I thought I'd get us started for the New Year. After spending way too much time on Christmas day in the garage searching for DH's allen wrenches to lower DS's new bike seat it is definitely high up on the destashing list.

I got started on that by getting a baby crib out of there, cleaning it up and putting it on craigslist last night. No emails yet, I might have to lower the price.

Before Christmas all of the kids and I went through their rooms and gave away 3 boxes of toys they had outgrown. I have a couple things from there listed on craigslist, but if they don't sell this week I'm going to donate them. We also went through all of the Wii games and sold the ones on ebay that they all agreed they didn't want, $75 and all of our wii games now fit in the drawer meant for them, even with the new ones Santa brought.

Next on my list is clothes, I need to see what they've outgrown.

And I'm going to work on destashing some more weight this year. I was doing well on my weight loss, then my sister needed to move in with me for awhile and that just knocked me off my program completely and I never got back into it and all the weight came back. I'm disappointed with myself, but I have to get past that and move on.

Thanks for starting the thread, mrsbornkuntry. I would get about a 2 out of 10 this year, so I'm hoping for a better one, next. I, too, would like to get rid of the weight that reappeared after the half marathon of 2005. Here's hoping that I can move that along better, too.

My goal for early 2011 is to get rid of the 3 old PCs and their related equipment. I'm hoping to free cycle the monitors and recycle the rest.

I'm in. Having a garage sale in mid-January which I hope will help the destashing.

I'm in again. I was on a roll at the beginning of 2010, then I slowed down. I have started de-cluttering again and starting to try and follow FlyLady a little more this year. I want to get a ton of toys out of the house this year and have a place for everything and everything in its place by the end of 2011!

I'm in! My plans are twofold - to destash, and to use destashing as a reminder not to buy more stuff, which will then give me more money to save up for Disney 2012! ;)

Count me in. I have gotten rid of alot of stuff already. I like clean lines. But we live in a two bedroom apt and the things we have like christmas stuff and shop vac I need a storage shed outside. Will find one this next year. I have a huge table and chairs and the hutch that has to go. UGH!

I have been an anvious lurker to this thread in the past. With the excuse that I just dont have the time to attack! Now I am not working and have no excuse. And we could use the money from selling some extra things around the house. I would love to have a garage sale now but we have about 5 inches of snow. So now to craigslist. I do not have an ebay acct set up. Is it worth setting up? I need some inspiration - lets do this...:woohoo::woohoo:

I'm in!!

I am off all this week, and am using the opportunity to jumpstart my efforts. I am working on each area as a separate task, so I can feel like I'm accomplishing things.

So, for example, instead of decluttering the kitchen, I have worked on the cabinet over the pantry, and the cabinet over the fridge, and the junk drawer, and so on.

I have about 40 such places-varied cabinets, drawers, closets and so on, and have done 4. My goal is to complete an average of one a day, so I can be finished by winter break (the third week in February). I'm trying to get ahead now, so I can do 2-3 a week through February.

I'm in again. I still need to get to the basement and this is the year I am going to do it thoroughly. I'm gonna start in one corner and just work my way around until I get it all out. The goal is two big trash cans full, two big boxes to be donated and one tote to keep, but full organized and labelled per week until finished.

Once the basement is done it is back to listing the clothes I have that are all too big on ebay. I have to separate the 20's and 18's and the coldwater creek from the cj banks etc. That will take a while, but DD helps and then adds the money to her Russia trip fund.

Finally, my parents are moving and I have to be strong enough not to allow myself to be a dumping ground for what they no longer want when they downsize!:lmao:

I would love to join this year. We are planning on moving sometime in 2011 and the less we need to move the better. Over the years I have done ebay, craigslist and yardsales. Nothing produced much of anything except the headache of having to store all this stuff. I think I will donate and toss most of the items I would like to destash. My local music/video store takes in trades for credit and there are a few stores in town that will trade video games. Except for that I am not selling anything. We have a lot of clutter and I want to get rid of about 50% of it.

We're cleaning out a hall closet tomorrow and organizing a pantry in the laundry room and the kitchen pantry as well.

There will be garbage bags going out tomorrow-no matter what!

I will be cleaning out my scrapbooking stuff and boxing up my unwanted for a garage sale my local scrapping store has in the spring. Definitely more cash for supplies.

My organizing goals are to reduce the sheer amount of stuff since I am a book hoarder...getting myself a Nook in March so that will help with the book clutter as well as listing books on book mooch.

I have started also. I started with toys before Christmas and we have moved to cleaning out clothes. Getting ready to leave for DW in 3 weeks and then going to start pricing everything for gargage sale. I have 2 other moms I call to buy my sons clothes he outgrows. Tomorrow I am going to call 2 consignment stores to make my appointments to drop off clothes in March - one is kids the other is ladies. Paid for my DS new DSI XL and accessories from the sale of fall clothes and my mom and I scored enough to pay 2 of our nights in a 2 bed at OKW (we have a 40% discount) from our fall yard sale. I am making a list for what I want to accomplish each day. If I put it down on paper I feel I have to do it.

I'm in. I really need to destash our house. I am lucky and do not go back to classes until January 31, so I will be taking advantage of that time to get things cleaned up around here. I have already cleaned out under my bed and have done all the movie cabinets in the living room.

Count me in as well! Hoping this thread provides the motivation to continue what I started today! Cleaned out my office and organized the closet! Onto to the playroom tomorrow!

I am in on this. I started yesterday. Now have 2 bags of garbage and a box of recyling from my sewing room. I need to be able to find stuff. I now have a table in the basement to work on so that is my first step.

Ohh so this is the thread where I can brag about how much I got rid of...get cheers and encouragement and then want more of that so would motivate me to continue??? LOL. I've been in a destashing mode for the past year but it's very hard! I have 5 boys and I have let go of the mentality that the younger ones may want it. I let things go through 2 kids then GONE! Maybe I could do a room a month and actually do it well?

I like to join too. Last year I did ok because we were thinking of moving to a differentl house, so I was able to get rid of a bunch of stuff. We've since decided to stay put, so I'm not as motivated to purge. I need to get back to it!

Started the 2011 Destash a few days early :thumbsup2

I got rid of all my old, nasty cookie sheets - they have seen better days.

Also got rid of two bags of Tupperware/Rubbermaid type containers that didn't have lids or were too badly stained.
