2012? No Problem...but when?

I love my family! I really do! Just sometimes I wish I wasn't the kind of mom that drops everything to help out the grown kids when they ask.

My daughter was finally released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. They have no clue as to what was going on with her. The barium enhanced CT scan showed nothing out of the ordinary. The morphine did nothing for the pain. They are thinking maybe it was some sort of food poisoning. Which is slightly strange. Most food poisonings (that carry with it THAT much pain) are rarely only 24 hours in duration!

Yesterday we had a marvelous Easter...of course the Grand Princess was in pain the whole time...right up until it was time for us to leave. They finally got her to take her pain meds 30 minutes before we left. At least the next set of grand parents got to have her for a while with her in a good mood.

After we got home yesterday I managed to teach myself how to shirr... maybe not such a big deal to you...but to me! IT! IS! FANTASTIC! NEWS!

I have been looking for a more fitted top to go with an outfit in my head and now I have another tool in my arsenal to make it happen! I have a Minnie Mouse fabric top on my machine that is just begging to be finished. If it turns out half as nice as I see it in my head I will have a winner!

The next launch for Main Street Boutiques will be on June 5th...our theme is Four Parks One World. I am going to try and get 2 outfits done (although I am currently seeing them as 4 in my head...I'm strange like that!) One will feature Animal Kingdom and one will feature Hollywood Studios. I am really excited about this launch. Even more so than the last one!

I should be down sewing, but my older son just called and asked me to come over an watch the grand princess while he works on the car again! So, as soon as both short people wake up and eat a bite we are off to his house to play with a grumpy Princess!

Tomorrow I have a full day with therapy and doctor appointments with Mr D and then tomorrow night we have a DIS meet ... where I get to meet the fabulous Heather Sue! I have been looking forward to this since I first found out she would be coming to GA for her classes. I also will get to meet up with Jessica Lee and maybe a few others. (are you coming Marianne?)

So, it maybe a few days before I can get back to the studio...just hope I don't forget what I want to do by then! LOL!

(and I think hubby is going to kill me...he brought me a shirt he wanted his business logo on. The shirt has made it to the studio, but that is as far as it has gone! He is planning on wearing it today! OOOPS!)

Nini <------ is hoping she will be gone before hubby realizes I missed his deadline. (he is such a demanding customer but pays horribly!)

I made the decision to something a little different than we had planned for Mr D's birthday. I thought about making it a Birthday breakfast instead of dinner. Still at Chef Mickey's, just a different time.

I tried all day yesterday from my son's house and all morning (since 5 am) trying to get the system to allow me to pull up ANYTHING! No luck...at all!

I've used 3 different browsers and still no luck (I know the Disney system really hates Chrome). If I actually call Disney to make the reservation switch, Mr D will hear and there goes the surprise! At this rate I am ready to throw the Disney dining system out the window!

Rant over!

(But hey...this one was at least Disney planning related! LOL!)

Yawn...

Yes, it IS awfully early.

Especially considering I didn't get home until 12:45 last night.

Five am came really, REALLY early this morning...

And, Miss B is not happy with me right now...

But, it was ALL worth it!!!

I met Heather Sue and Jessica Lee last night! We had a blast...or at least I did! I swear it didn't feel like it was that late. (in case you can't tell...I talk a LOT!) I just really feel bad that Heather had to get up and go to class this morning. I really hope I didn't talk too much or embarrass myself too much with my stories...but it was fun!

Funny, it was as if we had known each other our whole lives, when it was the first time I had met either of them in person.

I can't wait until January..I HAVE to get to Disney now for the DisMeet!

Nini

It sounds like you had fun Nini - I wish I cold have come.

And I doublt you embarassed yourself. LOL I'm the one who always does that. ;)

This post has nothing to do with Disney. I am having trouble finding a way to tie these two in together!

I spent the better part of yesterday at the emergency room...seems I decided I wanted to try and break my toe. I almost succeeded...I did manage to dislocate it, and give the connecting bone from my toe to my foot a small hair line fracture.

I have decided the emergency room is the medical equivalent of speed dating! You have only a few minutes to make your case. If you fail to give enough and/or the right information you are doomed for a lengthy miserable time!

I also found the lack of privacy maddening! While it took them over an hour to find a private room to give me the results of the x rays, they had no problem taking all my medical information (including any drug and alcohol problems) in a room full of people! (and yes...one of the lines in all the paper work I had to sign did indeed spell out that I had no expectation of privacy while in the ER!)

A sleepless night was my pay for all my problems. I was not in pain actually, just a great deal of discomfort. Today, the only pain I feel is on walking, so it looks like by tomorrow I should be back to normal. So, yet another day of non sewing and zero productivity!

Now, how can I tie this all in to Disney planning...oh I know. I called Disney dining yesterday to discover that, yes the system is down with no idea as to when it would be back up and running. It looks like I won't be able to change our dinner reservation on Mr D's birthday to a breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey's...the only things available are at 7:45 and 11:25. Neither of those will work for us, so we will just keep the dinner at 7.

Now for another day of boredom with Mr D watching Transformers and me going slowly out of my mind!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your toe! And I do agree with the comparison ... though I never associated the two. But you're right on target with that. And if the triage nurse doesn't like the way you smile, forget it. :sad2:

I went to the after-hours clinic once. I didn't know what was wrong, but it hurt to do anything -- especially breathe! So they sent me to ER... asked to call an ambulance and everything. I wanted DH to go with me, so I went home. They promised they'd call and let them know I was coming and to move fast. After sitting in the lobby for 6 hours, I was so miserable, I left. I asked several times when I'd be seen and was told I was at the bottom of the list since a cough wasn't serious. :confused3 I never told them I was there for "coughing" ... I was there for chest pain.

I ended up going to UTK's ER the next morning, where they took it seriously and treated me quick. (Turned out I had a very nasty case of pneumonia, followed by an allergic reaction to the antibiotics -- which they treated me for quickly as well.)

I confess, the ER @ Celebration near WDW was amazing! They got me in quick, had me in a private room, they apologized over and over for my waiting. I wanted to pack up the whole ER and bring it home with me.

Enough threadjacking (hadn't done it lately, I was overdue) ... I hope your toe feels better soon! I know what it's like to injure a toe (I broke two toes the day our 8th grade went on a spring break field trip to FL -- that was fun). :lmao: Did you know there's not a whole lot they can do for broken toes? At least not back then there wasn't ... medical tape and keeping them wrapped.

Anyway, feel better soon! Maybe something else will open up at CM's. Be sure to check for an ADR cancel thread. It's how I snagged my CM ADR! :thumbsup2

I think it is fabulous that you met Heather and Jessica, I am debating the January DisMeet if I can talk DH into letting me go and find someone to watch C and get her to school J would have to come with me.

Nini I think Test Track is slated to reopen the first or second week in September.

:scared: Ouch that sounds painful with your toe.

:goodvibes How sweet that you all got to meet up. I saw the picture on FB looks like everyone was having a great time.

I hope you toe is healed quickly. It sounds painful.

Glad you had a fun night with Jessica and Heather.

Since it seems the Disboards might be back up and running again...I felt the need to post something.

1- Sure hope that Test Track will be up and running when we go...otherwise, I am going to have one very upset little boy on my hands! (I really love the way Disney has forgotten to plan this thing completely through...but I will be nice and not actually say what I am really thinking!)

2- The rumors about Be Our Guest are really flying fast and hard right now. One rumor is that they are looking for an early July opening date...hoping to cash in on the heavy 4th of July crowds. Of course, I will be stalking the ADR system looking for it to be added.

3- With the crazy ADR system right now....I missed out on getting my Chef Mickey's for breakfast for Mr D's Birthday Breakfast...but we will keep Chef Mickey's for his Birthday dinner.

155 days and 19 hours and 56 minutes until we leave for Disney...not that I am counting!

Nini

I sure hope TT is up an running for your trip! When is the scheduled open date?

That would we super awesome if BoG was open in time - I'd be stalking it too. LOL

Sorry about CM... Keep watching for it though - something might open up. :)

Yay!!! 154 days to go!!!! WHOOT!!!!

Well, yesterday when I checked the official Disney site ...it is still not showing as being closed for refurb...so who knows when it will open! On the time boards at Epcot, it is shown as "renewal"....

I'm just hoping that it will be ready by the time September comes around.

August 16, 1977

To most people (if they know of any significance with that date) it is the day Elvis died. To me and my husband, it is the day we got married.

This year makes 35 years. I want to do something special for our anniversary. I had wanted to do a cruise and vow renewal, but when I saw the price of a Disney cruise I very VERY quickly changed my mind!

I would love to be able to go to Disney ... just the two of us...but I have two kids that need a babysitter...and school would have just started a week or so earlier...and there is the slight problem that we will be heading to Disney in a little over a month... so I seriously doubt I can convince hubby that we need to take two trips in such a short time! (and let's not forget the fact that one kid is home schooled. So whoever gets the pleasure of babysitting him will have to deal with him all day!)

Although...I do have two free nights at a moderate, and I can get the (4 day) military tickets for $138 each... then I would just have to add the meals and gas for the trip down...

So, does anyone have any ideas for me? Looking for cheap....'cause that is how I roll! LOL!

Today, my grand Princess has a second surgery to redo something that didn't quite work right on the first surgery 5 weeks ago. (well, it was actually her 5th surgery overall...but the second one this time around) It was supposed to take about 30 minutes. It took over an hour. They were supposed to just have to clean off some dead skin and tissue from the wound site so that the new skin and tissue could grow without infection taking over. They were also supposed to pull the last of the pins put of her ankle. Then resplint it and make sure the foot was in the right angel.

They discovered the infection and dead skin and tissue went a lot deeper than they thought it had. They had to go all the way to the bone to get it all. Then they packed the wound with gauze. Now, they have to go back in on Monday to repack the gauze. Then, depending on how it is looking on Monday she may have to go back under on Tuesday to do it again.

I find it amazing that a surgery can still be considered a success if they have to go back in ...not once, but twice...and maybe even three times!

She is only 4 years old. How are you supposed to make her understand? (especially when the adults in her life can't understand!)

Also, this weekend marks the 7th anniversary of the accident that changed my life forever. Today we are having the same kind of gloomy weather we had that day. As Mr D is taking his afternoon nap, I can't help but keep looking at him and thinking how lucky we are that he is still with us. How much he has improved during these past years, how many times he has proved the doctors wrong.

I can't help but think how much my Mom would love seeing my grand Princess. I know she is smiling at us every time she hears her call me Memaw. (that was my special name for my Mom...and all the grand kids started calling her that. When my grand Princess started calling me that out of the blue it was strange...and bittersweet.)

I miss my mommy!

Oh Nini - I am so very sorry. I can't imagine what you are going through today, and how painful it must be to have the same sort of gloomy day on the anniversary that started it all. Many (((BIG HUGS))) to you my friend. I wish I could just reach out and make this day easier for you.

I am so sorry that the Grand Princesses' surgery did not go well. I don't understand how they can consider it a success either. It's just not right. I hope she heals quickly this time. :flower3:

Dear Nini,

I wanted you to know I am all caught up again and keeping you in prayer. You have such a full plate and so many challenges PLUS you are a busy lady with your sewing. Just wanted to say I was here and thank you for being so faithful to your family.:hug::hug: I hope you can work it out to get away, just you and hubby...

Blessings,
Judy

Short update on the Grand Princess. She had her procedure yesterday morning. Again, it was supposed to take 30 minutes and it ran for an hour an a half. While it did look better, there was more new 'yuck' under the new pink tissue.

I have to pause here to say ...that is the exact wording the surgeon used. She is refusing to call it infection! When tissue turns black an smells like a dead body it is not 'yuck' it is infection!!!

They removed more 'yucky' tissue, cleaned and repacked the wounds and wrapped. They also remembered to take a culture of the removed tissue to make sure the antibiotics they are giving her are the right ones. (seems to me it should have been done at the FIRST sign of infection...)

She has to go back on Wednesday to have this done all over again, and then again on Friday. If there is not enough improvement by Friday, they will admit her. Basically, from one Friday to the next...she will be put under FOUR times! I guess they are going one for each year she is old!

Her surgeon is going to confer with a plastic surgeon and an infections disease doctor. (again, why confer with an infectious disease specialist IF you keep saying it is NOT infection??) She MIGHT need a plastic surgeon....really? This child is only 4 years old. The foot they operated on is TWO and a HALF sizes smaller than her other foot! It is tiny! I mean seriously Tiny! She had surgery where they put SIX pins in her foot/ankle (and a 6 inch rod in her leg) and she now has TWO open wounds in her foot that go all the way to the bone!!! Each wound is between 4 and 6 inches big! (remember I said her foot is TINY!) And she MIGHT need a plastic surgeon?

Oh yes...I forgot about the fact that she might loose her small toe. It has been black since the first surgery. There was a slight indication that there might be some pink tissue starting to form.

In case anyone has any doubt about this...I am LIVID! It is bad enough to know that my baby is in this much pain...but to think that it could have been avoided if they had just waited a bit to do the surgery. The surgeon has now said she should have waited until the foot was bigger to do it... they did too much at one time.

Sorry.... I just really needed to vent.

I now know that the Disney anniversary trip will not happen, even though it will cost the same thing to go to the beach or mountains for a weekend trip. I might just have my daughter watch the kids and we will stay home and not answer the phone! LOL!

Nini

Nini I have no words to discuss the aggravation I am feeling for you. I seriously would be finding a malpractice attorney and a new doctor this is horrible.

I have you all in my prayers.

Oh Nini - I just want to say again how angry I am for you and your family, your poor little GP - I feel so badly for her, and I just can't imagine how angry you all are right now. I do think it is time to contact an attorney - especially since it seems that her entire life will now be affected by the bad judgement of the surgeon. (((Big Hugs)))

D~

Oh no Nini! I was so hoping that your grand princess was going to be okay. What an ordeal for her to go through and it must be killing all of you around her too. Keeping my fingers crossed that this nightmare ends for you all soon.
