Well we are going to Disney in October. I am guessing since the promos and all are out for 2012 that the chances of them offering FREE DINING for like October 2011 is probably OUT huh ?

That is a bummer I was really hoping to get in on the free dining this year. We can't go until October due to this is my oldest son's eighth grade year and their baseball team is pretty good for the most part. They will probably go to state with it............and if we booked in September then he would miss that. If it were any other year besides his eighth grade year it would NOT bother me at all. My other two are in the sixth and fourth. . . my daughter is missing her fourth grade Halloween Carnival her last one at that school ............she is all right with it because we are going to do Mickey's Not So Scary this time around.

We have been in September and in February before I loved February the weather was great and the crowds were low. September was not bad but it was hot hot hot like 100 everyday.

Hoping October will be wonderful weather with low crowds ....should be if they don't offer free dining.

Keep on SMILING and remember IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL.....SMILE

Except for the military discount, there are still no 2012 promos out. Really, there have been no general public offers beyond September yet.
I'd expect something announced in the next 2-6 weeks.

Disney has not announced any promos past Oct 1 yet as far as I know so there is still hope for room discounts and FD from Oct-Dec of this year.

Thank you for all your replies. I guess I got a little confused about the 2012 promos and all just being something else. I am still holding out for free dining for October 21st when we go SMILE
I guess a woman can always dream huh ? ? LOL

Can I please just tell you that EVERY year for the past 3 years we have gone, there has been free dining offered. 1 year we used it, 2 years we didn't. Our costs were the same or LESS by just putting together a room discount, dining, and tix package with our reservation cast member. Now this may be different for families but for us (just DH and I!) it was just as good as or better without "free" dining so please....don't get discouraged!!!! :goodvibes

Right now we have a room discount...........which is great but free dining would help us save about $800 to $900 more then just the room rate. I know you can only have one or the other but in the long run the dining saves us a little more as I said about $800 more.
Either way we are going..............SMILE and we are going to do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween too

Just hoping for free dining

Would the FD save my wife and I any money. We love Table Service each night, guess Im confussed about the dinning plan. Does FD plan offer table service? Guess I should do more research , but I know my forum pals can answer. :thumbsup2 O we are going Oct. 18th -23rd Our first trip without the kids. Our kids have been 3 times, we just want a trip alone. little of topic.

It depends on where you're staying, if it's a deluxe resort you'd save more with a big, fat room discount than with FD. If it's a value resort, FD would be the better deal; moderate resort, you'd break about even depending on the % of room discount offered. FD for Oct. - Dec. hasn't been offered yet, but I'm hoping it will be sometime in July.

Yes, FD at mods and deluxe is 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack per person per night.

how does one go about getting a "big fat room discount"??! Someone please share, ol' DeepSouth is freaking out a little bit :(

call and see if you have a pin attach to your name or wait & see what Disney offers to everyone.

It's just DBF and I and we're going in Oct. I'm betting FD will come along, but am really not sure it'll be a better deal for us. We are staying at Pop and have a 30% off right now. We'd likely do 2-3 TS oop if we were offered FD with QSDP, so I'll really have to crunch the numbers. I'd love to hear how you figured out which was a better deal for you. The thing that makes FD sound appealing is the snack credits for F&W, but still, not sure it would be a way better deal :confused3

With the room discounts that were offered at the time (our last 3 trips were all fall!) it was cheaper to take the room discount, add the ticket options we wanted, and the dining plan. By doing it separately, you can sometimes find the room at the hotel you want that comes up as "sold out" under the free dining promos. Ask the castmember doing your ressie to price for you with the best room discount option available to you and see how it works out.

As far as snack credits for F&W, don't use them on the cheap items! Save them for the more expensive offerings. Get the ribs at France for example with a SC but pay OOP for your soda. :thumbsup2
