Hi Lisann - Thank you for checking. My friend is at the Boardwalk right now and I will send her over to get them! Thank you very much for offering to purchase. The soap will be part of DD graduation gift. She can take it to Philadelphia with her in the fall to college.

I've heard they changed Tonga Toast?? This August GF stay I was thinking of strolling over to Poly for breakfast, for Tonga Toast. Can you have a look at it if you're in Cooks for breakfast? I hope it's not true.

I read this also. Going to be there next weekend and was hoping for Tonga Toast after the SW half marathon.

So I was able to book my FP+ selections this morning AND complete my on-line check in for GF!! SO excited for my first stay at the GF!!! We booked an "outer building deluxe garden view" room - and I understand there are only 4 rooms in each of the buildings that offer this room type - when I completed my check in, I did NOT select any room requests (I'm just happy to be going!!). Now, that I've come to my senses I realize I might want to request a building. I've gone on-line to the Touring Plans room layout and I see where the room type is in each building and I know I do NOT want a dormer room, and I would like a room of "something" vs. the backside of a large tree or the pool shed.

SO...which building(s) should I request?

Having my room ready first vs. having a room request fulfilled is not a priority b/c we won't be there until 2-2:30ish anyway (with check in at 3pm) ..and will probably need to find a quick lunch..

THANKS!

You are welcome

Both Boca Chica and Big Pine have lagoon views, and would be closest to both pools and main building.

Hope you're having a great time. How do you like the new Oasis pool? We were in Samoa last August, loved it. But Oasis pool was just a big mud hole!!

Honesty, I think the cabanas are ugly and the Oasis pool is okay.

With regard to Tonga toast, I wouldn't know if it was changed as I have never had it.

I just saw a picture of them taking up all the carpeting in the main building. Anyone have any info on this? I wonder what the new carpeting will look like. Are they also replacing any of the furniture?

It really depends on what is important to you. Do you want to be near bus transport, pools, main building, quick service restaurant, etc. Or is view, and noise level more important. Also, keep in mind that the 5th floor of all of these turret rooms do not have a balcony so if a balcony is important you may want to make that your main request.

The resort is very compact so everything is a fairly quick walk. All of the rooms have interior views I believe, ie the pool, marina or courtyard.

Hey everyone. Throughout the 30 years of my life I was always told that the Grand Floridian was too stuffy and therefore I never stayed there. That changed on Thursday night when my friends and I stayed at the Villas at the Grand Floridian, and I'm happy say that I'm now a believer. Although it was only one night before we moved to BLT , we were all extremely impressed and happy. We had room 1429 in the Villas which was a studio. The room was in great shape, including the TV in the bathroom mirror. What's better than having Stacey on while getting dressed? The monorail was right out side the balcony and we all really enjoyed waking up and watching it go by. Thursday night one member of out party got in really late and we wanted to grab a drink but Mizners had just closed. The nice bartender actually decided to stay open for us and another group for an additional 30 minutes. :thumbsup2:drinking1We had breakfast at Grand Flo Cafe and out server and food and grand mimosas were great. So if you were ever on the fence about staying here I would definitely give it a consideration.

well, it appears that I went into my account and picked 2 buildings: Conch Key Building, Sago Key Building thinking I could change them if I wanted to - but apparently I can't un-check those boxes anymore and that's what I'm stuck with...

I hope I picked good!

I would rather NOT have a dormer room, but I didn't see where you could pick "no dormer" but there was a box to check FOR a dormer...and there is no "comment box" so I think I'm hosed...

So curios if anyone uses the spa at GF? I remember years ago there were complaints about it but just curious what it is like now. We will be at the Poly but thinking of heading over for a bit of me time. Any experience with it?

Sure is. Hope it's not true.

Apparently they have changed the bread supplier which has altered the taste. I don't think it is a complete recipe overhaul, at least that is what tikiman mentioned.

Call the reservation number to add other requests that are not listed online. I think Sago is good choice prettier views and close to bus transportation and Gasparillas and not far from main building and courtyard pool.

The lobby was redone about 5 years ago. Why on earth would the GF be doing this again? Are they doing it at night or during the day?

It's nice to see them doing this before it gets to the point of people stating it's time for them to change the carpet. Especially in their flagship resort.

Are they doing it at night or during the day?

From looking at the light coming in from the doors and windows, it appears to be during the day.

Did anyone see the carpet in GF was being replaced in main area. What a sight to see....

Yikes! I'm really glad we missed this work - lol.

As I'm working on my next trip to BWI CL and Poly CL in a couple months, I have such torn feelings about missing RPC! DH gave me the green light for a "quick" stay during Thanksgiving, so here's to hoping I can a deal better than our Easter deal there! :crazy2:

It's being done only during the day. I read that it'll be through April 14th. So thankfully they should be done soon!

Wow that video is crazy, at least it hopefully will be over quickly. It is sad for people staying their only for a few days who may or may not be able to enjoy the lobby, but on the other hand it's good that they are replacing things before it gets to a point were the carpets are in awful condition. Hopefully it's not to disruptive to those currently staying at the GF.
