2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival 9/19-11/10

I don't think the late night event is sold out. I would try again (I not sure you could ever book it online)
Thanks

For those that are interested I just got off the phone with Disney on the Food and Wine late night live event.

The web site shows availability but does not let you book it.
There is confusion with the reservation specialists in booking this - and they seem to be aware of it now. The problem is there are several events - the after hours wind down, the premium package and this event.

Anyway if the website shows availability there is availability and may need to call in book it. You may also need to push the reservation specialist to get it booked - or just call in again

We went to the chocolate boot camp today. I am sure things were a little different as they were filming it for an episode of The Chew and everyone had to sign a photo release and they had cameras all over us as we were participating.

We did have a lot of fun- first we made molded chocolate bars with our choice of various types of additions (nuts, granola, chocolate chips, ect).

Next we learned how to make a infused truffle recipe (demo) and then we each tried our hands at dipping truffles in chocolate. I felt I learned a lot in this demo as she talked about each of the steps and went into details on why certain things worked or didn't. I also enjoyed her tips for changing the recipe to be what we wanted and telling us how to use what we had in our kitchens to melt and heat things correctly.

We then did chocolate dipped marshmellows (homemade for us) and strawberries. Then we learned how a turtle is made. Finally we made chocolate clusters.

we were given champaigne when we came in, got to take home our chocolate bar molds (professional grade), took home anything we didn't eat in boxes and bags, and got a Mickey Mouse apron. Overall I learned some new things even though I have been working with homemade chocolates for a lot of my life. I hink it might have been a little expensive for the class but I would go to another one of these on a topic I found interesting especially if it was something I wanted to do but had not really tried my hand at. If I had not had years of experience wih chocolate I would have learned a whole lot more.
This sounds fab! Any idea when you will be starring on The Chew ?

Yes. There are both sit down and hightop tables. This year there were a lot more sit down then high tops One hint. After you move from holding into the food area they put tables up where you are held before the event. When I walked around I found that seemed more spacious. The reason I go reserved is the mentality of "we don't share " posted earlier. Last year there was a poster on this thread just as upset because at PFTS she and her friend took two seats at a table that seated more and rude people dared to sit at the table she "reserved" As a solo party goer I don't want to put up with this sense of entitlement

Thank you! When I booked, general admission was all that was left.
We're pretty good at "picking out" who we could fit in with, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that we have no Negative Nancies hanging around!
Thanks again for your help, it's appreciated!!

Regarding the earlier post about sharing tables at the F&W. i would welcome anyone wanting to share a table. Would be great to hear what others have eaten that is good and not so good. Hard to understand antisocial behavior in the happiest place on earth.

DH and I will be a wine and food 19-25 Oct so maybe we will share a table and be social !:drinking1

DW and I were at F&W last Thursday and Friday and had a blast. It's our 4th consecutive year going and we just seem to enjoy it more and more.

It was BLAZING HOT both days we were there, temps in the upper 80's to low 90's with real feel over 100!! The Craft Beer lounge inside the Odyssey building is a godsend on hot days and a brilliant idea on any day. It's a great place to cool off or dry off and still enjoy samplings of beer and food. Hoping Disney can figure out how to turn this space into some type of permanent lounge area.

Really enjoyed all the food this years. Some favorites include the Griddled Yard Bird and the Hash at the Farm Fresh Booth. The Lettuce wrap at the South Korea booth is still a MUST HAVE. Also the new Escargot dish in France is MUCH better than the old one!!! The new Puerto Rico booth is beautiful, will be interesting to see if it leads to something more permanent for Puerto Rico as rumored.

Beer Fans DO NOT MISS OUT on the Einstock beer they are pouring at the Festival Center and at the permanent beverage booth in Norway. It is an Icelandic beer not available anywhere else in the US (according to the CM's) and it is DELICIOUS. Crisp, refreshing, delightful on a hot day or anyday for that matter.

Have to say it was sad walking past the stages for Off Kilter and Mo'Roccan and not seeing them.

We did get to enjoy one last ride on Maelstrom while we were there.

All in all another great experience! Already looking forward to next year.

Wasn't sure where to ask this so thought I would start here. Is the Parisian bfast a fast sellout? Does it need to be booked first minute, hour, day or week?

Want to book it next year, but to do so will have to do a Sat stay which I avoid due to high resort cost and high crowds. By the time I would book the breakfast, my air would be booked so I would have to get the Sat I was scheduled to be there or else have paid for a Sat rate for no good reason. Is it worth the risk or does it sell so fast I shouldn't bother?

I would love to know the answer to this also! We won't be there until next October:). But trying to figure out and plan everything is overwhelming!! Thanks!

Does anyone know if the hash can be ordered without bacon?

Only in Colorado :rotfl2:

Sent from my Nexus 7 using DISBoards

:sad1: nnoooooo i was so looking forward to it

You aren't missing much. I threw mine away. I don't get the hype (and the bacon was the only decent part so without it you get fried potatoes.... )

Personally I thought both of the dishes at Farm Fresh were a bust. I didn't finish either of them.

:confused3

My husband loved his! But also got there shortly after opening and it was fresh off the cooking line. I wonder if that affects it.

My hash went directly from the "frying pan" into the little plate thingy. It was hot and fresh and tasted horrid IMHO.

I have no idea about the chicken. The sauce was "fire" and if you didn't eat it the chicken was just a plain boring chicken breast.

I was not impressed

I also really liked it & got there just after opening.

I was only at F&W pre-magic bands. Last time we purchased a pre-paid card that we wore on our wrists to charge all our food at the booths. Are magic bands now used instead? I'm guessing they are, but was hoping you could confirm that. Thanks!!

You can use your magic band or you can buy the gift card that you put on your wrist. It is up to you
