2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hi! What is the difference between the 1 bdrm dedicated and the 1bdrm lock off? I know that there will be two entrances, but other than that, is there a difference? Thank u!:goodvibes

Oops. I typed it wrong initially. Basically a lock off has a studio attached to it so it can become a 2 bedroom villa whereas a 1 bedroom dedicated does not have one attached so no door between them.

Hi, thanks for the replies to my previous questions.

Just have another regarding parking at BC.

Looking on google maps and can see the car park is across a bridge from the main entrance.
Where do the Disney busses pick up from?
And is there a walkway for pedestrians, I think I see something covered running alongside the bridge.
Also are you allowed to drive your car to the front of the hotel, thinking DH can drop us off and he can then go park?

Thanks again.

Well we took the plunge and changed from Standard - Waterview to Club Level - Standard View. We'll see if something opens up to Garden View but after we priced out breakfast and a couple of beers/wine glass, it pays for itself.

At least now I don't have to hide packing cereal boxes from the kids the morning of.

You will love hanging out on this thread. The people here know so much, and they love to share.

Happy reading!

Thank you! I am slowly but surely making my way through all 179 pages!:thumbsup2

Welcome and be sure to spend time on page one of the thread for great information on the thread.

Thank you for the welcome! I have read page one and there is a lot of information I didn't know when we went last year!

Welcome to the DIS and to this board. Adding you to the list.:banana::banana:

Thank you for the welcome and adding me to the list!!:woohoo:

Hello and Welcome!!! Isn't it funny that your teens and my teen LOVE Epcot, and yet I read on some threads how some adults AND teens/kids don't' enjoy it at all!!! My entire family spends EVERY night in EPCOT (except 1 which is saved for DD to see MK fireworks).

Thank you for the welcome!! It is funny how people don't like it.....my kids have always loved it. We like to eat our way around the world during the week!!:rotfl:

I really wish I had discovered DIS years ago! After all of the reading I have been doing I decided to call WDW and see if I could get the 25% discount now being offered through the dates we are going to be there (I booked months ago). The CM checked to see if our room was eligible and it was so just a few quick changes on her end and we saved over $600!! I had no idea they would do that but, trust me, I won't forget it now that I do!!:cheer2:

Hi! What is the difference between the 1 bdrm dedicated and the 1bdrm lock off? I know that there will be two entrances, but other than that, is there a difference? Thank u!:goodvibes

There are 3 kinds of 2-bedroom villas at BCV:
a) 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom
b) 2 bedroom dedicated with 1 queen and 1 sofabed in the second bedroom
c) 2 bedroom lock-off.

A 2 bedroom dedicated only has one entrance from the hallway.

A 2 bedroom lockoff is a studio next to a 1-bedroom. They can be booked and used separately (one family in the studio, another family in the 1-bedroom, connecting door locked). Or the connecting door can be opened, and they can be booked as a 2 bedroom.

A 2 bedroom lockoff has two entrances because the studio has an entrance and the 1-bedroom has an entrance.

Also, the studio portion will have a kitchenette, because studios have kitchenettes.

When people refer to a 1 bedroom dedicated, I think they mean a 1 bedroom unit which has no door connecting it to a studio, so it can't be turned into a part of a 2 bedroom.

Thus a 1 bedroom lockoff would be a 1 bedroom which does have a door connecting it to a studio and can be turned into part of a 2 bedroom. However, if you book it as a 1 bedroom, there will only be one entrance. You don't have the studio, so you don't get the studio entrance.

There is a covered walkway between the main building and the bus stop, which is across the roadway from the parking lots. Its a really short walk that looks a lot further away on the maps.

1. When walking from the hotel, if you walk through the covered walkway, bear to the left and that will take you to the bus stop.

2. Yes, he can drive up to the porte cochre and drop you off. That is also where the valet service is located.

Hi everyone!! I'm just wondering if anyone has a guestimate how much a taxi ride back to beach club would be from both wilderness lodge and poly? Also what is it standard to tip a taxi driver? Thanks for any in put! Our ohana and WCC dinners are the only ones not at Epcot lol and I think a cab home would be best those nights.

Hey Teena! Marleton! Nate! Others!

How is everyone doing? I keep thinking oh no I need to get to disboads and say hi and finally found a moment.

Sorry I haven't been on the past few months. Cliff notes...

Got promoted at work which means no time for any more fun time day time activities I used to be able to do while at work which has been a drag.

Free time is spent wedding/honeymoon planning, only three months to go now. Will post pics once it happens. Not a dis wedding though, could go on and on about how disappointing the disneyland wedding venues were.

BUT BUT BUT, we are coming back this early December for our third annual holiday trip to the ol' world. Still deciding where to stay, we have a bounce back booked at GF from last year but YC is home!!!

Will post some wedding pics once we have them!

KB24: Can't wait to see the wedding pics!!!

We're going to have 11 people on our trip next year and we really can't decide what to do about our room situation. We love CL and I've always wanted the lagoon view....it just makes me sigh when I see it.:goodvibes So we thought about trying to reserve the Presidential Suite and a waterview room but we can't do that on the 5th floor because the suite take 6 people and the waterview 4 people (even a garden view is only 4). So the only thing we could do is reserve three water views or the suite and a SV (bummer). The really bad thing is the 11th person is 3 years old!! I have no idea what we're going to do!!!!!!!!!!!

YCFAN... Have you considered BCV? Never done them myself, but they sound like they are roomier with more options for larger families...

Just a thought.

No, there are waterview club level rooms at the YC that sleep five (two queens and a daybed) so that would work.
Or there is the Presidential at the BC plus a waterview room. There is a king in the one bedroom, a queen and a double in second bedroom and a daybed in the library (7 people) plus a waterview with a daybed (5 people).

DisneyMomx7;44791156 Feckless - Have you eaten at Tutto Italian before? I was wondering how it compared to the "old Tutto Italia" menu. It's one of our favorite restaurants and we're booked there again in July. Sounds like you are definitely having a magical trip - I'm going to try to the Soaring after dinner trick![/QUOTE said:
no, we haven't eaten there before. I know that the people we ate with had been looking at the old menu, and missed the ribs that used to be served. The service was quite possibly the best I've ever had (the other family agreed) and my DH loved his meal, as did the kids, but the chicken I had was completely underwhelming.

So, had a BRUTAL time waking the kids and the other family for our 8:05 reservation at CP! The bus driver held the bus for the other dad, who had run back to their room to get sneakers for his DD. The sight of him running for the bus with all of us singing the Rocky theme at the top of our lungs and cheering was as memorable as the empty Magic Kingdom in the morning and walking on to Space Mountain! My voice is gone from involuntary squealing. LOL. I got diverted from my touring plan by the Next Gen fast passes I was given, and also DS asked for a Tomorrowland Speedway do-over (he ended up having his car driven by a CM last time) so we were NOT efficient. Sigh. Did the whole thing like amateurs! Hahaha Oh well, at least vie proved I'm not inflexible. The Fast Passes were pretty neat. When I scanned mine by the post with the etched in Mickey, the CM had to check his iPad and he addressed me by name. Kind of freaky!

Got back to the BC by 3, DD got a hair wrap with beads, I picked up the noodle family from Momto2Disneyboys (thanks!!!) and all kids went to the pool. I got a couple of Sunken Treasures (yes, they will make them!) and read my book by the pool for the afternoon. The kids were back in the room by 7 and DH and DS decided to do the movie on the beach and DD and I went to Epcot. However, DS was asleep before we kept the room and there he remains. LOL. I can't imagine what it's going to be like to go home and have to readjust our time clocks, but like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll worry about that tomorrow.

DS is sleeping in the rollaway and since DH sleeps the sleep of the dead, he is in bed with DD and I have a comfy queen bed to myself! Heaven!!!! LOL. Night all.

Rest day tomorrow!! :).

ooh how much are the beads? Do they have any disney related beads?

Also, how are you finding your wireless connection to be?

Thanks again for your updates!! I have been researching disney all night and was so excited to see your post :)

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed so much on this wonderful forum.

I found this site by accident last year when I was planning our first WDW holiday (vacation).

With two small children we had told them that it was likely to be a once in a lifetime family holiday for us as we come from Melbourne, Australia.

We loved our 11 day trip in 2011 so much that I have already booked for another 11 days in 2013.

We are all so excited and now that I have more time up my sleeve I look forward to reading about everyone's tips and tricks for the next year unit we are back!

Feckless I've been waiting and waiting to hear from someone that had been selected to use the New fastpass system!!!! Been checking on the Theme Parks board I think along with everyone else, to see if a Disboard member had been selelcted yet.

Can't wait to hear all about it when you return!!

Sounds like you're having a Wonderful Time.

Thanks again for taking time out of your vacation to update us!

Question: The walkway around YC/BC/BWI/Swan etc (or should I say around the lagoon) is how long?

If I remember correctly, poly was around $14 fare and although we never cabbed to WL, the contemporary was around $15. We basically gave them a $20 to make it easy and not have to figure change. I would count on around those prices for your trip!

I just have to share this news with people that understand. I called today to add a room request and the CM was wonderful and reworked some numbers for me which allowed me to change to CL. I am so excited!
:

That's the difference betwen 'us' and regular Disney tourist. Research and homework get us so much more out to the World. Congratulations Snowmiser. That is awesome.

I usually allow $20. I take a $10, a $5 and $ in 1's. Seems like it is around $10-$15 for most trips and I usually tip $3-$5. Not a standard. Just what I do.

Rest day tomorrow!! :).

Rest well Feckless. Rest days at Disney are priceless too. Sit back, relax and enjoy. And to echo Ocalla would love to hear about the new Fastpass but for now enjoy!

:welcome:
And welcome to all our new friends and returning veterans. And to everyone getting ready to leave :thumbsup2
