2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!!

I'm in for this. We all ready have our hotel booked over at the Fairfield Inn across the way from the main gate (stayed there before and have enjoyed it). Now I just need to my butt registered once it opens! Possibly going to double back it with Wine and Dine if I don't then, Wine and Dine gets the kick this year along with my Coast to Coast. Ah well.

thanks about the course, and the end of the finish line being able to have family's. I have the money set aside and will know by the day it opens if i will register or not. it sounds fun and would also be a reason to tell ppl i'm going no matter what and no one can talk me out my trip. Lol
Was also going to ask what are the pasta party's about, i saw it said pasta and desert. what kind of pasta and deserts have they had at the pasta party's before?
Also can you chose the color of shirt you get or all the shirts the same?

DH and I were so excited to see this race.

We just finished the PHM this past weekend and had a blast. We were talking about trying to do our Coast-to-Coast next year, but this should work out really well. Plus, my DH is very happy that it's not a girly theme. He was very supportive in running the PHM with me, but will be happy to go back to a not so girly race. We were figuring we'd have to do Tink next year in May to get the coast-to-coast.

Since we are coming from the East coast, we will be leaving the kiddos at home. GASP - they will freak out if they find out we are going to a Disney park without them. But we will be going to WDW for Thanksgiving just a week after we get home from DL, and then again in January for the WDW Marathon Weekend, so they should be able to handle it.

I've only been to DL twice, and never stayed there- so I need lots of advice....

Right now we are considering staying on-site at Paradise Pier... thoughts? I know it's cheaper off-site, but we are only planning on doing this once, and with it being a grown-up weekend, and a 40th birthday trip for DH, I want it to be a little special.

Also - is it going to sell out the day it opens? I am trying to get my sister, brother and SIL to register with us (They are in LA, so no hotel needed), but they may need a little more time to decide.

We stayed at Paradise Pier Hotel for Tink and I will for sure stay there again for Avengers. We visit DL a few times a year and we always stay off site at our favorite Harbor hotel (Hojo's) to save money. It has everything we need and is a great value. However staying at PPH for Tink was perfect! I saved miles of walking and a few hours of sleep by staying there. The corrals for Tink were right in front of the hotel. Tink started at 5am, I took the elevator down at 4:30 to go line up. After the race was over and I was through the medals/food area, I was back in the room stretching out it 5 minutes. I will never stay anywhere else for race weekends now. We booked through GET travel and had no problems.

I'm guessing this race will sell out the day it opens.

Had anyone heard confirmation that AP holders will get to register early? Even though I plan on registering first thing thr morning it goes on sale, I am SO nervous about it selling out before I can get tickets. My entire family and I are huge comic/Marvek fans and I'll be crushed if I can't run this race.

I am excited about this now. the more i look at it. Oh can any one tell me what the difference between normal tickets and the convention tickets we could get though this race would be? and can you only get tickets for the days of the race or before and after races too?

I haven't heard or seen anything yet. But if I do, I can it post here. If we don't hear anything, just make sure you're on the reg site a little before 9am PST and just keep refreshing and hopefully you should be fine.

The tix through Get Travel are discounted from the park tix. You can use them before and after race days. You pick them up at the expo and at DL last year and Tink this year, if you were there before the expo opened, they had a booth by ESPN Zone and you could pick up there so you could go to the park beforehand. There is also an option where they'll mail it to you, but there is a $20 fee (I think). Also, the tix are good usually through mid-Dec.

On one of the facebook groups, someone said they called and were told that AP reg would begin 3/19 at 12:00 Eastern. I haven't seen that written anywhere else though.

YAY!

Ok, so I booked a package through Costco Travel at Paradise Pier. So excited. Now I just have to make sure I am on the site on the 25th constantly hitting refresh so that I get myself and DH registered for the race.

oh wow i wonder what the big difference in price is if it doesn't have mm. do you recall the price you paid?

Count us in for this! (90% sure). ;)

We immediately got online and got booked at VGC. I might have to take a day off work so that I can be at the computer at 11 AM our time on the dot to get registered. I think it'll sell out FAST!

We were going to do Princess in Feb but the chance to go to CA for an inaugural race? Fuhgeddaboudit!

Cali, here we come!

Thinking/researching about what to do for a running costume anyone have a great ideas/plans?

I was checking out a couple of cool etsy sites that do running costumes, but they mostly have stuff for the different Run Disney princess runs.... not too much Avengers stuff yet, though I would imagine they might add more now.

I am thinking about buying the avenger leggings i saw. just type them in a search. I am not sure about a shirt because i know a shirt will be given at the expo not sure it will have any chr on it lol but it would be cool.

Ok a question to those of you who have done races before. Do i need a note from my doctor or do they do any tests to see if every one can safely race? Or do they trust us?

I'm hoping for etsy too, no clue as to what to do.

No note needed. :goodvibes And some people will run at all costs ~ last weekend at Princess, I passed a girl that was 5 days out of surgery from a gall bladder removal! She had a sign on her back to people passing her wouldn't bump her. I have no idea how she did it or if she finished, but she was close to mile 5.

Oh my gosh seriously?! I just had weight loss surgery like six days ago. And one of my sites is so sore right now and I know its not the exact same thing but its in that same region. And let me tell tell you you would be surprised how much a sore muscle in the stomach area can affect your walking. I can't imagine running a half marathon. How the heck she pulled that off I would love to know. Kudos to her for even attempting that I hope she finished!

Maybe I should get a sign for me for my next trip to the parks. Most people went around me when they saw the cane. But it would make sure the kids stayed clear. I had a kid who kept bumping into me in one line at Disneyland on Saturday. Thankfully she wasn't bumping hard or anywhere near my stomach level. But towards the end I was getting tired of it and wishing the Mom would control her a bit better.

my Dh and i were talking. I was saying i could afford to get the 45$ cheer thing. But it says reserved viewing location , so if i got this for my DH, would my son be able to sit with him? we don't need two blankets or shirts or clappers. I just thought it may be fun for my son to use the clappers and cheer for mama.
any one ever do this for there family?
