2011 Points?

So 2010 points are out.
But are they for 2011 also?
If not, when would you think they would announce the points system for 2011?

We're still new to DVC so is it common for points per night to go up yearly?
Or since they made some increases in 2010, 2011 will probably stay the same?
I ask because the type of room we're looking at for 2011 the points actually went down from 2009 to 2010. If in 2011 it stays the same as the points level in 2010 we would be able to stay 1 more night than we orginally thought.

2010 came out in January of this year. 2010 was the first there was a change in a long time. Who knows for 2011.

What hapenned for 2010 was a point shift, not an increase. Most of the change consisted of lowering weekend points while raising weekday, and while keeping total points applicable to the resort the same. That was the first change made since the early 1990s. Thus, historically it has not been something that happens annually.

From 1991 thru 2007, the point charts for the DVC resorts always were published in the fall. In 1991 the charts for 1993 were available in September. In September, 1994, the charts for 1996 were released (and there was a point shift in 1996 for OKW). After 1996, there were no changes to the DVC resort point charts until the 2010 charts were released in January, 2009. Until 2009, the charts were released in September or October.

Due to the late release for 2010, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2011 charts are not available until late this year, but if there are no changes they hopefully would return to the fall release.

Thanks that's good news for us..at least optomistic news.
If points don't change then we can stay 9 night in 2011
instead of 8 like we were thinking.

Keep in mind that the seasons will change every year due to holidays. For exampl this year Easter was the second week of April and the timeframe that became Premier was April 5-18. For 2010, Easter falls the first week of April and thus, Premier is April 1-10.

President's week will shift the seasons by a couple of days or so between Dream and Magic seasons and Thanksgiving timeframe will swing between Magic and Choice seasons depending on the dates....

So---to make a long story longer---if you are traveling during a holiday month, look to see when the holiday falls and plan your points accordingly.
