Does anyone know when the 2012 restaurant prices (mainly character meals) will be released? I just booked CRT breakfast this morning expecting the $44.80 price I found on another site and about died when she told me is was $52.07 each. That seems like quite a large increase! I don't know if I can stomach paying that much for breakfast unless we are bringing a Princess on rides with us the rest of the day lol. Are the other character meals going up similar amounts?

That price must include tax and tip? :confused3 I just looked up CRT breakfast for Jan. 2 and it is $42.99/adult and $27.99/child plus tax which is just slightly more than 6.5% and gratuity which calculated at less than 14%.

ETA: For our party of 2A/3C/1Infant the January 2nd prices were about $8 more TOTAL than what we'll pay in September.

Prices are going through the roof. Disney is artificially increasing prices to make the dining plan look more attractive, thus keeping the dining dollars on site rather than people leaving the resorts on Non-Park days for places like Universal.

Since they've reduced the value of the dining plan, it really is a shrewd business decision but one that angers the general visiting public. However, they know that people will still come so they'll keep pushing the limits until they hit that psychological barrier and people stop paying. :sad2:

CRT breakfast for my family would be more than a weeks worth of groceries. Thankfully my kids are too old for that now.

While I haven't done the research myself, another member of these boards has and historically, the dining/menu prices have risen between about 2-4% per year for the past 4-5 years.

DDP prices have risen at roughly twice that rate, so to suggest that they raise prices to make the DDP look attractive is a good soundbite, but doesn't particularly work once the historical prices of both sides are seen.

Of course, we won't know for anything but the pre-paid options for next year. It's also possible that if they do not have a set price, they could charge you for the highest possible price this year and then refund/credit the difference (sort of like they do if you book a room only for a year that rates haven't been released yet).

Also, rates on any and all menus at WDW can change and be raised at any time. It is not similar to the DDP where the price is locked in for a year. Just because the calendar changes from 2011 to 2012 does not mean prices will go up right then, and just because yesterday was in the same year as this one does not mean the prices will necessarily remain the same.

(Now, HDDR, SoA, Mickey's BBQ, and CRT are a little different due to the pre-pay nature, their prices are generally released early so people booking are charged the right one (if they were dropping, it's doubtful they'd bother... but they want to make sure that everyone's paying the higher price)).

If it's a peak period they'll also add an extra 4 bucks to the price. That would make it $48.80 plus tax.

I just wanted to add that the $44.80 price on AllEars.net is from August 2010.
