Okay, I have only 135 points per year. The month I renew is August.

I booked my first trip this February and had to borrow my August 2011 points to make it happen (well I borrowed most of them and will use the rest when I go back in November)

My family is planning a trip in May 2012 or August 2012 - they are still working out the date.

So I will have 0 points August 2011
135 August 2012
135 August 2013

So I have 2 questions:

1. If we go in May, I can only borrow my Aug 2012 points to have a total of 135 right?

2. If we go in August 2012, will I be able to borrow my 2013 points since by the time the trip comes I will be in the next use year? And if yes, how far in advance can I reserve this trip, do I have to wait until 2012 to book a trip that will borrow from 2013?

Thanks so much, sorry this is kind of confusing.

You have to have the points in your account at the time of your trip, that's when they are deducted. If your trip is in your 2012 UY, you can use 2012 UY points or if you don't have any left or you are short, you can borrow 2013 UY points and move them into 2012.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions and they can't be reversed.

You are only allowed to borrow from the next UY, you can't use 2014 points for a 2012 reservation.

You can always book a trip 11 months in advance at your home resort. So, an August 2012 trip can be booked in September 2011, exactly 11 months from the check in date (ie: if you want to arrive on August 10th, then you can call on September 10th).

As mentioned, everything is based on when you travel and not when you book. As long as the points are valid for the time you will be staying, then you will be all set.

And yes, a May 2012 trip falls in your August 2011 UY so you can only borrow the 2012 UY points.

That's correct. If you book for August of 2012, you will have any left over 2012 points available as well as 2013 points. You make the reservation 11 months out (September of 2011), and they will make sure the points come out from the 2013 use year if needed.

That's not really true. Points are deducted from your account when you make the reservation. Points use is based on the date of stay. So the use year that applies to the date of stay determines which points are used, not the date of reservation.
