2011 DISers Halloween Party Dates & Costumes List

ok, so i noticed there are two threads for the Halloween party...

which should i be posting on??

Hi, candygirlIRE - There is only one thread specifically about the party - and that is this one. It's confusing - I know.:rotfl2: In fact, I had mentioned this to Liza/funatdisney a while back - that when multiple threads pop up that even remotely tie into the same topic (this time, the topic being Halloween), it will be confusing and people won't know where to post and they will just end up starting new threads or posting whichever questions they have wherever they are. We were actually going to let this Party thread die down until the party dates came out so that people didn't get confused and think the dates had already come out, but once someone posted in it again I think it caught some attention.

This kind of thread confusion is exactly what happened last year with World of Color - there were way too many threads on WoC and, thus, no one knew exactly where to post so they kept creating new threads. Soon, it was like we had a whole page (and more) of this forum devoted to World of Color and no other threads were being seen!

So to sort of minimize (albeit not eliminate them completely but just cut down) the number of threads that pop up about Halloween and Christmas and make it easy to figure out where to go to get information I created two Superthreads - one for Halloween and one for Christmas. Those Superthreads are the threads that are located in the main Info sticky at the top of the forum's first page, year-round, for anyone planning Halloween or Christmas trips. That way, those threads are always easy to find because they don't move, and they have lots of information in them on the first page about the seasons, along with Tables of Contents for photos, links to holiday-specific blogs and Trip Reports, press releases, seasonal food information, etc. There is some info in them that is date-specific, which I will swap out when we get new information for the new season.

In the Halloween at DLR Superthread, we discuss anything and everything pertaining to the Halloween season at DLR - we cover "breaking news" about the season, which could include news about the party too but it is not a party-specific thread. It's about the whole Halloween Time season at DLR in general, from decorations to ride overlays to merchandise to the Happiest Haunts tour to seasonal treats, etc. Lots of great DIS'ers have posted questions, answers and pictures in that thread.

As Sherri (TheColtonsMom) said earlier, this Party thread (managed by Liza/funatdisney) is technically a check-in thread for the party only. When the dates come out for the party, people will post them here and say which costume they are wearing in case any other party goers want to meet up.

The "October" thread is a Check-In thread like all the Check-In threads for other months (even though it does not say Check-In in the title) and that's for people to give their trip dates and where they are staying to Liza/funatdisney in case anyone wants to have a meet-up.

Both this Party Check-In thread and the October Check-In thread are located in the Meet sticky at the top of the page and will be removed when 2011 is over. The Halloween at DLR Superthread will remain in the Info/Planning Sticky year-round and will be updated/revised when the info for each Halloween season comes out.

Thanks Sherry for the clarification on this thread ans the October Check in thread. I have been meaning to do that myself. I have been MIA, because of my kid's school and other things.

Okay, Liza - your party dates are in (courtesy of the AP Holders website - nothing on the Disney Parks Blog so far, as of tonight).

We'll attend twice during our visit: Monday Oct 3 & Friday Oct 7th.....can't wait!!!!

Can anyone answer if all the restaurants in DL stay open during the party?? We only do 2 meals on our trips & I know we'll need to stop for a dinner. We're most interested in Cafe Orleans & Hungry Bear Restaurant. Thanx!!

Thanks Sherry. Darn I had a PTA meeting tonight and just got home. They kept the Tuesday- Friday and added two Mondays. The price went up, too. I wonder what they will have cooking to justify the increase. I will update the first post tomorrow.

Looks like I'm going on the 25th.

I wonder if that first Monday is something strange. Maybe a mistake or something is happening on the Tuesday. The last one is of course Halloween day.

In the list of events it doesn't seem to show anything different than last year.

Spine-Tingling Attractions and Entertainment

Take part in all kinds of frightful family fun:

■Viewing of the boo-tiful Halloween Screams fireworks spectacular — exclusively for Mickey's Halloween Party Guests
■Admission to the Disneyland Park up to 3 hours prior to the event's start time
■Disney Villains prowl the grounds
■Special treat stations offering both yummy candy and healthy goodies
■Dress up and join the ghoulish goings-on at Mickey's Costume Party Cavalcade
■Access to nearly all Disneyland Park attractions, including all the Halloween-themed attractions such as Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday
■Access to the Park before it closes to the general public beginning at 3:00 p.m. for Tuesday 6:00 p.m. events and 4:00 p.m. for Friday and Halloween 7:00 p.m. events

■Creepy crafts and activities for the whole family
■Plus lots more entertainment for little boys and ghouls
You'll also enjoy complimentary parking for one vehicle. Larger vehicles may require an additional fee.

I did look at WDW's version, regular guest prices reaching over $70.

I am hoping to go on September 30th and October 11th. I am also hoping that I will be able to talk my DH to come with me on the second date. Now I have to think about the costumes. I am kind of thinking in terms of Pirate for the 1st one as I will need a Pirate costume for Pirate night on our Mexican Riviera Cruise anyway and either Princess or Ghost Bride for the second (we are renewing our wedding vows on October 9th so that would be quite fitting).

..did the site mention when the tickets go on sale? Sometimes, for some reason, I have trouble getting on the AP page...Does DVC traditionally have any sort of discount?
OK, got on the AP page...kid's tickets aren't cheaper then? Better get that $413 in the budget....

Here is the killer question - do DL tickets sell out before the general public can buy them? The only date that works for us is the 7th so I hope not.

Upon second look, it's actually the same number of party nights that it was last year and in 2009 - 10 party nights - but it's just that they removed what would have been an expected Tuesday night party date (as skiingfast said, maybe something is happening on October 4th or it's a typo/misprint of some kind?) and replaced it with a Monday (October 3). So it seems like they added in a night because the two Mondays throw us off but they actually didn't. Halloween night always would have been in the mix, as you know, but it just happens to be a Monday this year.

The ticket price going up does not shock me at all! I expected that. I think it's past the point of Disney justifying anything anymore - they will just claim "operating costs" necessitate the increase. In my opinion, I don't think they should keep increasing the price of the party, specifically, unless they add new things to it - more treat stations, more spooky projections around the park, more unique characters, more character photo spots, more party-exclusive merchandise and food, just more stuff in general. I can understand the increase in price for the 2 parks overall, and for the hotels to a degree (especially the DLH, which is being refurbished)....but for something that occurs on only 10 nights a year like the Halloween party, I don't see where they need to raise the price every year unless they add in new stuff or more stuff.

Anyway, you have lots of people joining in here, asking questions about the party. Make sure to take the "Still waiting" out of the title!

Well we will be there for sure on Friday October 14th and since there is a party Tuesday October 11 which is our arrival date and Tuesday October 18th which is our last night we will be at one of those 2 not sure which...may just wait to see who from the DIS might be there on which dates and decide then. Oh and of course in case anyone doesn't already know we will be dressed as pirates.

I totally posted in the wrong spot..... I apologize!

Can anyone delete this?

Well now I'm really wondering about that Mon. Oct. 3rd date. That date would actually work well for us, but I'm not going to plan anything until I know for sure that wasn't a typo.

Does anyone know if it was the same last year, where AP holders only got a discount on Tuesdays? I wish they offered the AP discount for the Friday dates as well.

Last year, AP discounts were only offered on Tuesdays and one Friday, October 1.

It seems the same for this year. The first Friday Party on 9/30 is a discounted price of $44. All Tuesdays and the one Monday, October 3 have an advance purchase discount of $44 as well.

Yay!! We will be going 10/25!! DS3 (Jack) will be dressed as a pirate! I have never been to this party, I am anxious to compare it to MNSSHP!

We'll be there Friday the 21st :)

We will be at the mouse from Sept 29th to Oct 2nd, on an unexpected surprise 2nd trip to the mouse and staying at the Hilton Anaheim. Costumes will probably be Canucks fans with matching hats and t shirts. We are going to the MHP on Sept 30th. And am still trying to mentally prepare for the trip, as another one wasn't planned till 2014. We are going to try to squeeze the most out of my AP since we are going just before it expires.

We will be going to MHP 9/30, 10/3 or 10/7 two of the three as our dates are up in the air we have two different ressies 9/27 - 10/5 or our original dates of 9/30 to 10/9. Either way we plan to do two parties and all but my 14 year old has 2 costumes. I had bought costumes that they don't know about (They picked them out and I ordered them without their knowledge) and then we went to the renaissance festival and found beautiful dresses for them to use for Halloween and that is how we ended up with 2 different costumes.
We have 4 girls and they will be dressing up as:
6- Snow White 2 different costumes (she's obsessed)
10 - Aurora/Belle
14 - Jedi Knight/?Stitch or Jar Jar Binks?
16 - Cinderella/fairy

It is a lot of fun planning for a trip for 2012 with the kids, knowing we are going this year. Not sure when or how we will tell them but it will be closer to when we leave and after we figure out which week we are going. My last final and paper are due on Monday for this term, so my planning will go full force after that.

My boyfriend and I both LOVE going to Disneyland, but this year will be the first time we are going in October. It sounds like its going to be tons of fun from reading the posts on here! I was just wondering which week would be the best for us since we have never been during halloween time? I really want to do as much as the stuff there as I can!
