Good Golly, I hope so!!! We have a trip booked for Dec. and I have to make ADRs in June, so I booked a trip with the DDP in hopes that they will offer FD.

Can anyone please answer some questions for me? Do you typically book your room first, and then add DDP when it is offered as free? Or do you book your room with DDP and then switch it to free later? Or do you not book at all until free dining is offered?

Also has free dining ever been offered mid November in the past?

I've always paid for DDP and love it but have never gotten it free.

I book my package with DDP and then if they offer free dinning then I quickly call them to try book with free dinning... Some resorts fill up fast as they only offer so many rooms offered with free dinning per resort.

This year we booked room and tickets in October but didn't get the DDP but will add later if there is a offer. DDP just isn't worth it anymore unless it's free or what I say a trade off for a room discount but the better deal. In past years we did book with the DDP then did the switch. I like to book now so I get a resort that I want.

This was my INITIAL thought, but then I looked at the historical dates on Mousesavers. Last year, they only announced the August/September free dining in May. This year, they announced it in March... two months earlier. so, I'm hopeful that they'll announce the Winter at least two months earlier as well.

That was my thoughts also, so I am hoping the announce free dining within the next month or so. No free dining no WDW in December.

Does anyone know if they have ever had free dining in the past during Dec. 15-22? We were thinking about changing our plans so was wondering.

Here are the dates that they offered FD last year.

October 1 – October 6, 2011
October 22 – November 3, 2011
November 12 – November 17, 2011
November 26 – December 1, 2011
December 10 – December 15, 2011

I sure hope they do again as we have a group of 20 going
Nov. 24-Dec. 1 or Dec. 1-8th/12.

A few other families may come but if no FD, then they might not be able to come?

As long as you check in on a day that it's offered, then you get it for the entire stay.

We go down the 1st week in Dec. every year with pop warner and now with AYF and right after we would leave they would offer the Free Dining. so this year will we be staying off site for the football/cheer week. then stay on Disney with the hopes of the FD offer available....

last year, free dining was extended to Dec. 17th, which fell on a Saturday. The 15th was on a Thur. So, if the same time frame is offered, this year that same Saturday is on the 15th!
That's why I booked for the 14th...on Fri...and even if the cut-off is the 13th..I'll just add a day!!
It would just be so much easier if they would send me a free dining pin now so I could quit obsessing!

Yes, you can add it later. That's what I've done. Just be prepared that you may have to change resorts if they don't have availability in your current resort. Last year, when I added FD, we had to switch from POFQ to POR.
