2011 Weddings

A slight off topic question but how would you all feel if you found out that another disbride has selected your date?

Would you be concerned?

I wouldn't be too concerned personally, BUT, we're very flexible on our date. Our date doesn't have too much meaning for us other than it being a date that we liked (and now kind of think of as ours I guess!). I actually originally wanted the 16th until DF hesitantly brought up that it was his ex-gf's birthday...ooops! Guess not!

If I had picked a date for meaning and not "because it fits into our vacation", then, yes, I'd be crazy upset I think. Even though I know no date belongs to us, it'd still upset me quite a bit.

would you be a little cautious as to what you posted in your planning journal just in case they picked the same stuff?

Too be honest I'd never thought about it. I don't think anyone on the Dis would intentionally copy all of your ideas, down to time, date and location. :confused3

If I was worried that that was happening then no, I wouldn't post any information,

I would not be to concerned. It actually might be fun to have someone at the same planning stages as me, both getting excited for that date. Plus there are so many different venues at Disney to Choose from. However if they choose the exact date, time and location I would be a bit disappointed but I have so many places I would like to use, there would be a backup plan.

Now if they also wore the same dress, had the same colors, same invitations I would be a bit freaked out ;)

If that were the case I think I'd be getting in touch with them to ask if I could reuse their floral/decor/anything else that could be shared and split the costs! :rotfl2: Maybe I'm just a cheapskate :rolleyes1

Oooh!! Good idea! Anyone want to share my date, and decor?? :rotfl:

Sorry, you have no say in any of it, but you can share the cost :lmao:

I am very excited to say that I am sailing on October 30, 2011 and will be getting married on Castaway Cay...we are all booked and now getting our guests all set up! We will be on the Disney Dream!

Just got 5 e-mails overnight from my co-ordinator.

She got permission to do our LoA early! Eeeeee.

I'm so excited we don't have another 2 1/2 months of keeping our fingers crossed that noone wants the Whitehall!

I'm not sure why we can sign early (maybe she's eager to pass me over to my planner so I stop asking planning questions way too early!:rotfl:) but I'm sure glad we can.

How scary if filling out the room block though?! I think we'll only do 5 nights on it. :(

How are you all getting pencil in so early? I have been calling trying to just see if things are available and no one will even call me back. I thought about sending a fax to see if I would get a response that way. I will try to call again when they open to see if someone will at least help me get the ball rolling. I need to schedule a planning session for when I go on vacation because I will not be able to go back to Disney until the wedding.

Do you guys know of any special things I can do to at least get penciled in? Is there a particular person I can talked to? Thanks for all of your help.

Hi Dawn, in my experience it's unlikely they will speak to you about availability just yet. Looking back at some of your previous posts I see you're looking at booking for September 2011 and I'm guessing because you are hoping to organise a planning session that you're wanting a wishes package. If that's the case then they should be able to pencil you in at this stage but as I said my co-ordinator wouldn't tell me if anyone else had been pencilled in on the same date.

I just called up and told the salesperson who answered the call that I was interested in a DFTW in May 2011 and would like to know how to get the ball rolling. He took a few details (contact info, package preference, location preference) and told me he would get a co-ordinator to call me back in the next couple of days. When the co-ordinator called back she took some more details and pencilled me in on the calendar but because I'm booking an escape I have to wait until exactly 8 months out to find out if I get that date.

Someone may swing by and correct me on this, but I don't think you will be able to arrange a planning session until after the 12 month mark has passed and you've signed your letter of agreement as you're not assigned a planner before then.

Lucky! I was at least thankful that my cooridinator told me the Whitehall Room was booked by a convention...I would have been waiting until September to find out if I got it. I'm bummed because I loved the Whitehall Room but I'm glad I at least knew about the convention ahead of time so I could make other plans. Now I can book Ariel's right at 12 months...if I had to wait until September to find out about the convention, I bet Ariel's would have already been booked! It's so frustrating with the convention centers...I'm really glad they let you sign your LOA early! :cutie:

Thanks Emilie :goodvibes

Our theory is perhaps that there is a convention or something booked for later in the week, (our wedding is a Tuesday) so they wouldn't be able to let a convention have the room anyway.

It was a lovely surprise and we are just counting it as a little bit of pixie dust.

It's very good they told you in advance about the WH for your date. What a shame though.

Dawn

We called a few days ago to get penciled in as well as arrange a site visit in August since we are going down for the open house at that time. We haven't received a call back yet. Hope they call soon so I can book my flights and hotel.

I'm on pins and needles waiting to schedule my planning session, but it's after they receive your LOA and your deposit. Then when you get assigned a planner they let you schedule a planning session. I haven't been assigned a planner yet so I'm so anxious to schedule my planning session! LOL You can go down for a site visit before you're contracted though :)

I got the same email!! I was specifically coming to check if anyone else was in the same boat. How exciting!!

I got the email through on my phone and I pulled DF aside and showed him, he didn't think much of it until I hammered it into his head how exciting this was. I still don't think he gets it...

Thanks Emilie :goodvibes

You know, you could be right about the convention thing. I know for a fact that WHR is booked from like the 2nd of March until the 6th, so that could be why they've allowed us to sign now. :confused3 Who cares though!!

Sadly I will no longer be getting my 2011 Disney wedding:sad1: but I can't wait to see what you all plan for yourselves :)
