We are looking to go next year (June 2011) and are planning on doing a combined Disney/Universal trip with the whole family (6 of us). We would like to stay on site at Universal for the FOTL benefits.

I tried pricing rooms on the Universal and Loews Web sites but apparently you can't yet book for 2011 online. Does any one know when the prices will be out for 2011 and when online booking will be available?

Also I am considering purchasing an annual pass for at least one of us as the room discounts may save more money than the cost of the annual pass. Does anyone know when annual pass room discounts are released for Universal Studios?

Sorry for the questions -- while I know most things about booking a Disney vacation I don't know much about booking a Universal vacation. I haven't been to Universal in about 8 years and when I did go I traveled there for work and always stayed complimentary as a guest of Universal's (I worked in media) so I have never had to book on my own.

I'm waiting for the 2011 online booking to open up, too. I tried to call but I was on hold for 20 minutes and finally hung up . . .

If you call, you can book June. They have not released the July rates yet.

Do they have you pay for that first night if you book now for next spring? No way am I putting down over $400 for one night in April...and it's going to be high since I want to stay one night (April 14th). If I can call and reserve now, and then pay when the discounted rates come out, fine. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the AP rates to come out.

You will want to wait then since you have to pay the one night deposit the day you make your reservation and then can apply that to the total stay when the rate goes down.
