Thanks to everyone for all of the great info and tips in this thread!!

I am curious if the lodge rooms are a separate booking category or is there anyway to request that section? We are looking for a 2 bedroom dedicated. Are there any of those units located in the lodge? If not, where would the closest units be located?

Thanks in advance!

Oh my, found our beloved thread on page 4. Not sure how that happened.

I need some updates of what all is going on in HHI. How is everyone's trip going or gone. I have been bad and still haven't gotten my pics off my Iphone to put them on here. Any body else have any photos to share. what about pics of the fireworks there.

Two years in a row, the fireworks were cancelled while we were there. This year the weather was good, so not sure why.

Everything Disney was wonderful! DSs and DH went shark fishing again. DS17 went kayaking. Not a lot for the older kids..and having the age span 13-17 they weren't too willing to be at the events when they saw it was all young kids. DS12 ran into the same thing as the oldest of that age group. They made friends on their own, tho.

My biggest complaint was with BikesToGo. I stupidly didn't know we could rent from DVC. The bikes we had were old and rusty and DS12's actually broke on the way back from the beach..and they don't answer their phones after 3pm. Still waiting to hear if they will refund. * We had to leave it locked to the General Store's rack and walk back.

*I left it to the company as to what refund would be fair, and they refunded the entire week for both bikes.

Unfortunately, no, the lodge rooms are not a separate booking category. All the villas in the lodge are lock-off studios and one BRs, I've never known them to be used as 2 BRs. The closest buildings are probably 13, 14, and 15 (in that order). But as is so often pointed out, it's a fairly small resort so you probably won't be too far away anywhere.

We're there now. The resort is fantastic. I needed a lodge room for the elevator. I requested one and was not assigned one, but i asked at check in and they gave me one in bldg 12. Unless you need the elevator, there is no advantage to the lodge. In fact, other areas are more centrally located. We did the pirate pool party last night and it was the best pool games party i've been to at any dvc. This is a great vacation. If you have questions let me know.

How much was the pirate pool party? Are there any characters at the party?

We'll be celebrating our anniversary in a 1 bedroom at HHI from 10/2-10/7. :yay:

We haven't been there in about 15 years. Anyone have any experience with the weather during that period? I assume that the beach house and pools are open. I'm going to request a marsh view; anything else we should request, like a specific floor?

Thanks for all the info on this thread.

Party and games are free. There is a bbq buffet that is 20 pp for adults and about 10 for kids. The buffet starts at 6:00. The games and party start at 6:30. But you dont have to buy the buffet to do the activities. We didnt but the food did look good and i would next time.

And no characters, but you wont miss them. The games and fun went to 9:00. At 9:00 i got dd out of the pool and we headed over to the boardwalk walkway to watch the fireworks. Lots of fun.

Ok, thanks! I was just curious because VBR had a pirate dinner when we were there and Donald and Goofy showed up dressed as pirates. Oh well, I guess VBR is not as far of a commute for them as HHR.

I can't help you with weather, but the pools are open year round. Make sure you tell them when you check in that it's your anniversary. Then watch the resort channel-

I had to watch this several times before I could get a picture. I was so excited, it's even OK that DH's name is spelled wrong. I think they also post birthdays, so tell them about those also.

Could not sleep so thought I'd say hello. Reason I can't sleep is I just learned that the offer I made on HHI points was just accepted by the sellers! I know, I know, I'm months from closing and deal can be ROFRed (been through this once - I own at OKW). I'm excited nonetheless! Plus it's a surprise so can't tell anyone at home. Well, thanks for listening!

Might not be going to HHI for a while, as we're already going to DW for 10 days on Christmas day. Still, can't wait to be there and meet some of you! I've been reading the thread trying to convince myself that I already owned enough point and that I could likely book a grand villa at 7 months off season. No use. You seem to be having too much fun!

That is terrific about the points! Hope all goes smoothly for you. Did you know that the grand villas there have fireplaces, and that the resort supplies wood? I remember a cute story a CM there told me. Points for a Grand Villa in February are supposedly very low. So she told me of a couple who comes every February for a few days and reserves a Grand Villa, just for the two of them. Apparently, she said, they don't have a fireplace at home, so they just stay in their GV and sit by the fire all vacation.

Congrats. I hope your HHI resale purchase goes as fast as mine did last year. Our offer was accepted 5/20/11. passed ROFR june2nd. We dragged our feet in wiring the money. Did that June 30 i think. Had the points not long after. I know I was in shock that it was less than 2 months from the time we decided to add on till when we had the points in our account.

Wow, I thought Disney took almost always a month to tell you that you passed rofr (but were faster to tell you that you did not). I have no idea of the current ROFR level for HHI. My deal is 50$ for 230 points, buyer pays closing, seller pays 2012 MF.

Hello everyone...

Just reading a bit on the board here... We are going down from 8/14-8/19.. We went for 2 nights a couple of years ago and only went to the beach and the pool.. it was our first trip there - and we were just "checking out" the resort...

Any tips on what to do and where to go would be great!

I saw some posting about a dolphin thing - is that through DVC? Also - do you know if they rent fishing equipment?? Any idea on bike rental pricing? Are there fireworks at the resort??? When we were there last time - it was 2 weeknights - so, nothing too exciting going on.. I remember games at the pool, etc... and a campfire....oh, and one of the afternoons we had rain :sad1: But, luckily it cleared up for the evening...

We are driving down from NJ - looking forward to the trip - but, not used to "relaxing" - I prefer the hustle/bustle of WDW - but, hubby wanted to take it easy! :beach:

Also - if anyone has a sample of the activities sheet - I would love to see it!!

THANK YOU in advance for your help!!!!

Are you driving straight through or stopping along the way? We are planning ahead for June 2013.
