Goal - 100 Books
Book #39 - "Bliss" by Kathryn Littlewood
11 year old Rose Bliss and her family own a bakery in the town of Calamity Falls. Rose knows that there is more than just regular baking going on, though. Her family are magical bakers. When her mother and father are called out of town, it is up to Rose and her siblings to keep the magical bakery recipes out of the hands of Aunt Lily, an unscrupulous woman who wants the recipes for her own personal gain.
I enjoyed this book a lot! There were a lot of fun things that happened because of magical mistakes. It was an entertaining read. I will read the next in the series!
Book #40 - "A Cottage By the Sea" by Ciji Ware
Blythe Barton has gone through a horrible divorce and retreats to Cornwall, England to lick her wounds and find a branch of her family. Little does she know that she will also find the way to restore her own peace of mind.
This was a great summer read. Very easy. It is what I would classify a "beach read." The characters were pretty one dimensional, but the story was cute enough to keep me interested.
Next up - finishing "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton. I started this before our trip to
Disneyland last week. I didn't want to pack such a large book, as I only take my nook traveling, so I'm determined to pick it up and finish it before book club this Thursday!
