2015 DVC Alaska Member Cruise 5/25-5/31/15

Well, our flight out to Vancouver is booked. Yah! Ordered the sweatshirts. Since we're first timers DCL cruisers, we were not able to get into Palo for brunch. All days were booked. Hoping that we get on the ship, they will have some opening. Can't wait.
Try for the Palo Brunch once you get on board. They almost lays still have reservations open, easiest way is to stop by the restaurant.

So, does anyone think it is about time to get some hints about special guests and programs on the cruise? Just want to enjoy the anticipation. We are hoping the west coast location may bring some Studios-types and as this is the first ALASKA members cruise, we are hoping for something special. Just excited....
Once Upon a Time films in Vancouver... Just sayin...

Hi FLNative and welcome to the cruise meet!

Hey guys! I just signed up for an account to be able to post in this thread! So excited about this cruise!

My husband is a CM at DVC Member Services and has been asked to work Member Services on the cruise, so that's the good news and the not-so-good news! We're going, but I'll be on my own for a lot of the time. I feel guilty being too excited about the menus for dinner, for instance, because he has to work during most dinners. So I decided to join the conversation here, where it's safe to be EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING! :yay:

Has anyone signed up for the Rain Forest Island Adventure (KE09) in Ketchikan? I did, but am still on the fence about it. We also signed up for the Yukon Expedition (SW31) in Skagway (hubbies day off, yay). Can't wait for that one.

Anyway.... hellooooo! And, is it May yet? :o

Welcome!! So nice to have you be able to join him on this cruise! We are signed up for the Sea Kayak Adventure in Ketchican and the Grizzly Falls Ziplining in Skagway. If you decide to switch it up at all, we love knowing people on our excursions.

Thank you! It would definitely be fun to know people on the excursions. I'll let you know if we do switch anything!

Thanks! :D

In the "no fun" category, I've just realized what time I have to get up (the day before the cruise) to get to the airport 3 hours before our 7am flight from Orlando to Vancouver!! :scared:

We are on a trip similar to the Yukon Expedition in Skagway but signed up through Chilkoot Charters rather than Disney. We wanted the smaller bus & option for more stops on the bus portion of the trip for photos & etc. Chilkoot also offers a train first/bus second option which gets back to Skagway about an hour earlier than the Disney tour.

45 days until we sail!!

We are a couple, with a past CM member in our family. Wish we could request to sit with you at dinner so we could share stories!!!!! Glad you are here. We are doing private excursions..whale watching and the Chilkoot train and dog sled (land) tour. Love our Disney, but it is less expensive and times out better for us. Heard great things about it and have seen awesome pix! If you decide to go that route, would love to hook up with you then, too.

That sounds like something I would have considered, I would have liked the extra photo stops! We felt like we had to book through Disney though due to my husband being a CM and working the cruise. That way he's covered if something unexpected happens. It's still going to be WAY better than the alternative (sitting on my couch in the living room, lol).

Yay for 45 days!! 8-)

I wish I could sit with you as well! I may end up at a large empty table most nights. The last Member Cruise we sailed on they had all the working Member Services folks at one table, so it was verrrrry quiet when they all had to work! I would have thought some of their family members might have come to dinner, but they must have made other plans when they realized their CM wouldn't be there.

As I just mentioned in my last post, we felt like we really had to go with Disney for our excursions, but if I end up having to do one alone, I could look into rebooking with another company.

Thanks for the friendly welcome!

Welcome MaylaLady! Glad to have you here.

We booked a Skagway helicopter dogsledding adventure with Disney. You're more than welcome to hang with us if you are by yourself and this is the adventure for you!

Other than that, we don't have any Disney Port Adventures planned.
We also have a couple meet and greets set up to say hello to one another. Hope you can join us

The first one is at the Cascades Lounge at 8:00 PM inside the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place
The second one is at the PROMENADE LOUNGE AT 2:30PM ON ENBARKATION DAY on the ship.

I'll definitely put that second meet on Embarkation Day on my schedule, that sounds great!

Our oldest son was a CM and College Progam student, too. We are doing the Liarsville gold excursion with the Salmon Bake - the one that says dance hall and Disney Characters. We might be only ones without kids or grand kids on that particular trip, but we don't care. Last cruise we didn't do pictures with the characters, and I feel we missed some magic there. I love the way our pictures came out with the Captain, and on Pirate Night, and I never have taken a lot of pictures or liked how they came out. Since I got my IPhone, my world has changed. I now have lots of pictures!image.jpg

I absolutely hate getting my picture taken, but I have made myself a promise that for this cruise I'll force myself to a least do some. I need proof that I was actually on this one!! It is a whole lot easier now that the cameras on cell phones are so much better. The last phone I got was purchased specifically for the "selfie" camera feature, which in almost 2 years, I have used one time. :o

I really want a picture with Minnie Mouse in her Tracy Arm outfit though!
