Haven't seen anything on this lately...

Has anyone been able to book a DCL cruise in 2011 with DVC points SINCE the big moratorium was announced in late August?

Thanks

We tried to add our parents using our points for March 5 2011 sailing and was told there isn't any availability. But we could book for Oct, Nov or Dec. So we may move our cash DCL ressie to Oct so that we can use points to add our parents.

We tried to convert an existing MR cruise to points. No luck.

I booked a November 2011 cruise with no problems at all about a month ago on the Magic. Used up all of my points though!

Anyone yet booked the Fantasy with DVC points? I am assuming there is availability, but haven't heard a peep about this yet. Perhaps this will make it possible to use points for some of the other 2011 cruises on other ships since many may switch their ressies to the Fantasy.

What moratorium are you referring to? I missed it. We're in the "thinking about it" stage right now for a cruise in 2012 or 2013. Thanks!

I tried to book a dream cruise in Sept for Sept. 2011 but was told there was nothing avail. until Oct. I just assumed they limit how many DVC bookings there are - or limit within some time frame seeing it is a new ship. I just booked b2b for Oct.

I booked the Fantasy for June 2012 on 10/19 with points. No problem there. The point charts were up on the 19th.

We booked two cabins on the 6/21 alaskan cruise on points in late September. He was a little surprised I could get two, but he said availability does pop up. Keep trying.

There was an assumption by many that if there was a room available for cash you could always get it by using points. From what I heard, even some Disney cast members told people this was true.

Apparently with the large number of people wanting reservations on the Dream, they hit the limit for almost all Dream cruises. People suddenly found themselves with cash reservations they could not convert to points like they did in the past.

A big stir happened on the boards and Disney relented and let people do one last conversion.

There was no moratorium, if you wanted a cruise with point availability you still got it. It was just that the Dream and Alaska cruises had no more point availability, so it appeared to be a moratorium. If you wanted a Med, Mexico or repositioning cruise you were mostly fine.

It will probably happen again.
