Will SAB appeal to guys this age?

Our DS is 18 (soon to be 19) and on our last couple of trips to the YC he really didn't go to SAB much during the day. He would (typically) take off to the parks on his own during the day, meet up with us for lunch and some park time, then come back to the hotel late afternoon. After dinner he usually headed to one of the parks again. He did enjoy floating around the lazy river after he came back in the evening. It was his way of cooling off from the day and relaxing before bed.

Sounds great! I appreciate the insight on what appeals to young men this age- my last trip was just myself and 11y/o daughter, so this will be quite different! I'm hoping that FP+ will actually be helpful this trip, as can go to WP at 10, take a break, then go to Parks in the evening with reserved rides, stay til close and hopefully be able to do second rides on their faves close to closing. Thinking will be prepared with gear in the rental car if they want to stop off at SAB after morning in parks or WPs.I'm wondering how long SAB is typically open during May?

I just have to say that I am cracking up and I'm talking to my DH about some of the things I have read or seen on here, and he says, "You are borderline obsessed. I may have to cut you off." He laughs and agrees, but points out this costs more.

enjoying the planning- to me that prolongs the fun of the trip!
I am leaning on switching to YC GV. Does anyone know about the likelihood of getting a room with daybed if I switch? Also, looking at a map and what I think is the parking lot, it looks like most YC rooms would be closer to parking than BC. Anyone know if this is correct?

I love the planning, too. I never realized how much I enjoyed it until we had a last minute trip to Disney and there wasn't any time to plan.

The parking lot is rather far back at the BC. I'm not sure about the YC.

ETA: Here is a satellite image map by Robo. It looks like the YC parking lot is even further away from the door than the BC's parking lot is.

I only ever visit the board from my iPhone, but this morning I find myself able to lounge in front of my iMac in peace. WOW do I miss a lot!!! Icons (some dance!), clear photos, Trip Ticks, OH MY! I need to get out more!

1) Will SAB appeal to guys this age?

(2) Location- I will be renting a car for the first time, as I've heard that is helpful when doing waterparks,

Quiet- don't mind some hustle and bustle.It seems like so many people stay at BC, (3) won't it be more crowded and noisy than YC?

1) I think the big slide will get them out to the pool. If there are some pretty girls around they might stay longer. Your guys sound like water park fans so I think they will definitely at least try the pool. The pool also has hot tubs so that might be appealing to them, especially at night. You might want to tell them that you heard that the girls really love to hang out in the hot tubs at night, only you need to leave out the part about how those "Girls" are MUCH OLDER and tend to be a bit 'floppy'

2) Renting the car if you plan on really hitting the water parks is definitely the way to go. That was a really smart move because NO MATTER which Hotel you stay at on Disney Property, it's ALWAYS a chore to get to the water parks. It's not a Beach Club/ Yacht Club transportation problem, it's a Disney resorts transportation problem.

3) The only part of the Beach Club that is busy/noisy is the lobby. Most people are only passing through so it's not really the major issue that people can imagine. Don't worry, you'll see when you get there. You are going to spend maybe 10 minutes in the lobby for your whole trip and even then it's not like it's being overrun by foreign and domestic tour groups or coffee zombies looking for a fix. (well, maybe that last one )

I know everyone says that requesting a specific room number is NOT recommended, but can I get an opinion on doing so with a Deluxe CL room at BC? Since there are only 6 of the rooms I figure it might be okay.

Actually I think I'd rather just request that I'm not put in two specific rooms. Would that be better? I've been researching those rooms like crazy and there are two I'd really like to avoid.

We are going April 27-May3 and can't wait- We have a BC garden view room- and I have a 6 year old and 2.5 year old, do you recommend an area to request? We usually do parks first thing and then go back for swimming, maybe a nap at about 2-5 and then head back for dinner- mostly local to the BC.

and lastly- what does WDW have against real coffee? Why is it so hard to get just a cup of coffee?

I think in your situation, I would note on my reservation... "Not rooms XXXX or YYYY, please"

I'm not exactly sure how the room request process works, especially for the Deluxe rooms- but I would make sure it is noted through the central reservation number AND IPO. I would email IPO to let them know the rooms you would prefer to avoid.

Thanks for the information ( and laughs)! Such a hard decision - they both sound so great . Guess I will stay with BC for now- don't want to call Disney reservations again until I'm positive I won't change again!

Yeah that's probably the best idea, and thanks for the tip about letting the IPO know as well.

I think a request of "Close to Lobby, please" indicates that you would like to be centrally located, near the pool, BC Marketplace and bus stops. That sounds like it would be a better request for you than "Close to EPCOT, please"- which would put you a bit further away from the nerve center of the resort.

Do you prefer an upper floor or something lower? Is a full balcony important to your family?


I am sure there are others who can come up with a much more interesting story about the lack of real coffee at the world, but my belief is that it is tied into Nestle's sponsorship of Disney- part of the contract must require a distribution system for the stuff that nobody would purchase when given a choice.

BTW, thanks for all the info on coffee- I NEED my coffee in the morning so I'm slightly concerned about these coffee pods..... But if there's "real" coffee somewhere on site, I'm going to be much happier! I'm one of those kind of crabby early morning coffee makers....

I feel the same way about my coffee. You can buy the pods at the regular grocery store, not as big a variety as K-cups though. That way you can have a brand you know you like. I did this for our trip last March and was glad I did.

I noticed that the kids meals at Hurricane Hanna's comes with carrots and watermelon. My weird son hates melon of any kind. Will the sub another kind of fruit instead?

Not sure about HH specifically, but at many locations, the kids meals come with carrots and grapes. You could switch one of those for fries, so maybe HH has a similar setup. Maybe someone who is going soon can check for you?

I'm so excited!! I scored a (very) last minute point rental for BCV for this week!! This is our first reservation since being extremely local I'm off Wednesday and Friday, so despite working Thursday morning--the deal on points was toooooooooooo good to pass up!!

Checking in Wednesday, 1/30 - Friday 2/1

Wednesday is looking like a great pool day, Thursday looks cold--but I have to work anyway, and I have dinner at Cape May Thursday night!!

Just a random, last minute, get-a-way. I've really had the resort itch lately--and I can't wait to be back at Storm-a-long Bay! This will be our first time on the BC side. We normally stay at YC, and I'm happy to try something new!!!

Just wondering if you got the super cheap point rental deal that was on here this a.m. $6!!!!

Hi all! Question about the location of the deluxe CL rooms. I know they are on a different floor than the lounge area, but just how far away are they? Should I be concerned with how far away we will be? I don't mind a little walking and hoping on an elevator (or taking the stairs) but I just want to prepare myself if it is going to be a hike!

If the two you don't want is because of the standing balconies, just put "full balcony requested" on your reservation.
