2013 points charts (newbie question)

usually before now.

but a couple of years ago - when DVC reallocated the point charts - they waited as late as january 20 to release the updated point charts.

so this is not unheard of...but it does suggest another reallocation is coming...

It was announced during the recent annual condo meeting that there are changes coming to the 2013 point charts.

From dvcnews.com:
New vacation planners are presently being mailed to members. The planners will not include point charts for the 2013 calendar year. Similar to 2010 and 2011, Disney Vacation Club is in the process of adjusting the point values for 2013 due to shifts in member usage patterns. The results of this latest reallocation will be posted to DVCMember.com in late January 2012 and mailed to members in February '12.

I just received my 2012 planner and I find it such a waste of money, especially when 2013 isn't included. I mean, I already have my 2012 vacation booked and the points have been online for everyone to see for quite a while now. Plus, weren't they included withh the 2011 planner? :confused3

I hope it's sooner than later. I'd really like to start planning our 2013 visit. We may decide to go early in the year so having a look at the point charts now would be great.

The insert in the 2012 planner stated that the 2013 points chart would be on dvcmember.com in early January.

I agree. I don't understand why we received the 2012 planners this week when many of us have already planned 2012 and the 2012 points charts were included in the 2011-2012 planner last year. I'd rather wait until next month to receive a 2012-2012 planner.

I agree, to mail the same exact book that was mailed already last year is just a waste of our money. I can understand the letter saying the points list is delayed, but shipping one sheet has to be a lot cheaper than shipping the whole book again.

Does reallocating the points mean that it will cost more points to book in 2013?

I wish there was an opt out. I never look at the book to determine points or seasons. I don't even use the DVC page to figure out points since there are other web pages that do a much better display.

It could cost you more points, or it could cost you less. Since a point basically represents a very small % of real estate, they can't increase or lower the total number of points in the entire year...but they can move them around.

A couple of years ago they lowered the number of points for Friday and Saturday nights and raised the number of points for Sunday through Thursday nights. For folks who always stayed Sunday through Friday, the cost of staying went up. For those who went on weekends the cost went down. It pretty much stayed the same for those who went for 1 week.

We can just wait and see what they do in a few weeks. Due to 11 month booking windows, they must let us know by the end of January. :surfweb:

as backyardponder says: "maybe."

if you were planning a trip for early december 2013, it might cost more.

if you were looking at mid-may 2013 or something, it might cost less.

but the pts in total for each resort for the year cannot go up.
