2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival 9/19-11/10

Were you able to get a refund? I didn't book anything because there was a good chance we would have to cancel our F&W trip (and it turns out we did). At the same time, I really wanted to book a couple of things I thought would sell out just in case we did go but didn't want to risk losing the money.

No Refund given. :sad2:

I was fortunate to get a CM that gave me a refund for reservations to 2 special events next week for a total of $538. DH had a stroke Wed. It was quite a relief to get the refund. He is out of the hospital now, but in rehab as he has no sense of balance. We also have reservations for Party for the Senses on 11/2. He is working hard to get well enough to attend that event.

Sorry to hear about your husband, LauraLea. Disney should give a refund in those instances, absolutely.

The CM did ask me why I was cancelling. Just so you know cancelling a trip because of $$$ car repairs does not get you a refund.

Does anybody know what you have to provide the CM in the Chase Lounge to get the wristbands for Illuminations? Do you just flash your Disney Visa, do you need ID and social security number, do you sign in, etc?

Thanks. I may put that one towards the bottom of my list since there is heat to it. I wasn't sure what kimchi was either.

"Kimchi... is a traditional fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings. It is often described as spicy and sour. In traditional preparation kimchi is often allowed to ferment underground in jars for months. There are hundreds of varieties of kimchi made from napa cabbage, radish, scallion, or cucumber as a main ingredient"

It can be very spicy, it can be mildly spicy. It's not a typical spice, though. It's mainly based on cabbage, so if you imagine sauerkraut, but different, you're going in the right direction. :) (of course, kimchi has almost certainly been around much much longer)

It's an acquired taste. I like it now (been married into a Korean family for 13 years now) but I didn't always! It's terrific for helping the immune system when you're feeling low...just like sauerkraut, actually. Full of nutrients.

Not sure that I would choose a festival to have my first taste of kimchi. Then again, when *better* to try it, when you can quickly grab something else that you know you'll like, unlike if you're at a Korean restaurant. :)

I went through easywdw's ratings the other day. There's not a *lot* that I can eat as a vegetarian OR am interested in eating, but then, my appetite isn't big anyway. I'm looking forward to what am AM interested in, though! Woo! I'm going with a buddy for the Wine&Dine Half, so I'll be there at the end of the whole thing...still excited. :dance3:

Flash your Disney Visa. That's it. S.S. For Illuminations? Lol

By far my absolute favourite at the festival. :) Oh don't get me wrong the food is great but you can't go wrong with taking a sip of drinkable chocolate then a sip of sparkling red wine. :)

....well, THAT certainly looks very interesting...:hyper:

And just where did you locate this awesome combo?

Laura

It is on the side and can be left off Personally I didn't like the spice. However that meant the chicken was completely tasteless piece of meat. This was the biggest mess of the festival so far for me.

Sorry to hear you didn't like this one. It was one of my favorites. But if they goofed and didn't season the chicken (sauce is not seasoning), then that's unfortunate inconsistency.

I am assuming the chase lounge is only for Disney Chase Visa holders versus all Chase Visa card holders ?

I am sorry to hear this. DH had a stroke 3.5 years ago and is still recovering. I might suggest renting a mobility scooter for your husband to make the trip easier for both of you. I hope he is able to go!

....love, love, LOVE kimchi! Yes, definitely NOT AT ALL like sauerkraut, but it can be on the 'hot' side....

We arrived around noon and were each handed a card that entitled us to a free alcoholic beverage. They said it would last for 30 minutes. Fyi
