2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hey, Everyone! Just past the 180 day mark for our trip to BC! It will be our first time staying at this resort and we will be going October13-20. MNSSHP, F&W... So excited and this board is wonderful!!

I recently contacted the Yacht Club IPO to find out how to order resort specific merchandise for an upcoming trip. They gave me the number for the "mail order merchandise" department. Anyway, I just called the mail order department and the CM told me that they were discontinuing the resort specific merchandise. I kind of find that hard to believe since they have just fairly recently started selling it again. I wondered if she was mistaken or if the merchandise is really being discontinued.

If true, that is really sad news. In the past we bought more souvenir items since each park and each resort had specific merchandise. Since things became so generic (ie. saying Disneyland/DisneyWorld on the same item) nothing has really appealed to me. I hope this CM was mistaken!:confused3

Thank you pixarmom. I dont drink coffee and my DH never comes with us to WDW, but he is coming this time and he cannot function without it.

Honestly, it is getting to the point that I no longer trust ANYTHING said on the phone since it seems the CMs are often reading from "outdated scripts."

I cannot imagine they are giving up on resort specific merchandise (again) so soon after they brought it back.

Just my 2 cents ;)

This was my thought, too. It is frustrating but we will be there in a few weeks so I will ask the store CM's and report back.

I've seen various descriptions of the YC which state that every room has a patio or balcony (although some are "Juliet" or other reduced-size balconies). But on my recent visit, I discovered that isn't quite true - room 5163 has windows only.

This room is mentioned in a couple of old threads (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=749076 and http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1085480), but I'm curious if it really is unique. When I asked, the CMs that I talked to said that, as far as they knew, it is the only exception - but as just discussed, CMs aren't always well-informed...

Nope, unless it comes from a dispenser (soda/lemonade/fruitpunch, coffee, hot water, hot chocolate) it's a seperate charge for ala carte items, there are not substitutions.

Someone once mentioned that some resorts had juice in the am in thier soda machine but I don't remember anyone finding it lately.

However if you are on the DP you can often use your 'drink' credit at qs meals for a bottle of milk or juice.

Thanks~ I was hoping to fill some to have some in the morning. Thanks for letting me know so I am not wandering aimlessly around the resort with my mugs in my hand looking all lost!
:crazy2:

And then someone asked for an updated photo of the gluten free options - it's just jellybeans, caramel corn, cookies and brownies:

Pixarmom -- that was me who asked and thank you! You're such a doll. We're not gluten-free but we have a peanut allergy in the family and those items are nut free, as well. Thanks again! And glad you enjoyed your trip -- when are you going back?

This room is one of very very few (not sure exact number). Almost all YC rooms do indeed have a full balcony or patio. The Juliet style standing room only balconies are at the BC. :thumbsup2

Are you sure? If I correctly matched the outside of the building with the floorplan, it looked like at least rooms 3205 and 4205 only have standing balconies.

This agrees with the info I have been told about "very few" YC rooms without full balconies- not worth specifying full balcony for a request. I have not heard actual room numbers before, but I can try to confirm these.

My advice is to book without the request for a balcony, and at checkin, ask to make sure you have a full balcony in your room.

There are also a few supersized shared balconies, too. Not sure how I would feel about those. (Well, I would be OK, but DH might not love it)- from what I have heard from guests who have stayed there, the shared balconies are really nice, and you rarely see other guests out there.

Last full day here. Last chance to try the shark tube slide! I have done all of the others, but have not taken the "Leap of Faith"...

We have had awesome weather and my youngest son is becoming a snorkeling addict, which bodes very well for us for future trips! Snorkeling in the Digs Ruins was amazing, and a Manta Ray swam within inches of me and Nate, BUT they were algae blasting about half of the tank while we snorkeling and that part of the tank was pretty murky and loud.

Can't wait to post a few pictures and start a report!

Hope all of you are enjoying your trips this week or are gettin excitied about the ones coming up!

pixarmom- thanks once again for all of the helpful information

Tara- hope you are starting to feel better and getting past the pain.

To our friend out there- Give me a D:cheer2: give me a I :cheer2: give me a ....well you know how it goes.

Dee:

I would have to be VERY DRUNK to try that leap of faith!!!! NO Way would I get on that thing!!!

If you do, We want pictures :cool1:

Sad to hear it's your last day, but I hope it was a great vacation.

We are staying at the Beach Club for the first time in June. Does anybody have any suggestions for room requests? I thought about requesting a full balcony, but it will be June, so I question whether I will really want to be out there anyway. :p

We are a go-go-go park family, but this will be toward the end of our trip, so I imagine we will be slowing down somewhat by then (we are doing a split offsite, then onsite stay). Convenience would be a perk. I think we have a garden view category booked. 3 kids. They love to swim. Any ideas of locations that are better than others? Thanks!

Hooray! WE booked BC for October with our bounceback offer! Of course the offer was only good for our check in day but we will be back - October 6 - 10. So happy. We had a lovely visit at BWI last week but are really looking forward to BC in October.
