Very glad I did not change my RPC to SL to try and pick up the days we are missing. SL will still be down for the month of June.
Thank you for the update and I'm happy you didn't change your reservation. I can relax now that the refurb is still on schedule.:goodvibes

My neighbor called about their reservation that she made yesterday and was told that there was a website error and the reservation should not have been available. She moved back to GV.

Something made me stop and question it being open. Part of me wanted to jump and change so we could be in the same room as we are staying for 2 weeks this time as it will most likely be our last trip for awhile (kids getting older, school harder to miss).

I hope the other DIS poster is able to change their reservation. I wonder how many people booked SL when it was available yesterday. Sounds like a real headache for someone.:sad2:

Hi Baler. I called today and they told me the same thing about it should not have been available. We are deciding if we want to stay there without club level in a GV room or go back to yacht club club level if still available. (doubt it)I'm so upset. We really got excited about switching!!! We will figure it out tomorrow but I hate being in limbo right now

Good morning....doing my "one day happy dance"!! (even as I drink my first cup! :) ) :dance3:

And on the downer side...looks like I better look for my poncho for next week! :umbrella:

Having my coffee and thinking about trip too!

I bring dollar store ponchos but I also like a small umbrella too. Sometimes the umbrella is easier like when you are going from room to main building etc.

I do remember how classy gf is though if it rains hard, they put baskets of nice dry white fluffy towels by the lobby doors:goodvibes

I hope you have a great trip! Family time is the best:woohoo:

Oh yeah...agree with ya on the nice big towels! Now that IS classy....:thumbsup2 But as far umbrellas, we can't bring them to the parks, right?

You packed?? :)

1 DAY! SO exciting for you!!! Hopefully the rain will be typical rain - quick, hard down pour and then the sun comes out! I'm excited for you!

I bring my umbrella to park sometimes. The umbrellas disney sell fall apart on me (tried twice)so I bring my Vera Bradley ones:thumbsup2

I like umbrellas if I am going to be going in and out of wet to dry areas. I don't like to wear the poncho if I am shopping or eating.

I do wear my poncho on Splash cause I always get wet:rotfl:

I'm 95% packed yet like BLUE my dd is waiting until day before

I found my answer....and saw pics about the refurb. Doesn't look like it will impact negatively on my August stay. :)

Now one more questions...

In Sugar Loaf, can you request the deluxe room or do you have to book it?
Thanks.
goodvibes

Thanks for those who gave me some great ideas for our first visit to Grand Floridian. Some questions:

Do they run games for the kids at the pool in the afternoon? If so, what times generally, and which pool?

We are staying in Sugar Loaf Key, do all the rooms have balconies? We're a family of 5, do all of the rooms have a daybed?

I requested it in January by saying" family with teens and would enjoy a little extra space" and listed it as my first choice and any non dormer room second choice. (Slightly less space).

We got lucky and got it:goodvibes

We arrive at RPC on 3 August. Hopefully rehab will be complete and I can report back on updates to the lounge and rooms.

You will be relaxing in RPC before you know it :cloud9:. The refurbs seem to be on schedule so far, so I'm sure everything will be good when you're there :thumbsup2.

~Pre trip I always spend alot of time checking the weather (hence the packing..and re packing dance...as my friend grannieminnie has refered too! lol..)....really more necessary during the winter months..since the weather can vary so much...here are the temps for June...91...90..90..91...90...92...91..90...93!...90.... Get the picture...lol...:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:....I need to remember to pack my little hand held fan...lol...even that slight breeze that it creates helps...BTW..sure is better than snow!!! lol....

Looks like great weather for your trip :thumbsup2. I don't mind the heat in Florida, especially since we spend so much time pool side :beach:. I know you'll have a great time, even if the temps are in the 90s.....just spend more time at the pool ::yes::.

Thank you  SO HARD to resist the Grand, but I also LOVE WL so it's all good!

I agree....the GF is very hard to resist, but you're right, the WL is amazing, too :goodvibes.

mickeynut1 and BlueSkies....Thanks for the well wishes on daughter's cheer team.

:goodvibes

Thanks for the update/clarification :).

We've never stayed YC CL, but we have stayed both CL and GV at the GF and I loved our GV stay just as much as our CL stays. The GF is an overall amazing resort and although CL adds to a GF stay, GV is just as nice, IMO ;).

Those rooms are not a bookable category in SL, but can be requested :goodvibes.

This time next week we'll be on our way tot he airport! very excited!

I can't answer about the pool games and times, but I think they are done at the beach pool, although now that they made the courtyard pool zero entry, they may be doing games there (but I'm not sure). Hopefully someone with little ones who has been in involved with the pool games will be able to answer :flower3:.

All rooms in SL have a balcony, with the exception of 1 or 2 turret/deluxe rooms. I think now with the refurb, all rooms will have a daybed. The turret/deluxe rooms had a couch that did not fold out, but I think Hairy Chest just stayed in an outer building deluxe room and has reported that there is now a daybed/couch that folds out :).

They do games and things for kids in the afternoons. You will get a schedule telling you the times of the games. I believe its noon or 1 but cant be sure.

all the rooms in sugar loaf key do have balconies but all do not have daybeds. if you have a dormer room then you may not have one. the dormer room we had didn't.

Well, good to know you can bring umbrellas because I don't like to wear ponchos while shopping or eating either.

Thanks for the good wishes, Ferrentinos!

I've also seen baskets of ponchos during our Aug 13 stay.
