2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

I'll have to look into their stuff again. I have a tank of theirs (Evil Queen) from last year and sometimes I like their stuff. I haven't thought about costumes really since I never actually do much, but maybe this will be the year. I'm not big on the fairies so I'm thinking along the lines of Snow White and Merida (aks the excuse to color my hair red again).

I really want the Evil Fairy/Maleficent pullover, but it's not on sale and kinda pricey. I think b/c it's Halloween and TOT in few weeks. They added some stuff the other day and picked up a Dopey one for Jan b/c it was $20! There's no turning back now. :rotfl2: Like the Snow and Merida, not really into the fairies that much either; I've worn RT's Hook shirt the past couple of years so probably stick w/ that one.

Random non-running question, is the CVS (thought that's what I saw on the sign) on Katella open or close to opening yet?

I'll be running just the Half that weekend for Tinkerbell. Not too thrilled of the date change as I loved January and Mothers Day weekend, I'd rather be spoiled in bed, but I'll make the most out of it. See you all there!::yes::

Count me in!
I will be doing the 5K and 10K! Please add me to the list.

Hello,

Usually on active you can get around the password by clicking on a guest link (think that's what they call it). That way you don't have to sign in and everything like that. Unfortunately, the Diaper Dash is sold out. I believe it was the first of all the Tink races to sell out. You can try through charities, there's a link on the Tink part of the site; I don't think they do the kids races, just the adult races, but it's worth checking out.

I will be running the 5K for the first time. Looking forward to it.

me and my wife just signed up for the half, :-)

Getting you all added now, welcome to the thread! Sorry it took so long, but I finally have a computer again ;)

When is the cut off for a 10k proof of time? I've been doing 5Ks lately, but I will probably do a 10K to prepare for the half, and if I could show my proof of time that would be great.

How do run with a group? Do you usually stay together no matter what or do you separate from the pack to go at your own pace? I'm running with my sister and she is afraid we won't be the same pace and I'll run off without her.

The proof of time needs to be before February 1, 2015.

As for running in groups, everyone is different. I've signed up with friends knowing that we were going to go at our own pace and then meet up after the finish, and I've also signed up with a friend knowing that I was sticking by her side to help support her through the experience and help keep her motivated. It's just all depended on the people I was running with.

Just talk about it with your sister and see if she'd like you to stick with her even if it means sacrificing your personal time, or if she doesn't mind if you both keep to your own pace.

I'll second what Belle Ella says. With some races I'll run together start to finish and others split off based on our times and training. A lot of it depends on how different my pace/conditioning level is to the person I'm running with. If it's dramatically different, the faster one can accidentally push the slower one too far, too fast and make the end of the race hard.

Talk about it up front and have a plan so that noone feels badly at the end. I've decided that my non-Disney races are for time and my Disney races are for fun and silliness.

For my mom's first half, I paced her (at the pace she specified) for the first 6 miles, then left her so that I didn't push her beyond her limits. For my first half, a friend did the same for me and we met up after the finish.

If it's a first for both of you and you're more interested in finishing than the time, I'd say stick together, get the pictures and enjoy yourselves! I did this for the Princess Half with a good friend when we were both too hurt to actually run the full race. She was recovering from pneumonia and I had a dislocated tibia (don't recommend doing that, BTW). We stopped at most of the picture stops, walked when we felt like it, ran when we felt good and finished a full hour slower than our normal Half times, but had a blast anyway. The coolest thing is that we have those pics of us crossing the finish line together. We run the same races a lot, but it's only one of two finish line pics we have together.

The 1st race email came out today!! :tink: If anyone didn't get it, I can email it to you.

On the rD site, at the bottom, there's a section titled Other Links and there's a link that has email sign up. But in all honesty, sometimes the emails go out randomly and some people get it and some don't; it's really weird.

I've been runningDisney for about 2 years now on both coasts and have yet to get an email from them. I think they hate me.

What was in today's email? Anything important?

The email:
