Finished #6 - The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. Didn't love it. I'd probably give it 2.5/5 stars.

My #7 book, Paris by Edward Rutherfurd, arrived yesterday.

Book #23 - "Little Blog on the Prairie" by Cathleen Davitt Bell

13 year old Genevieve is whisked away by her family for summer vacation to a camp where it's 1890 all the time. Gen is not excited about it, and only survives by texting her "adventures" to her friends back home on a contraband cell phone. Her friends post her texts on a blog that goes viral. What will happen when the other campers find out their misadventures are being chronicled for the whole world to see?

Review - This was a book my 11 year old checked out from the library, and I wanted to read it before she did. It's cute, engaging, and the characters seemed real to me. It's not great literature, but it's cute enough.

Next up - I need to finish "Oracle Bones." It's really dry reading, though, so it's going slower than I would like.

I have to admit that I love to read Nora Roberts Trilogies. I get sucked into the families/friends and love that I get to keep following their stories in the next book. These are light, quick reads for me, and there is a little mystery tucked into all the books about a ghost that ties it all together as well. Another thing that attracts me to this particular trilogy is that Nora Roberts is writing about her own town, and her own Inn. She actually has renovated the Inn that is at the heart of this story, and owns the book store (Turn the Page) down the street. I love that she is sharing a part of herself by including it in this story. If you like romance, I highly recommend these books.

I read the first two but for the life can't remember reading the last one...I'll have to check my goodreads list....I will be adding "A Perfect Hope" to my to-read list as I'm fairly certain I didn't read the 3rd book. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm going to be realistic and post a goal of 12 books for the year. I've been disappointed with my first few choices of the year and put them down shortly after beginning!

My current read is gripping though and I simply have to spread the word about it. Many have heard of it, I'm sure, but I'm simply shocked by what I'm reading and I figure many others may be as well. It is...

Wheat Belly by William Davis

As a result of reading it, I'm currently also in the process of eliminating wheat from my diet as an experiment. I don't think I have a huge issue with it myself, but I'm quite sure a family member does.... so I'm thinking about how to approach the subject or suggest the book? I haven't figured that out yet.... It actually hits the shelves April 23. I have a friend who's a book buyer and she sent me a copy early. To say I was excited to receive it would be an understatement.

I just saw that Marie Force's book, "Treading Water" is part of the Kindle Deal of the Day today. I'm thinking of getting it, because it seems that when I complained that a couple romance books I read were too 'young bodies hoping into bed with whoever', some one told me that she's not so much like that. Any reviews?

33. The Cat Who Moved a Mountain by Lillian Jackson Braun

There are something like 27 "Cat Who" books who feature the main character Jim Qwilleran and his 2 Siamese cats. Most of the time Qwill solves some kind of mystery with the aid of his cats in his hometown of Pickax. In this book his adventures occur during a vacation to a mountain top retreat he has rented for the summer.

These books are quick and fun but read more like a blog than a mystery sometimes. There is a lot of rambling and you are thinking when is he going to get to the murder etc. They are cute though.

Book #24 Rococo by Adriana Trigiani

Review: Bartolomeo is a man of impeccable taste. He is the biggest interior decorator in his hometown, lives a lush yet interesting life and loves his overdramatic family. When he gets the job to redecorate the town's church, his dreams are realized but with the new job comes a whole lot of surprises and Bartolomeo must deal with a different family dynamic, new friends and the search for inspiration.

At first this book didn't appeal to me. The characters are appealing, the plot was great and well written but there was too much detail. I don't mean in how things are described but rather each piece of cloth, each trim and texture which at first was fine but got a little too much. However, as I became more enthralled in the family drama with the overblown characters (let's put it this way..his sister Toot is..eccentric in her own way.) and the over the top drama, I didn't get annoyed with Bartolomeo's terms but instead added to it.

The second book in the Divergent series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the third and final book in the series when it is released this fall.

Just finished the "The Witches Daughter" by Paula Brackston and "My Name is Mary Sutter" by Robin Oliveria. Really enjoyed both of them.

I keep trying to finish Le Miz and Sophie's Choice but I just can't get through them...not holding my attention.

Half way through "Illumuniations" by Mary Sharratt. Really like this one!!

I may need to look this book up. I've been low carbing for the past several months and so have "accidentally" eliminated gluten from my diet (by accident, I mean I wasn't intentionally doing it, it's just a result of low carb). But WOW! I was suffering from moderate joint pain and it's ALL GONE!

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I know it's considered classic literature, but I had a hard time with this book. Thank goodness it was SHORT!

I normally love this time period, but I didn't get any of that from this book. I didn't get to know any of the characters in depth other than the narrator of the story.

I finished the book wondering who the heck WAS Jay Gatsby??? I never really got to know him. Were the rumors/mysteries surrounding him the real Gatsby or was it the man the narrator believed him to be.

I'm so confused, lol.

At least it's DONE.

Next up: Rush Home Road (if it ever arrives at my library - it was shipped SEVEN days ago!! Sigh. What the heck?!)

I HATE being bookless!!

I feel your pain. I have been bookless for three days now. I am on hold for a book but have three people in front of me. So, in order to fill time, I tried one of those Sophie Kinsella books again--Can You Keep A Secret. Well, I tried reading it for two nights. I'm sorry, it's just so vapid and blech. I'm probably offending a hundred people on this thread. It's just AWFUL. I do like some fluff reading every now and again so it's not that I'm not into that. I just cannot find the love for this author. So I gave up on this book.

I've seen some good recommendations on here lately; however, my library is not carrying them electronically and I can't get my lazy butt out to the library. It's not on my way home. Whine, whine, whine....

I HATE being bookless!!

I understand completely! I'm living in a house with probably more than 1,000 books, but I consider myself bookless because I've already read them!

DD#1 was kind enough to take me to the libraries in both Osceola and Lake counties this week, so I have five books of my own, and I want to read two that she picked up for herself and DD#2. So I'm good for a week or so.

34. Shoeless Joe by WP Kinsella

This is the book on which the movie Field of Dreams was based. I'm a sucker for a good baseball book. This was one of the best. Very well written and quite a delight.

Just finished mission flats, written by the guy who wrote defending Jacob, which I know quite a few people in this thread read. It was very good, started kind of slow, but overall I enjoyed it. Took me longer to read than I was expecting, because I've been having some severe migraines lately I'm excited I finished, so I can start the new Harlan Cobden book now!

I did just finish a book last night called As I Close My Eyes. Picked it up as a freebie. I really liked it a lot. Found out today there is another in the series (didn't know it was one), so I bought it. I haven't bought a book in quite a while but had to keep going!
