2012? No Problem...but when?

Thanks for the Embird tips and it was claws and a paw that you convinced me to get last year not five star fonts. I probably have only used a handful of them but they come in handy. Thanks for checking the iconizer for me.

That beach house looks gorgeous and perfect for a family. I have never been to Destin but my neighbors loves it there. My family used to go to the Outerbanks for a week but we outgrew the house we used to rent and everyone has crazy schedules now.

Sounds like a perfect vacation. Beach time and fishing. I guess you better hit the library before you leave. I know the kids will have fun on that white sand beach.

Far be in from me to hijack, either. :rotfl2:

There you have it in black and white that I do not hijack threads. :thumbsup2

Now that that's been entered into the official record, this is what I was trying to do with SEU and finally gave up, but it made me wonder about Embird. (I won't even try to rewrite that sentence!)

I made tissue holders to be handed out as part of the childrens'sermon at church today. I wanted to put the name of the church and a cross on the back, but couldn't figure out how to flip the name of the church 180° and I couldn't figure out how to resize the cross to make it a little smaller. Could I do both of those things in Embird?

They took much longer to make than I expected -- it's good they were a labor of love and not money!

CUTE!

And I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do either of those two things...flipping a design is easy...as is resizing...although if it is words you want to resize there is really an additional step...sometimes the stitches look a bit off if you resize too much. (as me how I know!)

...an as for money...if I figure in my time I NEVER make money...just get enough to keep me in fabric...

These are just adorable.

OK...I admit it... I am not a fan of the new My Magic + or the Fast Pass +...but I will say I was extremely excited to find out that when I plug in my personal information it shows my ADRs all the way back to 2009...back when they first started letting you book your ADRs online! However, it doesn't keep your room reservations back that far...but I love looking at the past ADRs...reminding me where we ate this year. That year...

I will admit I see a lot of potential in this system...but I really wish Disney would fix what they already have in place before they roll out the 'new and exciting'!

Not Disney related AT ALL... but figure if I put it down in black and white I will actually do it!

When we bought our house 11 years ago, I HATED my kitchen. Now, you might ask why someone would purchase a brand new house and hate the kitchen ...well, I loved the lot and we were downsizing...and the builder gave us a great idea on how to best renovate the kitchen to get what I wanted. The space is there, but the layout is horrible! (the builder went bankrupt before he got around to renovating the kitchen, the master bath and finishing the basement... go figure!)

Now, I don't have the money to do what I really want to with the kitchen, so I am reduced to making small changes to tide me over for a bit.

Eventually, we are going to take down one wall and make the dining room part of the kitchen, move the laundry room to the garage and turn the laundry room into a pantry. The kitchen is already an eat in kitchen, and we never use the dining room... so we will make the breakfast nook a keeping room and use the extra space in the dining room to make a country sized kitchen.

While it really is only taking out one wall, it is an expensive wall to take out since it has all the plumbing in it. So, I make tiny changes to make me feel a little bit better about the space and trying to ignore the fact that I really hate the kitchen.

Of course, if I didn't insist on going to Disney every year for 10 days to 2 weeks, as well as a week long beach vacation every year I might be able to afford the kitchen redo a bit faster...but we all have our priorities! LOL!

Today, my counter tops are driving me crazy! They are a white laminate with a wood trim on them. I hate white in a kitchen...especially when you are a very messy cook. The counter tops have to be bleached at least once a week (usually once every day or so. due to the coffee and tea drops!) I really want a granite counter top. I had considered once, using granite tile to redo the counter tops, since once we redo the whole kitchen, the counter tops will be long gone...since they will change in configuration as well as location. Then I decided I probably wouldn't really like the look of that for long...

This morning as I was bleaching them again, I thought about how I really like shiny counter tops and really want some granite. I am now wondering how bad it would look if I put a granite slab only beside the stove. I have two small cabinets on either side of my stove, probably 2 feet wide each. Even if the home for the stove changes (which the current plans call for it to stay where it is), I would still be using the same small counters on each side of the stove.

My problem comes form the fact that the granite I use may not be available once I get around to finishing the kitchen...and I am not sure I will like the look of three different granites in the kitchen...because once we redo it, we will have an island, and I want a different color of granite on it (or maybe marble...that part is still undecided!)

The kitchen originally had white appliances (all but the refrigerator have changed out to stainless) white laminate counter tops, white laminate floors (which have been changed out to off white 24 inch ceramic tile) and white walls (which have been painted about once a year, but are now a couple different shades of green which I actually like!) My horrible cabinets are a light wood, sort of a cross between a light maple and a light pine. Can't stand them, but can't convince my husband to paint them...since they are real wood. (the one place they used something quality and I hate them!) There is also a stupid white tile back splash...that I really want something like a tumbled marble or glass tile...but can't make up my mind. and since only the back splash by the stove will stay if/when the remodel takes place I am having trouble convincing my self to put any real money into it!

OK..so now you see my problem. I want to redo the kitchen in small steps, don't want to commit to anything that will have to be redone, and can't afford to redo it the right way! (the last kitchen designer I spoke with laughed at me!...I can't imagine why???)

Oh yeah...forgot to mention...that I want to rip up the tile floor and put hardwoods down. We put hardwood in the rest of the main floor...and when we put them in the dining room I had hoped he would go ahead and put them in the kitchen...but he found a good deal on the tile, so I lost out. The tile will have to be removed when we eventually remodel... of course hubby thinks we can make it work without....

So, any ideas...other than therapy? LOL

Look at a composite counter top instead of granite. That way you could do it in pieces as long as the manufacturer still makes it.

I have a corian knock off but I love the look of Ceasar stone. Which is a manmade product.

Matching Granite and Marble is a PITA even when you buy it all at once.

We thought about that...but with granite being so cheap here, it really isn't something I can convince my husband is a good idea.

I know matching granite is hard, my friend had all her bathroom counter tops done from the same slab, and they look so different...the veining is just so random...of course, that IS what makes it beautiful!

I really love the Carrera marble for the island (great for baking) and a brown speckled granite for the counter tops. I have expensive tastes, but when it comes right down to it, I am not in love with the most modern looks...so the actual stuff I go for is the kinda plain and old. My husband keeps trying to talk me into the black granite...but I do not want a black and white room...

Any way...if I have time today, I may head out to one of the granite yards and see what they have in a cheap small slab-bet.... maybe I can get a couple of pieces to put on the side counters of my stove. At least them I will feel like I am making some progress...I might even look at some paint samples for the cabinets...If I plan it right, hubby wouldn't even notice it until a few weeks had passed..he is on nights right now.....

I was feeling a little down (ok a lot down) because my launch items were not selling the way I had hoped. I know we are all our own worst critic, and I was spending way too much time making each seam 'perfect', even to the point of having to recut the fabric because the needle marks were too 'obvious' for my tastes.

Then, while we were at Disney in December, I had a message from the person who had bought one of my past launch outfits wanting to purchase two more customs. January was a busy month for me.

In this business, it is either feast or famine! No one seemed to even notice my launch dress (except for the one person who told me I could sell it better if I didn't have such a skinny model!) Then, yesterday I had so many orders I had to actually put the last two on a wait list... and two more inquiries!

Seriously? So, I now have so much work I can't believe it...but I am at the mercy of the shipping schedule from the places I ordered from online...and a trip to Joann's and the quilt shoppe.... which I hate...simply because they charge way too much ....and have way too many choices!

This is going to be a nice boost to my Disney fund.... so I better get cracking!

Nini

I hear you. I hadn't gotten any bites on things for a while and now I havve 3 pending orders. I am trying desperately not to overbook myself right now. I am finishing up a tee shirt order and a tshirt and outfit order this week.

I know it's so easy to look down at yourself... But you are an amazing seamstress Nini... I received a not so nice comment the other day too... and it's amazing that one little comment like that can really throw you for a loop and make you second guess everything you do and make you wonder why you try so hard...

I am so happy that you were able to get several orders out of the launch... I know I would order from you is I could get away with wearing your beautful things. <3

D~ I missed the actual comment, but saw your posts about it. I was flabbergasted! I can not believe people can be so mean spirited!

I have a 'friend' that is always posting odd ball stuff on my business page...like comments about how expensive I price things, and on the TA page about how I should be giving away trips for free since she is my friend. I am constantly having to delete her posts...I know she is playing, but it really gets my goat...

To have a stranger do that...I seriously can't believe it! If I see something of someone's that I don't like, I move on...I would NEVER think of leaving a negative comment...not even on the 'goat chewed felt"! I was brought up with the if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.....(but don't take that as meaning if I don't comment I don't like...when reading from my phone, I rarely make comments...I have enough trouble typing with a full key board...much less on that tiny thing!)

I would be honored if you wore something I made...and a bit jealous...since I could never make something in my size...LOL...I can't even get my daughter to wear anything any more!

Chiara... I always worry about getting too much on my plate. That is when things (like life) happen! If I were pregnant I would only do what I wanted to do and would never think of taking on orders! I am always amazed at how much you get accomplished!

I now have a little over $100 in fabric washing. It dawned on me as I was looking at the Fairy Frost...I have two prices on everything. Prices where I use Joann's fabrics and prices where I use the good stuff! I even quoted two prices to my customer...probably shouldn't have! LOL...

Nini

Yah - she apologized... and I am over it... I think.

I agree totally - I would never say anything rude to anyone... At least not typed - I occasionally (um, OK - all the time) put my foot in my mouth IRL - but that's because I am always speaking - not that I am necessarily thinking about what I am going to say first. <--- No excuse, I know.

If you make me something Nini - I would totally wear it. <3 However - since I am making Suzi ruffle butt bloomers with a fly away top for her trip to the MOA - I would kindly ask that you don't make me the same thing - I don't want her to think I am CASing her idea. ;)

Oh shoot...I totally thought you would want to be matching! LOL

Unfortunately - I think the ruffles on the behind would accentuate my rather large derriere... I think I might be better off with a dress - then you could put ruffles on the back if you'd like. :rolleyes1 I do like ruffles... :scratchin

OK... I feel like I am in stalker mode here! LOL!

We have had some trailers parked behind our house for a couple of days now. It has been driving me c-r-a-z-y! They are bright blue and no way to miss them.

Found out yesterday it is because a movie is being filmed back there. It stars Hugh Jackmand and Jake Gyllenhall. Today I decided to do some research...simply because I am waiting on some measurements to get started on some dresses and have nothing constructive or fun to do! LOL!

Late yesterday evening, I found out they were filling up huge water tankers from the fire hydrant at the end of our subdivision. Since we have had rain for the past SEVERAL day ( enough to officially end the three year drought) I thought it a bit odd.My husband was trying to tell me the trailers behind us were for the actors dressing rooms, but I doubted that...no windows!

After my research today I did manage to discover, they are from a company called Rain For Rent... their company web site doesn't mention rain for movies, but it does all fit! This morning I saw them emptying the water from the tankers into the large trailers...and leaving to refill and come back!

There are approximately 5 trailers that I can see, with each one taking about 2 tankers to fill.

I have also seen some boom trucks ..the kid where they put the cameras on them for getting the high up shots.

Of course, the workers do NOT like my Mr Max! He is a 120 pond German Shepherd and the men are standing about 10 feet from our back fence! There is a buffer zone of trees between them, and all the trees have lost their leaves..it IS Winter after all! Every time they move, he charges the fence. They are yelling and throwing things at him...he think they are playing! LOL...

My 12 year old daughter wants us to cut some more trees down (NOT HAPPENING!) so she can see Jake Gyllenhall.... I tried to explain that where we are, we will only see the backstage stuff, none of the actors or action...she doesn't believe me. She wants to take a walk in the 'woods' today...she is very upset that I said no! LOL...

So now you know the terrible truth about me...I am a Hollywood Junkie... and could turn int o a stalker with very little effort! LOL!

Nini

LOL That is awesome! How fun to have all that taking place in your back yard... It's very hard to visualize though - photos would be wonderful... ;)

D~

At least we know the production should start in the next day or so...

Two 'dressing room' trailers have now moved in. Miss B wants me to go sit by the fence and get better pictures! If it weren't raining, and I didn't have therapy this afternoon I might consider it! LOL!~

Stalk away. Tell Jake I said hi. I think Miss B needs to take the dog for a "walk" by the fence.

With all this rain they should have started filming yesterday so they wouldn't need the rain trucks. At least it is temporary and the trucks will be gone soon.
