2013 dates

I am waiting for the 2013 dates & prices to come out ( I am hoping to book 2 cruises....but with that being said I am starting to lose my patience. I have looked at RC Oassis of the Seas :scared1:... they are actually cheaper that the Fantasy...its making me wonder. DCL might be losing 1 cruise this year from me. Hoping to see something SOON...has anyone heard anything????????????????????????????????

You could always book the Oasis and then decide what to do, since your deposit is fully refundable up until final payment. The Oasis/Allure are cheaper than the current pricing for the Fantasy. However, when I booked my Fantasy cruise, it was actually cheaper than sailing on the two big RCCL ships. It just depends how early you lock in the Fantasy pricing. Either way, you'll have a fabulous ship to enjoy!

RCCL is having their WOW sale Oct 4-5 where it is 50% deposit and a OBC, so you could put the small deposit down on the Oasis/Allure until DCL comes out with 2013.

when these new dates/destinations are available, where will they be posted?

besides this awesome thread/board, where/how will they be announced?

I was also wondering that, because even if we know that they're out how do we know what they are? since more than one person on here says you have to call to book. It could make things quite confusing unless you know exactly the cruise you want.

We booked a place holder for a 2013 cruise on our cruise last week. They book you on a dummy cruise for as cheaply as possible just to hold it, then once the 2013 dates are out you can switch it. Nothing to lose and it only cost us $150. By 2013 it will be either the Fantasy or Dream. Booking agent on board said 2013 will even be more reasonable since the "new" ships will be more than 1-2 years old by that time. Fingers crossed.

We have 3 cruises booked next year 1 with DCl to the Bahama's, 1 with Carnival to Canada and 1 on the allure of the seas to the Caribbean and a dummy cruise with DCL to transfer to a 2013 Fantasy cruise but now I'm a little bit aggravated that I just didn't book something with another line when they released their 2013 dates because the price has jumped since their bookings had opened up. It may not hurt to put down a deposite with another line just in case.
Now I have been waiting and hoping that the Fantasy opening prices are not to high:surfweb:

When they announce the new 2012 itineraries, there was a press conference, it was on the DCL Facebook page, it was here and my TA posted it on her Facebook and emailed about it.
I think it even made msn.com last time because of the new itineraries.
They release the info a couple days before booking opened for platinum, so you had a little time to think and plan and decide on a budget and contact your TA with any requests before the phone lines open. If you're silver (like me) you've got time to think.

:scared1:

I thought you could only book by phone when the rates first came out. I didn't think they updated the website with the new dates until weeks later. Hopefully I am incorrect though. I can't imagine spending that long on the phone!

Actually, in the spring the new dates were on the website the first morning. The website wasn't functioning at all until about 7:45 Eastern time, the phone lines opened at 7. I think I'm remembering the times right, I was in California so it was 4 am.

I had several people to book and when the website started working, I booked them online while I was still on hold.

Assuming they open early to Gold and Platinum CC'ers, those won't be online, but once it opens to everyone I fully expect them to be online the first morning.

They were on the website the first morning of silver/general booking. Gold/Platinum had to book on the phone to get early booking, I thought
:confused3

Correct. If they follow the same procedure, gold and platinum (and silver if they release those early) will have to be booked on the phone.

When it opens to everyone it should be on the website that morning.

Does holding a cabin ensure the price or just the room? I am thinking of having my TA book the Fantasy but put a hold on a cabin in the Magic in case the prices are dramatically different. If I switch to the Magic and transfer my 10% off to that reservation which was on hold do I keep the same rate as it was when the TA placed it on hold? Sorry if this is confusing.

Good question, Lisa. I was wondering the same thing?

If you change cruise dates, it does not hold the price. The booking you make onboard is only good for the 10% off the price you book the new cruise under. For example, if you booked a cruise for $2000 and 10% off would make it $1800* but you then moved that booking to a cruise that is $3000 with 10% off making it $2700. You now have to pay the full $2700. If you paid a small deposit, the remainder of the deposit that is due for the new cruise must be paid in full at time of booking.
I hope that made sense to you. :goodvibes

*I only used these numbers as examples. In an actual scenario, the base cruise cost would be the only portion eligible for the 10% off. You would then add in taxes and fees.

If you put a cabin on hold for a specific cruise, the price is locked in - as long as you pay the deposit in time. However, if you transfer an onboard booking to another cruise, I think the price you pay is whatever the price is at the time you transfer the reservation.
