2013 Disney TR

Just thought I would chime in on this post as my dd23 graduated a year and a half ago with a degree in print journalism. She also loves to read and write creatively and she has had a hard time finding options for employment. She ended up as a promotional writer for the University she graduated from. There was very little to apply for in our area unless she went with the local newspapers. She also writes for a local magazine on a freelance basis. She much prefers the magazine writing, but it is hard to find.

Thank you for chiming in. I was afraid of that. I hope she will incorporate a teaching degree in there somehow and maybe give herself more options.

My DD says now that she wishes she had the option to teach. She could still do that in a private school as they have different criteria, but her DH is in graduate school at the University she is working at and DD needs to stay there so he can go to school for free. Maybe one day down the road she can switch to teaching.

My daughter would think she was in heaven with a major in Great Books. I will be sure and tell her that you got to major in that. She will be so jealous. I appreciate the advise and I will try to encourage her to take education classes as well. I hope you find your dream job soon and that it is near your family. I think working at Disney would more than make up for being a little behind on your career path. ;)

Hey Emma, it's been awhile since I got in some DIS time. I just wanted to drop in and say congrats on the upcoming Disney trip! The Grand looks lovely and those sugar cubes are so cute!

Yeah for your upcoming trip!! Yippee!
Ahh, the Grand!!! No words can express how I love that hotel!
I do think we will have to stay in the Treehouses our next trip! They are soo unique!

I was a bit behind...

First things first, though, I have to join you in your mourning for Sunset Point. My favorite place in all of WDW -- making it one of my favorite places anywhere! -- was the hammock on the far (Tahiti) side of Sunset Point. I loved it that I could lie there, hearing the sounds of the Magic Kingdom interspersed with the boats crossing the lagoon, see palm trees above, Sunset Point to my left, the castle and Space Mountain across the water, and NOT A SINGLE OTHER HUMAN BEING. It was one of those rare WDW spots that was truly peaceful. And it breaks my heart that I'll never lie there again -- I wish I could have said goodbye!

Of course, I always knew, even years ago, that eventually they'd build DVC there. How could they resist cramming more people into a (from their perspective) under-utilized spot claiming such prime real estate? And maybe, now that I have a family of my own, I'll eventually appreciate having the larger accommodations available. But I'm afraid that once DVC has moved in at the Poly, the whole vibe of the place will change, become more harried, more crowded...the Yacht Club, after all, is way more peaceful than the Beach Club...

Sigh. Oh well, no sense dwelling on it, I guess.

I'm happy for you you have another trip booked!

You and your family were very brave, facing Downtown Disney on a Saturday night! Looks like it was worth it for those sandwiches, though. Glad you had a lovely treehouse morning, and can't wait to hear about your time at the Grand!

You can only put so many people onto so many square feet of earth. More parking and more rooms will only equal more people in whatever new theme greets them in the small footprint of the GCH.

Sadly, vacation time shares are just about the highest return on investment a resort owner can make. Yet, as a Disney stockholder, it still doesn't make it feel right to me.

Yeah, I can't really fault them for it too much, it's a very logical business decision. But I agree that it doesn't feel right, regardless.

Oh my goodness, this is probably the most spectacular and adorable TR I've ever seen in my life from the mascot to the cupcakes to the clothes and haircut everything is perfect and uhghshdfal;skdf;lk subscribed!!

I just fall more and more in love with the Grand all the time. Like...that is what heaven is, I'm pretty sure. The whole place is just dripping with beauty and wonder. It's a shame that you don't like coconut and all that jazz...I had the german chocolate cupcake and it was divine!

Yum, that Earl of Sandwich spread looks delicious! I think that's the perfect way to spend remaining dining credits. Too bad those sandwiches don't last too long to travel home because they'd make excellent meals when dealing with missing Disney.

Oh cool! You'll be meeting up with DisneyHockeyMad again? I remember I used to be friends with her when VMK was still around!

Such great light fixtures! Howard and I should really visit more resorts so he can get more pictures because they really are so unique, and he has his odd fascination with them!

I don't see how I'd ever leave the resort if we stayed club level. I'd be enjoying all the "noms" once they're put out for each "meal"! That cheese looks so good! My husband detests blue cheese, but I think the moldier, the better! I never have it in the house because it'd just be me, so seeing it offered makes me happy.

I love your "wanderings" Emma! Such a pretty place to wander around too!

I think I'm going to have to stay at GF one of these days! Your report makes it sound irresistible!

Haven't posted in awhile, but I'm all caught up!

I too am mourning the loss of Sunset Point... I got engaged there so it holds a special spot in my heart!
The EOS feast is better than Thanksgiving! Well since you had the holiday sandwich, it was kind of like Thanksgiving!
I just love your photos from the GF... I must stay CL there next!
