Day 20 Epcot & Teppan Edo
Todays Video TEPPAN EDO
For breakfast today we decided to visit the food court at POFQ, since we had never visited the resort before. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the Mardi Gras theming had been done.
Nigel Build your own Omelette with ham, swiss, pepper, onion and mushroom
Sue Pancakes with Scrambled Eggs
Emma Bounty Platter
The theming inside the food court contains some very large masks suspended from the ceiling.
Our theme park for today was Epcot. Once inside, we called in to the IBM area of Innoventions and made use of the free wifi to check emails. Carrying on, we then went to Ellens Energy Adventure. We managed to get a front row seat and so had a great view for the whole journey. Next port of call was to Fountains View for chocolate and vanilla ice creams, and then onto the Cooling Station to wash it all down. We decided to do a clockwise loop around World Showcase, meeting Donald along the way in Mexico.
We spent quite a while in China (my favourite themed country) taking photos along the way.
Arriving in Japan, Emma decided to do the Kim Possible Adventure. This occupied the next 30 minutes so.
The mime artist was at work in Italy, which always makes me smile!
Passing through France, Sue decided to have a crème brulee, which she described as one of the best in Disney, whilst Emma did a quick painting.
We returned back to OKW, where Sue and Emma went to the pool whilst I had a nap. Tonight we had an ADR at Teppan Edo, sharing a table with Martin, Wendy and their family. We returned back to Epcot at around 7:00 to be greeted by the worst rainstorm of the whole holiday. At the entrance of World Showcase, we bumped into Martins family, who were attempting to shelter under a parasol. It was obvious that the rain was not going to ease off, so Martin went to purchase ponchos for all of the family. We squelched our way through the various countries, arriving at Japan around 15 minutes late. We were seated more or less straight away and this is when the fun began. I had read a lot about this experience on the Dis but nothing beats seeing it first hand. Our chef tonight was Kenta from Tokyo. His skills were amazing! The speed at which he chopped and tossed the food needed to be seen. At one point, whilst tailing the shrimp, he flicked the tails into the air and caught them in the top of his hat.
Nigel Steak & Shrimp Ice Cream Swirl Diet Coke
Sue Chicken & Shrimp Chocolate Ginger Cake Diet Coke
Emma Chicken Ice Cream Swirl Diet Coke
All of the above meals came with a good mixture of vegetable and noodles, although we were surprised that we got charged extra when asking for more noodles. Martin had ordered a spare Green Tea Pudding which we all tried. Sue thought it was better than the Chocolate Ginger Cake. The whole evening was set at a leisurely pace and as we came to leave, the rain was still falling but not so severe.
It was now 9:40 and we thought that the illuminations had been cancelled due to the poor weather. At that point the lights dimmed and the music started. We had a great view from the balcony of the restaurant and what seemed like a private viewing in an almost empty park. The show was amazing, being further enhanced by the reflections in the rain soaked floor. The Earth globe refused to open for quite a while but eventually it came to life.
After the fireworks had ended, we made our way slowly out of the park in an anti clockwise loop, stopping at various places to take photographs of the amazing reflections.
We arrived back at OKW at around 11:00 and once again it was time for bed.
