2015 FREE DINING THREAD _ All Questions HERE!!

It varies by airline and location. For us, we always book with Southwest the morning of the release. It never gets cheaper and the nonstop flights go quickly.
Speaking of sw do you know when December flights will come out?
 
We are coming from STL. Flights are 161 one way right now for nonstop flights. Thinking about booking it.
We booked our flights yesterday after we got FD. But I've been having Kayak send me price alerts on flights for months. Ours were the lowest they had been, so felt good about what we bought!
 
My 180 opens tomorrow. I wonder how bad the site will be in getting ADRs.
Someone asked and from all I read it sounds like online you can start booking at 6am. But honestly we thought that for this promotion and I believe it was reported to be open at 4:30am or so.

My 180 mark just past (I think it's technically today, I'm in Australia so it's already Wednesday for me) and I had no issues booking online. Managed to get BOG for both lunch and dinner, and lunch at 50s PT. It's definitely 6am, I tried searching in the minutes leading up to it and got an error message. Once the clock struck 6am (8pm my time!) I was able to get in and make my bookings. It was a much simpler process than I expected, we were prepared to not get anything at all for BOG yet we got multiple time options for both lunch and dinner on different days.
 

Never thought of adding days and dropping them to get an advance on ADRs. You know what they say, "One bad apple." All these new rules and regulations may deter even more guests.

It has nothing to do with adr cheat it has to do with % of volume in the hotel selling business.

You profit % goes down for every room you have empty at night and your cost to run the hotel goes up.
 
I have a question that I hope someone can answer about the Water Parks & More. I Just booked the free Dining at POR and when I look at modify reservation, I do see I can upgrade my tickets to WP&M. I know you can add them on now for about $28 a person, but if we decide to add it on once we get there would we be able to at that point?
When you booked the free dining offer you automatically had to pick park hopper or water parks & more. Yours probably defaulted to park hopper but they were the same price. You might be able to call and have it switched.
 
In case anyone wonders, phones are still bad! I have hit the 1 hour mark. FOR THE 3rd TIME! 1st time I had a Dr.'s appointment and he was totally cool with us hanging out on speaker phone hold. We both paused because we thought we heard a voice....no! Just the telephone automation. 30 seconds later we pause again....A cast member!! He hung up before I got to the phone across the room :worried:. Back in the car, back on speaker phone. 45 minutes my call drops. And so here I am finally home and the quoted wait was 45 minutes...fifteen minutes ago. Only because I love you, Disney pixiedust: Hoping for a little dash of dust!

That sucks! What number are you using ?

It's both to some extent because people (admitted it on this board) to booking extra days and then canceling after their ADRs were booked, which in turn impacted the % of rooms that were available when people go to book. And, depending on when they cancelled...potentially left rooms open. The above response was to a comment about that.

I currently have the park hopper with My free dining and I was wondering if I could upgrade to the Park Hopper + Water Parks & More if we wanted to once we started our trip. It does let me modify it now on MDE, but everyone is up in the air if they want to do a water park or not.
 
When you cancel a reservation should you get a confirmation email? We decided to "go big" and keep the AKL reservation. I logged into MDE and canceled my POP room. I got an error saying it could not be canceled at that time but when I went back to my main MDE page the reservation was gone.
I really don't want to call in just to check.

You could chat with a Disney cm online (and avoid the phones) and see what they say, but two years ago we were able to do this a week before our stay!

I asked a CM while I was on chat asking something else. I asked if we could add it on check in day: "Yes, you can upgrade your tickets once you arrive. You can visit any theme park ticketing sales location in person to upgrade those as well, including the Disney Resort concierge desk'

Thank you so much for asking! I really appreciate it. I started to call because I couldn't get the chat to open and it was still an hour wait on the phones!

Minimal pixie dust to be had :(. Can't cut days off of the trip unless there is availability as "Disney is now enforcing the minimum/maximum stays" which makes no sense because if I am already past the minimum and say, going from 9 to 8 days, why can I not cut back? If the system shows no availability then they will forward your request to guest services who will get back to you via email within 72 hours regarding , I guess, if they will let you do it anyway? And she said the resorts themselves might create their own minimums which si why I can find availability at CBR for 9/24-9/30 but not 9/24-9/28. Plus the packages she quoted me were higher than what I was putting together online. Oh well.
