Hi Dee! You busy lady. My name is Rebecca and I am a BC & Disney addict and proud of it. I think we have met :)

Very excited, I am going to officially request to be added to the Be Our Guest List, although our days may change by a day or two. I have a big birthday beginning of May and we will be taking our sons and the GF of DS19 to Disney to celebrate. The boys have not been to Disney for several years and are excited. We will be staying at BC in a Deluxe room May 16 - 21. We just looked at a deluxe room in December to refresh our memory for the size as we have not stayed in that room category since 2005. We totally think with the extra square footage we can make this room category work for us especially with the capability of access to the new beautiful lounge. :goodvibes

Has anyone gotten a refurbished room yet on the 4th floor? I can only assume that they are still working on the 4th floor still ....or have we moved onto the 3rd?
I'm wondering the same.
I saw that too We will be there Easter week Apr.4-10. We booked this resort for the pool. The only other time we've been to Disney, 7 years ago, the resort pool was closed (CBR) but we had water park tickets so it didn't matter that much. This time I didn't get WP tickets knowing the pool will be amazing for my 3 kids 12, 9, 3. Fingers crossed it will be done by then!
The pool really is huge. I hope if they are still working on it during Easter, that it won't bother you too much. Fingers crossed for you!

Just made our reservations today for Beach Club. We'll be there 11/5/15 - 11/9/15 for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. My first time staying at BC, and first time running a Run Disney race. Can't wait! :cool1:

The Yacht Club, lobby smells nice, it just has a different scent. I'm not sure what it is.

Since I spend way too much time hanging out in the value resorts I have come develop my own means to envelop myself in delicious, high end scents.

febreze_c_232117.jpg

I have carefully crafted a velcro cowgirl holster in which I have loaded 2 jumbo, value sized bottles of Febreeze. I regularly run through the lobby of P(L)op Century , liberally dousing everything nailed down with buckets of Febreeze.

I think of this as a service to my fellow "Ploppers" who know not the lusciousness that is the lobby in the Beach Club.

~NM

Love the picture, but I actually think both lobbies share the same scent! You get it most strongly over by the bellhop stand at YC and over where they do the caricatures at BC.

I just booked my flights this morning, its feeling more real now! :)

I am on the list for BC from 4/20/4/26, but I ended up switching to YC (saved $997 by switching to get the Spring deal!)

I'll make the change to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

can someone tell me where in the yacht club would be "close to transportation." my husband is at a convention at the S&D, so we were aiming for an area close to S&D, but i want to balance that with being close to transportation for me & the kids, because we decided to go without a rental car.

p.s. we have a 5th guest in our room, so we get daybed priority regardless of our other requests, right?

Not sure what to advise you as far as location.

Yes, if all 5 of the people in your room are over the age of 3, you will be given priority for a room with a daybed. They have to give you a room that has sleeping space for everyone.

In the unlikely case that the resort is full and there are no more daybed rooms available when you check in, you would be provided with a rollaway cot.

Every year we book a Bounceback for the last week of August right before we check out. This year the first day starts on the 20th, which is a Thursday. For whatever reason airfare on JetBlue out of Boston on a Thursday is way more money than leaving on a Wednesday, the day we always leave. So I was thinking that instead of spending an extra $300-400 on airfare, why not just book a single night at the BC a day earlier. If I'm going to spend the extra money, I might as well spend it on an extra day in the World. My free dining won't kick in until Thursday but we can just eat counter service our first day. I also checked on adding a day to our Park Hopper Passes and it would only be another $42 for the 4 of us.

Has anyone else ever done anything similar? We have always just booked our Bounceback and traveled on a Wednesday. Just curious if others have done this and if it worked out ok.

Disney Dreaming on this cold winters day!!!

Jay

Sounds like a wise plan!!!

:thumbsup2

Somewhat silly question but...
I loved the smell in the lobby at the Beach Club when we were there. This time around, I switched to YC to get a substantial discount. Does the YC lobby have the same smell? LOL

Love the picture, but I actually think both lobbies share the same scent! You get it most strongly over by the bellhop stand at YC and over where they do the caricatures at BC.

I thought it was the same scent- Green Clover and Aloe- in both lobbies, but I could be wrong. It does seem like the smell is more pronounced at the Beach Club.

:)

Well, after 7 days at Disneyworld in September 2013, I thought it would be years before we would return, but my family is going to be back for two days out of a slightly longer Florida trip. My wife and son insisted on the Beach Club.

Now the question is whether to go to Epcot on Monday and Magic Kingdom on Tuesday or vice-versa.

Truly look forward to being back at the Beach Club, where we made so many memories, even if only for a short while, and seeing the renovations!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Hi everyone! :wave2: After a quick 4 night stay at YC this fall, we have decided to make a couple of changes for our summer trip - one that included a switch to Beach Club CL! Woohoo! :cheer2: We will be arriving on July 7th and staying until July 14th (this is after a 7 night stay at Poly CL) - We are so excited as we LOVED the convenience of it's location - walking to 2 parks was amazing! - and we loved SAB! :thumbsup2 Hopefully we will see Teena on this trip - last summer we ran into her at GF in the pool as my daughter was playing with her granddaughter! It was so cute! :goodvibes

Is it summer yet? :confused3

Sounds great!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for July.

:woohoo:

What is the best way to go about room requests?

We rented points for April through the DVC Rental Store. The day we arrive, we will already have been there for a number of days. Is it best to request before we arrive or can we request our preferred studio villa upon check-in early on check-in day?

I mostly just care about being on the ground floor and not looking at a parking lot/road, etc.

:welcome: to this forum.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

I think it is better to get your request called in to Disney's Central Reservation Office before your trip, that will allow the room assignors the best opportunity to try to meet your requests.

DVC friends, please help me. If you are renting points, can you make the request yourself or does the "owner" need to do that?

:goodvibes

As I was trying to make our Beach Club reservation the first of June, I noticed that it says the pool will be refurbished. I read the first page of this thread and it says just normal winter maintenance. Does anyone know if the pool will be fully operational in June? Thanks so much!

:welcome: to this thread.

I will add you to the Be Our Guest list.

The only refurbishment of SAB I know about is the normal winter maintenance. Parts of the pool will be worked on, while other sections remain open. I believe the work is scheduled to be completed in early March (March 4 is the date I have seen).

:cool1:

Hi everyone. My BC vaca is fast approaching and I remember reading that you request a microwave for your room. Did I make that up?

Unless something has changed, I believe you can request a microwave from housekeeping when you arrive. It will be provided free of charge, based on availability.

:thumbsup2

Has anyone gotten a refurbished room yet on the 4th floor? I can only assume that they are still working on the 4th floor still ....or have we moved onto the 3rd?

I'm curious too! Haven't heard anyone post that they have stayed in a refurbed 4th floor room. I assume they are still on the 4th floor.

:)

A couple more pic's of our group. I love these people!

I love these people too, and the pictures as well!!!

:thumbsup2

It does say SAB refurb until spring 2015 on the Disney website. It seems as though they are only closing parts of the pool at a time and the rest will remain open.

Natebenma...thanks for sharing the pics of Teena and MickeyT with us. It looks like everyone was so happy.

Early March, based on what I have seen.

Love it when members of our extended family get to meet up!

Speaking of...

Why yes, I believe we have met!!!

I am so excited about your trip with the boys. I am hoping we will get to continue to travel with our boys as they get older.

Glad to add you to the Be Our Guest list!

Question- can we order off Yachtsmen steakhouse menu in the bar lounge next to it? We love the lobster bisque.

We're here!! :goodvibes

After a not so magical experience with Magical Express this afternoon, I was a little nervous the trend of bad luck would continue. On top of having to wait at least a half hour just to get on the bus, certain guests or the driver (not sure which) mistook our bags for theirs, so the driver could not find our bags when we arrived at the YC. Definitely a major scare, but thank god the guests immediately noticed the mistake and had the BC concierge get them back to us at the YC right away. The YC staff was really helpful in dealing with the issue, so all's well that ends well. The YC concierge CM we spoke with had quite some trouble reactivating our old magic bands and wasn't particularly helpful or friendly, which took another twenty minutes or so upon arrival. Thankfully, check-in made up for everything up to this point...

We were upgraded from garden view to water view and have a perfect view of the Boardwalk! The CM didn't mention it as an upgrade, but I knew the second he pointed out the room location on the map. Yay! The room is great and we could not be more thrilled with the stunning view. We feel like we are constantly in th middle of it all watching people pass by along Crescent Lake. We are also super close to the lobby, which is convenient, and no external noise issues so far. We love the spacious patio, which still feels private since it's set back far enough from the Crescent Lake walkway. I will post a pic of our view soon!

We spent the afternoon/evening in Epcot, which is always fun, and had dinner at Flying Fish. We love FF, but it wasn't quite as awesome tonight as we remembered. A couple not so friendly CMs upon arrival that couldn't find our ressie due to computer issues and the usually awesome snapper was a bit undercooked in the center. Regardless, still a great first day and dinner. We're just happy to be back in the happiest place on earth! Tomorrow is Cape May for bfast (our fave) followed by the Studios and then some pool time hopefully. Today was sunny and gorgeous with a high of 74.. definitely warm enough for pool time mid-day (at least for us Connecticuters), so hoping for the same weather tomorrow. Maybe some B&C sundae time while we're at the pool as well?

There are walls surrounding parts of the water slide (plus some scaffolding) and the section of pool that it feeds into, but not really that big of a deal visually. Plenty of pool left to swim in!

This is our first YC stay and I must say we're enjoying the quieter feel and lobby so far, particularly since we are adults only this trip. Like I said, please just post if you have any questions while we're here (leaving Tuesday night) and I'll try to answer. Still can't believe we're actually here! :yay:

Checking in on Saturday!

What is the run down on the toiletries? I'd like to pack less, if possible (even though we check bags on our flights, it's still just nice to have to bring less)!

There was plenty of shampoos and conditioners as well as soap and body cream. I wouldn't bother with any of them.

Dee, I would appreciate it if you would alter the BOG list for my December trip to add a "V" behind the BC. Got a two bedroom villa so my daughter-in-law can experience WDW in style for her first trip there. Not only am I abandoning my YC, I'm really coming out of the dark to see the light in a big way on this trip. Now I just need MickeyT to fill me in on the little tricks of the trade for staying in this section of the resort.

Question- can we order off Yachtsmen steakhouse menu in the bar lounge next to it? We love the lobster bisque.

:welcome: to this forum!

Lots of items from the Yachtsman Steakhouse are on the Crews Cup menu. I had the clam chowder there in August but I can't remember if the lobster bisque is on the menu.

I have a link to a Crews Cup menu (from the all the ears website) in the dining section (Post 7) of this thread, but it does not list the bisque. Perhaps if someone is at Crew's Cup in the next month or so they can check.

Even if it is not, it doesn't hurt to ask- lobster bisque would be a very easy thing for them to serve to you.

:thumbsup2

Will be at The Beach Club Feb 4-10.:cool1:

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

So glad you have arrived (after some inconveniences), but have a room you love to show for it.

Thanks for the reports on the waterslide- I haven't seen anything from other guests and no pictures (understandable unless you have a waterproof camera).

Enjoy the rest of your trip, and I hope you get some nice relaxing pool time!!!

Let me see if I have a picture from my August trip.

ETA: I have a picture, not great but here it is

You can request more from housekeeping if you need it.

Glad you are enjoying the resort. Hope you stop by and say hi Sunday or Monday at the BC!!

At one time the club lounge was open 24 hours for coffee and soft drinks and light snacks. I am thinking that this is no longer the case.

Can anyone who has stayed at the Beach Club or Yacht Club concierge level confirm?

Thanks!
