2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!!

Is there a link to where they made the announcement? I hadn't heard anything.

I'm having problems copying the link. I'm on my ipad and it's not cooperating, sorry! But on the rundisney site in the Avengers section if you go to runner info and the scroll down, it's after the waiver part under packet pick-up and on the DL part, still runner info but after gear check. I can post it tomorrow once I get on a real computer.

Thanks, I'll go take another look. Thankfully doesn't affect me, but I like to be in whatever know I can, lol.

Yup, it's race weekend in the city! Just a short one though, it's the Across the Bay 12k. We start just on the other side of the bridge in Marin, cross the bridge and end in the Marina/Piers area. It looks like fun and the shirt is nice, plus it's running across the bridge facing the city, how can you pass that up?

Sounds like fun !! Have a great time.

Just a heads up before reg opens and plans are made ~ disney just announced bib pick-up change starting w/ DL in Aug. You have to pick up your own bib, no one else can pick it up for you.

Oh great....more people in line to pick up their stuff. :confused3:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I found it! They did post it (in bold lettering) multiple times, for both the Disneyland Half and the Avengers Half. One good place to find it is to go to the particular race page, Runner Info, and then the Packet option, this is pretty much what was posted (wording varied a tiny bit between both event pages):

YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR OWN PARTICIPANT PACKET (WHICH INCLUDES YOUR EVENT-ISSUED BIB NUMBER AND TIMING DEVICE) DURING REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOURS. Individuals will no longer be able to pick up participant packets on behalf of others

Thanks for the info ladies! I hope this means they'll have race day packet pick up in case anyone has travel issues and can't make it to the expo in time!

I read in some of the running groups I'm in that people called or emailed and they said they would have race day pick up. Patty might have had it in her blog too.

Thanks Kim! I mean I'll be traveling down on Friday but I'm sure theres lots of people coming in on Saturday! I always stress out aboutstuff like that.

So who is doing the early registration next week? Me me! And so far I'm sticking to my guns and only doing the half.

Does anyone know whether during registration you can register only for yourself, or can I register for myself and one other at the same time? Particularly if AP holders do get to register early, this would be helpful for us. Thanks!

If I decide to run any events I probably will be. My friend usually helps me out with the AP early registration.

Hi from the UK :goodvibes

I'm really interested in entering the Avengers (mostly because it's inaugural but also because I could get the Coast to Coast medal as I did the Princess Half at WDW last month).

How soon do you guys think it will sell out? Are we really looking at an hour?

I have both a WDW AP and am a DVC member - do either of those entitle me to any form of early entry to the event, like it does (I'm told) in WDW? I'm guessing it may be a DL AP that's required for a DL event?

How is the course compared to the Half in WDW?

Thanks for your help and suggestions :)

Karen

I was wondering about how early it may sell out too I have to take my laptop to school that day to make sure i can get it. I am just worried if for some reason I cant do it exactly at 9 but more like 915, or even the 5 pm that night if my computer at school wont work for it.. I don't want to miss school for this. I wish they allowed us to call in.

I'm pretty sure you can register more than one at a time. At the very least you can use the link more than once.

DVC ~ I've heard people say Disney people have told them yes and no, they're really not sure, so it doesn't hurt to check out info online. WDW APs I've seen people talk about it on the WISH thread, but not definitive yet, but I would think so.

As for time of selling out, I would love to say more than an hour, but Dumbo sold out faster. Tink takes a little longer, but this is inaugural and gives people another chance at C2C, so I'm thinking really quick sell out.

For the course, Tink and DL in Aug are 2different courses. We start outside the parks at the underpass of DTD and the 1st mile is around the outside of the park. Tink has more inside the park then through DTD out to downtown Anaheim and back to the parking lot of DCA to the finish in the parking lot at Paradise pier. For DL, same start just opposite direction, into the parks for awhile and then into Anaheim, but the industrial area. Then we head out on a trail and through AngelsStadium and back to the parking lot of DCA and finish behind DTD and ESPN Zone. Inside the parks there are character pic stops, but outside the park it's bands and cheerleaders. The Tink course has more support outside the parks, b/c we go through some residential area and they come out and cheer. W/the DL course, they have old cars along the way into Angels Stadium and from the stadium parking lot and inside there are Girl and Boy Scouts cheering. So it could be one of these 2 or a new one, not sure until they post it.

I would say the earlier the better for reg. 5k for DL sold out 1st day in Jan. Not as fast as DDD, but still 1st day, I think I was still at work when it was gone. And w/ inaugural it will definitely go quick.

Thank you. Will the AP holders be automatically sent a link?

The voicemail I received said essentially the same thing along with the phrase "we have let our partners in the AP area know this info as well". "

How was your race on Sunday ??? Looking from our house, the city looked clear. Hope you had a great time.

It was GORGEOUS!!! The 1st mile was downhill to the water, then under the bridge. Then we snaked back up to the top, which is soooo much easier than the straight up hill for the SF 1/2 & Marathon and Nike. There was low fog covering the road part of the bridge when we ran across, but not cold or windy. Heard the barges but didn't see them until we were right over them. But once we were off the bridge, sun was back out again. After that, we went through a tunnel directly under the top which was kinda cool and downhill to the water again. I think the best part was right after we crossed under and before the downhill, you were facing downtown and could see the water, Palace of Fine Arts and teh skyline, absolutely beautiful. We went along Fort Mason to the bottom edge of the bridge and the turned around up Marina green into Aquatic Park across from Ghiradelli Square. It was a great race, and nice distance, with the hill and 2 semi-big downhills you felt like you got a good run in but nothing tiring. They had some booths in the park and leading you down to Pier 39 and I think you could get some discounts there. The shirt deisgn is really nice and they had a medal if you submitted a time and got a PR. You should do that one next year!

But driving home, we crossed on Hayes Street and I saw the Bay to Breakers Hill. :furious: I am determined to run up that whole hill this year if it kills me! Well... that and not see any nekkid people, but we know that's not going to happen. :rotfl2:
