2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part II

I don't know if you should revise it yet.

When we were there last summer two of the washers were out of order.
I was there when a maintenance cm came to fix them and he told me that there were having trouble because people weren't using HE detergent.

Of course those machines that sell the detergent have been there forever - maybe someone just didn't realize that they should have signs about the HE detergent!

This is what I currently have in the laundry section:

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

Washers are front loaders. According to repairmen working on disabled washers, HE (High Efficiency) detergent should be used in the machines. Regular laundry detergent is available for purchase in the laundry room ($1) or at the Beach Club Marketplace ($2). Don't forget to pack a few dryer sheets.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

************************************************

There should be signs up instructing users to wash with HE detergent and it would be nice if that is what they sell in the machines!

What type of washers are in the villas? Regular or Front loaders?

Sounds good to me.

I don't know about the villas -maybe someone who stayed there recently can help you.

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.
We are going to take it day by day, hope for as much "good" time as possible and enjoy whatever time we have with my Mom.
She is an incredible woman whose children and grandchildren are her
whole world.

In 2006 and 2007 we stayed at the YC and loved it. In 2008 we gave our children and grandchildren a gift of a Grand Gathering - all expenses paid. We couldn't get a discounted room at YC only BC. I was a nervous wreck on how we would like BC after loving YC.

First we had pixiedust and were upgraded to BC CL.

We found out that we loved BC even more than YC!!!!
Of course we also got hooked on CL so now we always stay BC CL!

Don't worry - if you are like me even though you love YC you might find out that you like BC even more!

I am sure we will like, hopefully love, BC. I just really love the Epcot area so I am sure we will be fine. It's funny, I remember the first time we ventured away from Wilderness Lodge. I remember thinking there is no way anything can top WL. And then we fell in love with the YC.:)

I think when you stay CL, it limits the risk of being at a far flung end of the hallway room. The CL floor seems more compact. We had GV CL and what I can tell is that most of the 9 GV CL rooms are near to the elevator and the lounge per the CL CMs we asked. Everytime we went to EPCOT and walked through the hotel to the quiet pool to exit, I thought that I would hate to have the rooms way over there. You would be close to the quiet pool but a little walk to the SAB.

We had a view of an interior court yard straight ahead and could see SAB to the left. There were a couple other GV CL rooms next to ours that would have had the same view. We could see the high fireworks from EPCOT.

I have no other Disney resort to compare to but we really enjoyed the bright and light atmosphere in the BC. I was so sick of the long winter and rain that it was so nice to be in a setting that seemed like you were at the ocean but weren't. We really, really like CL and the staff there. They were such a big help and really made you feel welcome.

Unfortunately, I feel that once you stay somewhere for the first time and have a great time, it is hard to replicate it somewhere else. I think now none of my future trips will measure up to staying at the BC. I am almost afraid to try somewhere else.

Have fun and enjoy!

Thanks for the input. I am looking forward to the bright and light atmosphere. Glad to hear the staff was nice and welcoming.:)

I've been putting off posting about my Mom because it isn't good news.

Friday she had a cardiac cath and then found that her major artery in her heart has a clot - virtually closing off 70% of the artery. The two normal options are open heart surgery and blood thinners. Unfortunately she is not a candidate for either procedure.

They basically have told us that it could be days, weeks or a few months but that she will have a massive heart attack and that is it. She is going to rehab tomorrow just so she can functionally get around with the new knee.

She just wants to come home.
She is amazing - she is not scared at all, and is actually comforting the rest of us. I think it makes things a little bit easier for that she feels my brother (who died of cancer in l989) and my father (who died of cancer in l992) will be waiting for her.

It has been a really rough weekend for us though.

I am so glad that she came with us on our Grand Gathering in 2008.
She LOVED BC and it will always be a great memory for our family.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Robyn:

I am sorry to hear about your mom. Please know even though I don't know you personally you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I always look forward to reading your posts and the insightfulness you bestow upon us about the YC/BC.

I lost my father last November after a very lenghty illness. He was my best friend. The last months of his life, when I knew deep down inside that the end was nearing, are moments that I will cherish forever and never forget. Cherish this time with your mom and make the most out of every moment. Your mother sounds like an amazing woman. I wish her peace.

Marlton Mom has been very busy lately trying to beat the system. She has designed a lime green mickey head logo with my Dis Boards name on it to wear around the resort so that you can see her coming from miles away and run for your proverbial lives.

The problem that I'm running into is that the site that I am using to make this t-shirt....shall we call it "Zizzle", keeps busting my design for copy right infringement.

Since I was the one who designed 3 touching circles and colored them lime green in Microsoft publisher I fail to see how Disney has copyrighted 3 lime green touching circles! So the bottom line is that Marlton Mom fought the law and the law won!

Do any of you crafty types have knowledge of any other online T-Shirt places that will not have a hissy fit over 3 circles?

This is really cutting into my "loitering on the front porch of Cracker Barrel restaurant and pretending I am on the Disney rides" so I'd appreciate all the help you guys can muster!

Smoochies,
Marlton Mom

Sounds like you have small kids like I do and doesn't seem like you have any complaints about getting to Magic Kingdom. Is that where you would choose to stay in the future? Any complaints?

Kids aren't that small any more (28, 26, 24) but when they were we stayed at FW (trailer) or at CR. Didn't find the YC until 2008 and now wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Truth be told, if I were planning a trip again with the kids at the age yours are, I'd probably find something closer to MK like CR (garden wing) or Poly. Loved the GF but can't justify the price.

Zizzle is really bad for that I find :I The easiest solution I can give you is what we did for our Frying Pan shirts (which Rapunzel and Flynn absolutely adored!). Any shirt cotton or polyester will do. Michaels or I believe JoAnn's will sell it, is Iron On transfer paper. You simply print your own design onto it with your home printer, cut out the design, and iron it on. All the shirts stood up to the Florida heat well enough. Also easy enough that the boy in our group actually did it all.

If possible we'd like to do a one-stop shop, so a store that also sells stuff like pool noodles, lanyards, ginger pills, and waterproof ID card holders would be a plus.

We like to stop at the Super Target on Irlo Bronson Hwy. They have everything. There is also a new Super Target just past Disney off 192. Just google Super Target Kissimmee and check out the maps.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

We have been Robyn. Your love of family just oozes through your post. Take care.....

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions the past couple of months! This place is just amazing and we will be back!!

Thanks for your report Princess. Sounds like a wonderful time.

Ok, then that's that eh? If they don't want to do the A/C right on those boats Marlton Mom is considering riding them a la Lady Godiva! .....And at 47 years old and kinda saggy and baggy there is no more lady left in my Godiva!

Thanks for the replies btw :grouphug:

Now for you MM.......I just had a picture in my head of people diving overboard in the middle of Crescent lake. pirate: Please consider the children and those that can't swim.

Robyn-
So sorry to hear this. You and your family are in my prayers...:grouphug::grouphug::hug: She sounds like a very wise and amazing woman...You are right it is comforting to know who is waiting on the other side. My grandfather was like that a few years ago(cancer) but he had my grandmother waiting for him almost 20 years(cancer also) He was at peace and I think it helped us deal a little better with the loss of him...Please think of us as your family and I know it may be difficult but please post and let us know how you & your family are doing...we are all thinking/praying for you guys...

MM and everyone else(Sorry can't write all your names)-
you always know when I need a laugh:rotfl::surfweb::rotfl::rotfl: It seems when I am on the verge of crying you come in with Comic relief...I always know I can find it here. All of you lift my spirit up when I'm feeling down and make my day a lot brighter...Thanks :grouphug:

Katesdad- I agree, we would love to stay closer to MK but we would like in room laundry and kitchen... will do dining plan, but just want to have breakfast and snack foods in room. Plus, BC one bedroom villa is cheaper than adjoining resort rooms at the places in MK. I know Wilderness has villas, but pool area doesn't look as nice as BC.

Marlton Mom last year I went on an Eastern Caribbean cruise which we dubbed our group as the Pirates of the Eastern Caribbean and the same site you mentioned above would not allow us to print.

I ended up going with vistaprint.com they were great and shirts were better than expected and arrived faster than expected.

Just make sure it is a high res graphic and you will be great.

Robyn, your family is in my prayers. Your mother has been so strong through this. May her faith help all of you. :grouphug:

I'm so far behind. doccoc, prayers to you, too, and congratulations to your daughter. :littleangel:

Teena, hope all is going well, sister!

The w/d in the villas were still top loaders as of Feb/March.

Does anyone have a few photos of the Beach Club and Yacht Club in their holiday finery?

We had the most wonderful stay at the Beach Club last week. It was our first stay there and it didn't disappoint! Here are some things that we loved:

- Wonderful pool and not too crowded. In the evening, we practically had it to ourselves.
- Great lifeguards who take their jobs seriously. We saw one jump in and pluck a little boy out who couldn't swim after coming down the slide.
- Decor is just beautiful. Everything is very crisp and clean.
- The food at the Market Place isn't bad! I wasn't expecting much, but it was better than expected. A great place to stop in for something quick.
- All of the castmembers were super friendly! We saw Teena and she gave us a nice hello and smile, but I was too bashful to tell her I "know" her on the boards.
- We had a garden room and it was HUGE!!! It was a corner room - 4606 and had the extra long balcony. We felt like we were staying in a suite. We had room to just roll in the stroller and park it in the long hallway before the bathroom. The kids loved running all around the room.
- The room was so clean. Great housekeeping. No towel animals, but I can't complain. :)
- Loved Cape May. We did a walk up one evening and it was very good, much better than I expected. I don't eat seafood, but their were plenty of yummy options. I did think it was expensive though.
- We found the transportation to Magic Kingdom to be just fine. No excessive waits.
- Beaches and Cream was delicious. The best hamburger I had all week. We were lucky to walk right in on our last evening.

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions the past couple of months! This place is just amazing and we will be back!!

Ooh, I hope I get THAT room, sounds wonderful!!! Glad to hear you had a great trip. :thumbsup2

What type of washers are in the villas? Regular or Front loaders?

The BCV have front loaders. I have a photo -- not sure if it is washers or dryers -- I can email you if you want to send me a PM with your email address. I don't have photos online anywhere so I can't insert here.
