2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

CSI007 - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure your dad will be with you in spirit. :)
A QUICK UPDATE!!

REALLY?? does he know what goes into planning a trip like this so it can SEEM effortless???

:faint:
That's how it looks to non-DISers when they are on vacation with us!

We book YC CL but have not heard from the CL concierge. Should we have gotten a call?:confused3
I never got a call from CL Concierge - but maybe because I booked through a TA? I did contact them myself, because I wanted something that my TA couldn't get yet. (Wishes Dessert Party).

Long lost hello to all here! Haven't been around due to surgery and chemo, but so much better now!
I've been feeling that new outlook on life and well to top it off, today DH gave me a HUGE GIFT this afternoon-----
a mother-daughter trip to the BC next month! .
pixiedust:Wow that is awesome! Both that you are feeling great, and that your DH is so sweet to send you & your mom to BC!
regarding switching vacations- 185 teens at the All Stars vs. Family at BC- did you read further to discover no alchohol!
Trip is still up for grabs. I haven't had any takers yet. :confused3

You probably read further and discovered I was wrong about the valets- they are permitted to accept tips if they help you out.
I did read your no alcohol post afterwards, and felt soooo badly for you! egads! will there be room checks? I think would have to sneak a bottle of wine in my room for after the kiddos are in for the night. ugh! sneak over to YC and I will share a glass with you. SHHHHHH

:wave2:

That's WAY better than my mother's day gift. We have 4 10-11 year olds sleeping over to celebrate my son's birthday. Didn't realize it was Mother's Day when we scheduled it and - shocker- none of the other moms had an issue with their sons waking up somewhere else on Mother's Day.

.
DOH! that is a tiring mothers day morning for you!!! Hope DH is treating for dinner tonight!

We are having a great time; the weather is beautiful and the crowds are not crazy. Missed the gator so far and hope we don't see him at all!

One thing that had grossed me out is that I thought all the bed linens were changed between guests. Found a lovely surprise (ugh!) under the little decorative runner at the end of the bed... Someone used the duvet as TP. I thought my son got chocolate on it until I started to clean it up - yuck!!!

I'm going to ask mouse keeping to change ALL the linens in the morning but ewww. I am so disappointed; I thought this stuff was always done.

Everything else has been great. The pool is unbelievable! We have a great room by the door closest to Epcot. It is so convenient. Went to the barber shop yesterday and dd 14 got the glitter pony tail - so cute! My DH got a haircut and the stylist put a Mickey on the back of his (balding) head with pixie dust - soon cute! I will post pics when I'm back home.

ICK on the bedding - glad they cleaned it up right away.

Did your DD and DH get their hair cuts at the YC or was that at the MK? Just wondering. I have been trying to talk DH into getting a mickey in the back of his head -- but he said it would look bad sticking out from his hat (he's a police officer) when he's in uniform after vacation :rotfl2:

LOVE the gator photos and jokes. :rotfl2:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Does anyone know the quickest method to get to Typhoon Lagoon from YC? I used the transportation wizard on here and it says to take a bus to Blizzard Beach, but its blank for Typhoon Lagoon :(

Also, my parents are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and according to the website its a 90 min bus ride, but only a 15 min walk. Do you find the site to be accurate as I'd obviously much rather walk, but only if its 15 minutes or so.

Thanks in advance!

Check out the post count on the Sunken Treasure picture!

Once again, on behalf of all of the BC/YC devotees- thanks for your wonderful reports and pictures. Let us know if you start up a trippie.

Love your room view!

Stealing the Sunken Treasure picture for Page 1!

Woot! My first pic for Page 1!!!! :) And from the "post of the beast" as well!! I'm going to do a full TR because I want to remember every detail of my trip. And share it on the internet. LOL

Can't help with the POFQ question, but we got a bus to Typhoon Lagoon and back. It goes to a few other resorts and then through DTD so it is a pretty brutal trip, especially on the way home, but we would do it again.

HTH a bit!

How many of you are there? Honestly, for us it was worth it to take a taxi. Depending on the time of day, if the bus stops at all of the DTD stops first, it adds a lot of time to the trip. In 2010, I think the cab fare was around $12, so $15 with tip. Your mileage may vary!

You can probably catch the bus BACK to the YC if you are going directly to the resort, in the afternoon or evening.

Happy Mom's Day!!!!

I'm just grinning from ear to ear. Being with Jeanne and Lily on Mother's Day is a dream come true. I usually spend it at the BC in the lobby!

Today Lily is going to her other Grandmom's later in the day. Jeanne and I have a four hour wedding dress appointment to buy her her Disney wedding dress.

I hope everybody has a wonderful day!!!!

......Trying to catch up.....

Happy Mother's Day!

One of my sons went to the prom last night and we had a LARGE sleep over. It all went well. Trying to recover from my lack of sleep. Boy I must be old! :rotfl: I used to be able to stay up all night and be fine the next day.

Our nice neighbors invited us over for a Mother's Day celebration later. I guess our party didn't bother them too much.

Teena, I love the picture of you pushing the stroller! Enjoy your visit! I will hope to see you next month. I'm checking in to BCV 6/22 & checking out 6/24. Then I'll be at BLT 6/24 - 7/1.

To all at WDW, Have a wonderful vacation!

I know ... I used to be able to stay up late ... not anymore. It's rough getting old!

I won't be there when you are there. My Mom always took me on a mother/daughter vacation each year and when my Mom passed, I started taking Jeanne on a mother/daughter vacation to keep the tradition going. No men, no kids ... just some "women time". This year we leave on 6/23 for a dude ranch in Buena Vista, Colorado. We fly back on 7/1. They've informed us there is no cell phone service, only electricity is generators so after "lights out", you need to bring and use flashlights. It's not really roughing it though. We have our own two bedroom cabin with maid service. It should be a hoot! I think maybe after this, we'll go back to the caribbean.

That is a wonderful tradition! I hope you and Jeanne have a fantastic time! My family would love to try a dude ranch. Funny that the town is Buena Vista! Maybe there is some WDW magic there? pixiedust:

When we decided on a dude ranch, I did lots of research and finally narrowed it down to about 6 ranches all over the US. Then I saw the name of the town of Elk Mountain Ranch and I knew that was the one. Its as if Mickey helped me find the right one!

Sounds amazing Teena - enjoy your day & make lots of memories!

Gotta start my "every 10 days" shout now... 70 days until BC CL! Also, while I'm taking up posting space... Just noticed a shout out to Teena on a "who's your favorite CM?" thread on the Theme Park Strategies board. Yay, Teena!

Nice to hear you are having a great day. Well deserved!

Love the fact that you and Jeanne will be heading out to a dude ranch. Sounds like fun!

Thank you natebenma and feckless!!! There are only 3 of us going to the waterpark (my dh, son and I). My parents are going to watch him one night so we needed to figure out how to get back and forth from new orleans and yc as well. Looks like I'll program the local cab number into our phone, and thanks again!

I have to vote with the cab as well. Our last stay at the beach club this past october it took us over an hour and a half to get to typhoon lagoon it was just ridiculous..from now on when it comes to water parks and downtown disney its cabs from now on..just take the cab number with you to typhoon lagoon we found that getting a cab back was a little challenging eventually one did come into the typhoon lagoon parking lot but it wasn't as convenient as getting one at downtown disney/and resort hotels

I didn't think we'd be back again until next year, but I got my first pin code and we are headed to the Beach Club from June 27-July 6. So, please add us to the list! This will technically be my mother's first visit, as she was there for only one day in the early 80's. It will also be my daughter's 12th birthday on the 29th, so lots of reasons to celebrate.

I am looking forward to seeing Teena again, though I'm sure she doesn't remember us! We'll be sure to properly introduce ourselves this time. We are at the 45 day mark today, so the countdown begins.

We got home on Weds from a "magical" vacation. Still going through Disney withdrawal. My DD called me today for mothers day and she said that she is going through withdrawal too and that she wants to go back.

Is it too early to start planning for next year?

Just got back from our first Beach Club stay and LOVED it. We'd wanted to book a short weekend getaway to reward ourselves after a stressful few months, and though the Epcot-area resorts had never really been on my wish list, I began seeing more and more pics of BC that swayed me. It was the perfect choice for a resort-only vacation! We walked into Epcot for an hour one night but that was all. I think we spent about ten hours across the two-night span at Stormalong Bay, and have the tanlines (burnlines, in my case ) to prove it. And now I know what posters mean about that amazing Beach Club smell! :lovestruc We like to joke how CR is our home and AKL is our exotic vacation home, but we're now calling BC our 'summer' home. :rotfl2: The CMs were excellent. We've done online check-in a dozen times but after we parked and approached the BC entrance, a CM met us there with our room keys! That was a first, we've always had to still go to the desk. VERY appreciated! Even the fellow visitors were friendlier than we've usually experienced.

The only room request I put in for was a "large balcony" and we certainly got it! We paid for a standard view so I wasn't expecting much, but with plenty of room to sit and relax (and dry our swimsuits!) and hear the excitement at the pool, I was more than happy with our 'semi-roof view'. Our room was #3701.

And not that you all haven't seen it a million times already, but one of my SAB pics:

You all have a new convert now. We can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2
