I am!! Super super excited to see what's in store for those. I'm doing the 5k and DDD. Are you running any?
For race weekend, ART will start on Thursday b/c it's the expo start, and if I remember correctly from the passes, they end Sunday at midnight. When you get on the bus, you just tell them that you're running and they'll give you passes for you and your group.
FYI here is my data point re: nervous stomach. Ever since I started running as a teen, I had a very nervous stomach in the mornings when I worked out. As an adult I recall doing the Honolulu Marathon and being terrified I'd need to dash to a porta potty (which I did, but only once). Every time I did any sort of morning event, I'd barely eat, or if I did, after trial and error learned just eating gel's like Gu before and during exercise worked best for me - not great fuel when doing 1/2 ironman triathlons but it was better than the stomach cramping and porta potty runs. Fast forward to 8 years ago - after gazillions of tests trying to explain recurrent miscarriage (all saying "you're fine, keep trying") I learned I'm gluten sensitive (probably celiac but I ignorantly went off gluten before I could get an accurate blood test done). After going gluten free, I discovered I can actually eat in the mornings and then work out, and I can take in gluten free fuel during an event with zero GI distress. A true miracle for me. So all those early morning bagels or high fiber wheat cereal was actually making me sicker than having nothing to eat.
So if you do have a "nervous stomach" especially in the mornings before or during an event I highly recommend sometime trying out an elimination diet and see if there are any foods which are triggering it . And if you do suspect gluten, keep eating it but get a simple blood test to see if you are celiac or gluten sensitive before you try eliminating it. Even if the tests come out negative, remove it using an elimination diet because many folks are gluten intolerant which would not be picked up on a blood test and can be just as devastating as the auto immune varieties (celiac/gluten sensitive). As soon as you go gluten free the blood test results are useless. It was quite an emotional and life changing shock to not be able to eat gluten anymore but it's so much better being healthy and with the (silly) gluten free fad where people think GF means weight loss (it doesn't) there are a lot more edible GF options to choose from. I hope when the fad passes the good GF products stick around (including the girl scout cookies introduced this year - woo hoo!) And Disneyland is the perfect place to eat if you have any food intolerance's or allergies - one of many reasons why we got AP's this year - travel is so much fun when you're not worrying if you'll be able to find something safe to eat.
on saturday, I was thinking of booking a character breakfast at PP -- even if we do stay at HoJo
would 10:00am be a doable time to make it there? Or sooner?
I guess if I just run the 10K and don't stop I could be done by 7am -- depending on corral placement! How long do you stick around and mingle after you have finished?
i also have no clue if the family will come and see me at the finish esp if we stay at the HoJo instead of PP
I was trying to piece together my plans for Saturday after the 10K and the FB meet up that I'll be attending is at 3:30 - so does a 2:30 meet up by Trader Sams sound reasonable for anyone?

I don't think I'll be able to do any prerace meet ups.We are driving down from NorCal and I'm not sure when we will get there. Maybe just in time for the expo on Saturday.
Gotta love that drive, lol. I actually just made it a couple of weeks ago when I went back home to visit my family for a week. Bummer that you probably won't be able to make it. A second small meet up after the half could always be planned at any point.
Yes and for some reason it takes us FOREVER. And we haven't decided yet if we will leave sometime Friday or very early Saturday morning.
I'm following Galloway's PDC training program and this Sunday he wants us to do 9.5 miles and I am already dreading it. Mentally, I'm struggling with it already. I guess my struggle is to STAY motivated.
PS after 1 year of healing my body by going gluten (and initially dairy) free, I was pregnant yet again but this time made it through my first (and only) successful pregnancy - at that point I was in my 40s and we decided to quit while we're ahead. DD is 5 and will be running the 5K with me and DH. Having her in my life is infinitely better than eating gluten. She was lucky pregnancy #7.

Whoa, really?? Free ART passes for the family for the whole weekend? And you just get them on the bus? Can we have them until Wednesday?![]()

Hello Miss Vicki!! How are you?I know what you mean about dreading the long runs. I have a really long one this weekend, and while I know I can do fine covering that distance, I just don't want to do it.
So I got myself out for another short run today. Didn't go all that great, sadly. I'm going to have to work at getting my running stride back. Everything just feels strange. Today my shins were giving me problems. The route I'm doing is only about 2 1/2 miles and I could barry get myself through 2 before I had to cave and slowly walk the rest of it. Guess it's a good thing I'm actually getting myself out there this time. I need a few more runs to ease myself back in before I add on another block to at least get a good 3 mile route I can use for training runs.
Then of course a friend wanted to hang out in the Parks. Needed to tape my shins up for that to happen, but I needed to get out of the apartment!
Tomorrow is a new day. Just trying to get back into all of my old habits that made running easier. But every mile run is better than the one I didn't.
I really liked it - this was back in '99 and the only marathon I've ever done. I usually have trouble with humidity but it was raining which was a good thing as it kept me cool. Great crowd participation too. Honolulu itself wasn't the greatest for me- I much prefer Kauai, Maui or the Big Island but now there is Aulani so we are going to HNL next Nov to check it out! I wonder if they will ever do a runDisney event at Aulani.Congrats on the baby and figuring out what the problem was. Sometimes that is the hardest part. How did you like Honolulu? I'm doing that one next year.
Hey Kim,
I'm doing fine....with a little help from Advil and Glucosamine for running aches and pains. How are you doing? Any local races coming up? How is your costume coming for your niece?
I think I'm going to do my long run on the dreadmill....watch really bad really TV on the Ipad. It's the only way to get through it.

I'm good thanks. I'm doing the RnR SF in a couple of weeks. It's a backwards course to what all the other ones are and the shirt/medal are nice so it should be good. What about you? I did find her costume! I stopped by Carter's and in the boys section there was a perfect onesie, stripes and all and I picked up a pair of navy shorts too.
