Looks like maybe $84.99/$22.99 for the DxDDP? Actually, when I add the plan the package goes up by $85.52 per adult and $23.79 per child but I'm assuming the odd numbers are because of the fuzzy-math factor of trying to disassemble a Disney vacation package.

On the basic plan, the math gives me $51.54 for adults. QSDP is $34.99 and the only one where the math comes out even, which makes me wonder if they've added in weekend pricing or something like that for the higher plans. I didn't work out the kids' prices for the plans we're not likely to use, sorry.

ETA: strike the weekend theory, no matter what dates or length of stay I put in I get that same 85.52 for adults. And I was using late January dates, so that's non-peak pricing. I didn't check to see if they've added peak season premiums to the DxDDP or QSDP.

Did you price the ddp during a peak or off peak period?

Thanks for doing the leg work.

It's hard to rationalize that price for the ddp unless regular menu prices go up very significantly next year and/or you love the mug.

I priced January, 3 nights, 2 adults.

Boardwalk Inn - standard view

No dining plan - $1684.26
Quick Service - $1894.20 - so $34.99 each - same as 2011
Regular - $1993.50 - so $51.54 each - + $5.55 per adult per night
Deluxe - $2197.38 - so $85.52 each - +$6.53 per adult per night

I priced July, 3 nights, 2 adults.

Boardwalk Inn - standard view

No dining plan - $1869.90
Quick Service - $2079.84 - so $34.99 each - same as 2011
Regular - $2191.14 - so $53.54 each - +$5.55 per adult per night
Deluxe - $2407.02 - so $89.52 each - + $10.53 per adult per night

with the loss of the 2nd snack that makes it approx a $5 increase on the QSDP.

I'm currently working out the full math on all levels for both normal and holiday. What's unknown is if they'll add multiple level of holiday pricing this year (which would be bad), but I'm going with the assumption that they are not.

Ok, the math is done, and you aren't going to be happy. Not only did the prices go up for both DDP and DxDDP, but DxDDP now also has extra holiday pricing :(. ($4 adult, $2 child). The percent increases are pretty astounding across the board too, looks like a larger relative jump than the ticket prices we just saw. This will certainly twist the math around for next year, but we won't really know until we see the menu price increases (and you know they'll be there), but first look really brings down the potential savings across the board, especially with QSDP (loss of a snack means it effectively went up about $3 per night) and DDP...

The math behind it was identical to the testing I did before, basically as follows:

4 base test cases for each level of plan, including no plan.
  • 1 Adult - 1 Night
  • 1 Adult, 1 Child - 1 Night
  • 1 Adult - 5 Nights
  • 1 Adult, 1 Child - 5 Nights
This was done using a Poly Garden wing room and 2 day base tickets as constants. The regular season pricing was derived from early Feb (2/2-2/3 for 1 Night, 2/2 - 2/7 for 5) and the holiday was derived from early July (4/4-4/5 for 1 night, 4/4 - 4/9 for 5). Child's age was 6 so as to insure he was actually a child.

There was an odd variation on the children's plans over 5 nights in normal season, and they were showing up $0.14 higher than the 1 night plan. The numbers also look weird to me, I don't like them not ending in 9 or 0.

I did I little playing around myself and when I went to book a package for May 2012, this is what I noticed:

- On the description for DDP, it does not mention a mug
- On the description for QSDP it mentions just 1 snack (of course)
- On the description for DxDDP, it also mentions just 1 snack per person, per night.

I was looking at a value for POP and it gave me 3 categories: Standard, Pref Room, and Pref Pool View. Is this last category new for POP? I never noticed it before. It was roughly $200 more per week than standard.

The DxDDP PDF file (brochure) lists it as 2 snacks per night, checked out the DxDDP page itself and it also lists 2 snacks per night (at least now, maybe they fixed it between your post and my check).

The room levels is certainly interesting, and Pref. Pool I do believe is something new. It may be a good thing too, as there are many complaints about the pool rooms at the values, and this may help people book preferred, but insure that they don't get a pool view :) (unless they get upgraded.)

Also interesting, they are publishing the holiday pricing dates (sort of)....

DxDDP thingy said:
In addition to your Disney Resort hotel accommodations and Magic Your Way Base Ticket, this vacation package includes the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan that can save you up to 30% per adult on standard dates and up to 35% for arrivals 1/1/2012 - 2/15/2012, 2/26/2012 - 3/8/2012, 4/15/2012 - 5/30/2102, 8/5/2012 - 12/20/201
Note: DDP one has 2011 dates.

So, reading it backwards, 2/16-2/25, 3/9-4/14, 5/31-8/4, and then 12/21-12/31 all fall under the increased holiday pricing.

Edit:
Also found something interesting, albeit unrelated to Dining Plans...
The Art of Animation resort is now on the list and appears to be bookable for dates starting 5/31... unconfirmed opening date? Or is it confirmed and I have just been out of the loop?

Maybe I'm the only one getting this, but when I go to book a Sept 2012 package (and I haven't looked anywhere else but the booking page) and go to select a dining plan, in the description of the DxDDP it only has one snack. There is also no mug listed for DDP. Not sure why, but it would be beneficial for them to fix it so that people who are booking today don't bypass either of those upgraded plans because they do not contain what is expected.

Nope, not just you, I see it now :). Was looking at the dining plan pages themselves, not the booking blub. Only goes to show that they're a bit lost on all their different content.

I'd assume that the 1 snack/night on DxDDP listed there is a typo, as it has 2 snacks/night listed in several other locations (including the primary brochure of info). :).

The .pdf brochures are generally the official last word on plan inclusions, and those have 1 snack removed from QSDP, a mug added to DDP, and no changes to DxDDP.

I saw that about Pop on the Pop FAQ thread and really like it. We like to be poolside and don't mind paying for it, but with one of the most common complaints about the resort being pool noise being able to book non-pool view preferred will probably be a perk for a lot of people.

Also, Art of Animation if bookable but appears to cost $50 more a night than the All Star Music suites, regardless of season.

This was taken for the PDF for the Dxddp so it looks like no changes to that one as of now....

Number of Meals During Your Package Stay
The Disney Deluxe Dining Plan includes three (3) Meals and two (2)
Snacks per person, per night of your package stay for everyone in the
party ages 3 and over. The plan also includes one (1) Resort refillable
drink mug per person, per package (eligible for refills at Quick-
Service locations only in your Disney Resort hotel). The example
below illustrates a dining plan for a three-night, four-day package.

THanks to those doing the break down of the meal plan pricing! I just wish they would straight out release that info right away.

I downloaded the DxDDP brochure for 2012, as that is what we'll be getting for our Grand Gathering trip. All the inclusions are definitely the same as this year.

I wonder if the non-Disney owned restaurants will sign on earlier than usuall this year because of the early package releases?

with the loss of the 2nd snack that makes it approx a $5 increase on the QSDP.

I don't want to split hairs, and I agree that reducing the quantity is the same as a back door price increase, but I would only value the snack credit at $4 max, and for most users it averages about $3.50 loss in value.

Wow...and I thought ticket prices went up. I hope they comtinue free dining at times next year otherwise there will be no way we can afford to go back.:scared1:

I don't think the dining plan is worth it anymore. We used the Deluxe Dining Plan on our last trip and only saved a few dollars. With the price increase and loss of 1 snack credit (using our TIW card), it will be cheaper for us to pay OOP. I guess we won't be using the dining plan for any future trips.

There was nothing removed from the DxDDP. I agree that the price increase is hard to swallow, but it does still include two snacks per the official brochure.

Someone posted that one snack on the DxDDP was taken away. I didn't read any further. You are right the price increase is hard to swallow. We used the DxDDP for 10 days this past May and only saved about $100 (we ordered appetizer, entree and dessert for every meal). With the new price increase $6.53 per day per person x 2 people x 10 days our DxDDP dining plan would have cost us $130 more (which wipes our any savings). Plus we probably would share an appetizer and my DH wouldn't order dessert which would save us even more.

I was undecided as to whether we were going to use the dining plan for our May 2012 trip (10 nights) and this price increase just made my decision easier. We definitely will not use the DDP or DxDDP for our 2012 trip. We will pay OOP and use our TIW card.
