2012 Quote

Just got a quote from TCD, £5261 for POR, BC not loaded into system yet. This price doesn't include tickets :scared1:.

It is only £200 less than we paid for the BC last october including our tickets :scared1: It is also flying from Gatwick so we would need to add on internal flights down.

Dont panic. Disney will surely offer the discounts, they have to. Also i dont think the flights will be cheaper next year either, with our economy the way it is,they will have to dangle some sort of carrot for us to part with that sort of money.

that's a ridiculous increase on this years price. Will be interesting to see what is offered when other people's brochures come out and they all have to start competing.

PM me if you get a good deal - I'll do the same for you.:) I remember that your kids get on with each other and you stay in one room. I wish ours would do that! I'm surprised that Virgin beat DIY.

Will do.

The thought of sharing a room or not going on holiday is the only reason my kids get on well with each other :rotfl2:

Think the only reason virgin beat diy was because we got 15% off through a FVC offer

I am waiting on the brochures coming out covering Dec 2012:santa:
I have been looking at this years prices and hoping they don't go up too much for next year!:surfweb:
I have always used Virgin holidays but based on this years prices thomas Cook Signature - which uses virgin flights- is coming out over £500 cheaper for my party of me DH and DD than Virgin. The Virgin preview brochure will be out end March / beg April and the others end April / beg May. It's soooo annoying I know when I want to go where I want to stay etc, etc, etc:sad2: but i'm just waiting, waiting, waiting!

UPDATE

I have just started a new thread to let everyone know the Virgin preview brochure will be out on Thursday 17th February.

I am feeling your pain.;)

just a word of caution to the poster about Thomas Cook Signature - used them in Feb 2009 and saved about £400 with virgin flights - had so many problems it wasn't worth a £4000 stay difference. I found out the hard way that sometimes you get what you pay for.

Priced up with tcd and just noted that although the same trip next year is dearer my son who is currently 12 but will be 14 next year is charged this year with Virgin at teenager price would count as an adult with TCD which might be part of the reason it is so many extra $$$$ - here's hoping :)

Just had a quote from Charter travel for a fly-drive (2 adults, 3 children, 12, 8, 5) 29th Oct - 12th Nov with Virgin: £3600:scared1: This, I was informed, was a pre-advance registration ensuring the lowest possible price! This year the price for flights only was in the region of £2600, now adding a car and price increases for 2012 wouldn't add £1000, surely?:confused3

Hi if its not going to get you into trouble please could you elaborate on what was wrong with Thomas Cook Sig? We will be going with our DD who will be turning 4 whilst we are there so I don't want to risk anything too bad.

Thankyou
Claire

Thomas cook signature use virgin flights and they have a bit of a reputation going for bulk buying seats from virgin pre release dates and then overbooking for them and bumping people at the last minute and offering them indirect flights or refund as alternative, i know quite a few people ive read about complaining about this, theres a long thread on another board at the moment where someones been bumped 60 days out for easter only offering them flights from a diffrent airport indirect and 400 compensation for 5 people.(it costs them more than that to get to the other airport).
A member of my family also had something similar happen to them when travelling as part of a larger group but they were sorted out eventually but only after a stressful few days.

We had quote pre release for this easter with charter for 800pp i said no thanks and waited for them to release dates and rang back up and the flights were only 750 pp, waited a few weeks and eventually bought them (again through charter travel ) for 700 pp.

Tried to make our final payment a week before the day it was due and was told their system was playing up and they couldn't accept paymnet. Tried again every day for a week each time the same problem. Emailed and spoke to various 'managers' and still nothing. Then they start threatening to cancel the holiday due to us not paying. :confused3 I send a letter to them detailing the problems. Naming the people I spoke to, copying all my emails and theirs and threatening to call in my solicitor. Still can't take my money and still threatening to cancel my holiday. This continues to 10 days before our trip is due. By this time I'm assuming the worst. Hear rumours of insufficient Virgin seats being booked by Thomas Cook Signature. Don't know the validity of this and still don't know. Write again and ask them to reply re this problem. The day after my letter goes recorded delivery I get a phone call to say they can take my payment as their system has miraculously started to work. ;)

7 days to go and still no tickets, no disney booking on their system and a friend working for Thomas Cook can't find my details  Luckily 24 hours before we were due to go we got the tickets. Had to leave a note on my door to ask the postman to deliver the tickets if they arrived to my place of work (luckily around the corner from my home.) Thanks to him we got the tickets on the Friday and signed for them and could still do online Virgin check in. We went on that Saturday.

Now all companies make errors. Did we get an apology? No
Did we get anywhere with a claim for expenses for phone calls, letters etc.? No

We did have a fantastic trip but it took me the full week to stop worrying.

i know every company has it's ups and downs but this put me off them for life.

Just got a quote from TCD for my 2012 dates for a fly-drive.
£3990.
:scared1:
I hope this doesn't reflect potential price rises next year.

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

2013 is looking more like areality for me :sad2:

Me too. That is crazy money. I keep reading that people have got a fly-drive price for 2012 that they are happy with from Charter or TCD. Both seemed really high to me.:confused3

TCD fly drive quote (as above)

£3662:confused3
