2012 Marathon?

Totally agree.....we need a 2012 Princess 1/2 Motivation thread!!!!!

I too and training for the princess 2012! Was hoping to run in 2011, but I have a work conference that week that puts me on the other side of the country! :sad2: So 2012 here I come!! We should start a thread for all of us looking for early motivation!! :goodvibes

BUT unless something changes expect the 2012 Half to be on January 7 and the 2012 Full to be on January 8
For 2013... 12 & 13 (Note the Disney has varied on this weekend in the past and the races could be 5 & 6)
2014 - 11 & 12
2015 - 10 & 11

I'm hoping to do a race in 2013. I could do the 12 & 13 but the 5&6 would be even better.

Count me in for my first full in 2012. Already planning my DVC points for that first weekend.
I'm doing my first half at the Princess in '11. Can't wait. Upto 9m for my long run and having a blast.

I'm actually planning on doing the Princess 1/2 @WDW, then the 1/2 in DL that same year to earn the Coast to Coast medal. I am saving every penny for this trip and I cannot wait!:cool1:

That would be so much fun!!!!! My DH is in the Marine Corps so if we are in Cali I might do the same thing....I already told him If we get stationed in FL or CA i will be buying annual passes for either WDW or DL Good luck to you. Are you a "runner" or just starting out?

I did my first (& only so far) half at the Princess in 2009. I have set my sites on the Disney full in January 2012. I had originally hoped to run the full in 2011 before my 50th birthday but the timing just isn't right with stuff going on in my life. I decided I like the idea of doing it after my 50th so that I can prove to myself 50 is just a number. I talked to a lady in her 70's after the F&W half who said she didn't start running until later in life (the way she talked I assumed she didn't start until her 60's). She said she had done a full and about a dozen halfs. I figure if she can do it, so can I.

It's never too late. I am associated with a coach who started running in her mid 50's and did her first ironman in her 60's. She is still a strong performer in her 70's

Jumping on the band wagon but I'd really like to try for Goofy in 2012. I've done the Wine & Dine half and I figure if I start training in November that is (hopefully) enough time to do Goofy. See it's tax season and since 2012 has the races earlier in January I have more of a chance to break away and go down.

Coach - If you don't mind my asking.. where can I find some good Goofy training plans??

Glad I found this thread...I just finished the Wine and Dine Half..hopefully will do that one again next year in 2011 (that time of year is my favorite to travel) and I really want to do the full in 2012!! I am glad I am not the only one planning on my first full in 2012 :goodvibes

I'm a walker and started in 2006 for my first half. I've done numerous halfs and 2 fulls.

That is so awesome!!!! I hope to get there some day. I have never done a race b4. unless you count the 1 mile fun run i did with my kids lol

I just started running in 2009 and completed my first half marathon at disney this year :goodvibes you can do it!

You can totally do a half, or full. Start slow and work up to a 5k, 10k, then do a half. I don't think I'll do anymore full's, but will definately continue walking half's. You should do the Princess in 2012...seems like we have a small group going already!:cheer2:

Just wanted to give you another "you can do it" (think Waterboy).

When I decided to do my first 5K I was able to run a mile and at that point felt like death. It took me about a month to go from one mile to a 5K (and that first race took me over 30 minutes). From that first 5K in Feb 2005 I was able to run my first half at Disney in January 2006.

If you want to do it you will, the mental part of running is really the hardest part.

2012 is on my list to do as my first full marathon. Most likely my "one and done". As I have foot health issues, in need of corrective surgery and that isn't happening until after Princess. So, that should give me time to recover and start to train. I have had a surgery previously, so I kind of know what to expect.

Yeah...my plan as of now is to do the full in 2012 for my first full (unless the appeal of the Nike Women's sucks me in first...) and follow that up in November with the NYC Marathon!

Thanks for the "you can do it" I feel like I never get a chance to work on more than that 1 mile run.....I have a 3yr old, a 4yr old and a 5yr old that keep me pretty busy lol But I know I will do it. right now i can run/walk a 5K with the kids in a double jogging stroller in about 45 mins I figure with out the kids (an extra 100lbs with kids and stroller together) i should be able to do it in 35-40 mins

PS I really love the water boy quote....that was the movie my hubby and I went to on our 1st date LMAO

I am sooo dead set on doing it!!!!!! It is a HUGE personal goal of mine to run 1 half and 1 full in my life I guess you can say it is on my "Bucket list" lol
I feel like that hardest part is working up to the 5K But I just need to stop and take some time for me to make this goal happen. My kids are so close in age (3,4,and 5 yrs old) it is hard to get some Mommy time alone lol
