot Bloks, sport beans and other solid forms of fuel, too. I have serious texture issues and just can't do the gels. I fuel all my runs with Shot Bloks (Orange and Margarita) and I know other people who love the sport beans.

What do you do to carry the shot blocks?

I feel so far behind the curve since I hadn't been running for awhile. Started this week with a couple of 2 milers, and today got in 3 - it was the best I've felt running for awhile, but I don't think I'm quite ready to put on any more miles. Maybe another week. I still have time compared to how much (or little, I should say) training I had before previous halfs, but I wish I had started sooner that's for sure.

Either the pockets if I'm wearing a Sparkle Skirt (love those pockets!) or I use a Spibelt and tuck whatever I need in there - usually my phone since I do most of my runs alone, keys, and Shot Bloks.

I tried the clif shot on my 7.5 mile run today. Texture surprisingly wasn't an issue, and with the slit in the package, the would be easy to pin on my skirt. I don't wear a belt or have pockets, so pinning them will have to be the way to go. I took it at 3.5 miles and it took a little longer to work than expected, may bump one to 3 and have 2 on my next 8.5 mile run. I'm not sure I could chew a package of something more solid. The clif shots actually helped me take more water in as I needed more to get the gel down and the gel helped the water reflux I get while running.

Congrats to everyone on their runs today !!!!
I did my 2 yesterday and then 4.5 today at the track. Wanted and could have done more but time wouldn't allow it, had to get back home.

Ran my first half marathon this past weekend! I'm working on a recap (actually, all three race recaps) that I'll put on my W.I.S.H. journal later tonight. I didn't meet my goal time, but I'm still happy with how I finished. I stuck religiously to my intervals (this was my first long run using them), so my pace was consistent - I mean, give or take 5-10 seconds either direction each mile - and I finished strong. The course ended up being INCREDIBLY hilly and the last four miles of the half were spent with a legit 20mph head wind. I felt like I was running with a parachute on!

I actually rode my bike later that day and was up having fun with friends until about 2 a.m., and still woke up Sunday feeling pretty good. So I think that bodes well for PDC!

As far as fuel goes, I'm a big fan of SportsBeans. Watermelon and Cherry are my two favorites. I also liked the ShotBloks (Margarita Flavor) and the Gatorade chews. The only thing that I didn't like so far was Gu - not only did I have a hard time sucking it down, but it did a number on my stomach later. My girlfriends that I ran the half with all use Gu, though, so ... just try and find what works for you!

Congrats on completing your first half marathon !!!! :cheer2: That was good practice for the PDC !!!
