It is going to be sooooo strange to be there as a guest! Bob is so excited. Two days at SAB!!!

Glad you were able to book the night you want! :thumbsup2

I think I would find it strange too being a guest if I worked there.

I need to go back through the thread and pick up any changes since Friday, so if you have posted dates since then, I will get to them later today. But first, a trip to school to drop off the middle schooler's homework.

Where is that Helicopter Parent smilie?

I swear I am going to get a DNA test for that boy to make sure he is mine! My husband and I are both extremely organized, but apparently this trait may have skipped a generation! :sad2:

Rant over!

Hello! Glad to see you're back and hope you are doing well. I have not caught up at all (will I ever?) but wanted to pop in to tell you all what a wonderful stay we had at the Beach Club. We had a deluxe CL room (3557) and while we missed the full balcony just a little bit, the view of the Boardwalk was lovely. The CL CM's were very helpful - I was so tired upon our arrival and it was so nice to be greetly warmly and helped with all our needs.

We LOVED Stormalong Bay, and of course the short walk to Epcot! What a terrific location...I can tell we will return. All of us wish we had had more time just playing in and around the pool. Still, the boys were keen for their 1 park day (at Epcot of course!) so we just managed time in late afternoon/early evening. With the yummy CL appetizers, we just "topped up" with a little something (and dessert!) at Beaches & Cream.

I can definitely see us returning and slowing down the pace so we can really, really enjoy the resort. And hopefully have a chance to meet you, Teena...we missed you by about an hour, I think!

And now I have a question. As I've said, we loved SAB, and had another couple of short but good pool visits later on in our vacation (after our 4 night Disney Dream cruise...it was a busy holiday!). We also stayed at the HArd Rock Hotel at Universal (had to do Harry Potter!). Warm water, some sandy beach, fun slide, movies by the pool...sound familiar? Well, definitely not as great, but good. This has inspired us to find something similar for our summer vacation...

So...we are from Toronto, Canada and hoping to find somewhere we could drive to - picture transporting the Beach Club someplace north, with similar level of luxury and a fun family pool area, maybe even a beach too. Enough to be busy when you want, but relaxing too. Good food available (OK, we know we can't match the restaurants of the World Showcase!). Does anyone have any ideas?

My husband just laughed when I was shopping around for ideas and said for the same money as one spot I looked at, we could stay at the BC with free dining. He noted that we would probably just melt in the heat. Of course there's still the issue of airfare, but it has me thinking...

We'll be back to WDW, but wanted to stay closer to home this summer. Any ideas?!?

Thank you!

I think it's only fair that since you have helped us so much with all things Beach Club, WE SHOULD HELP YOU!!!

Everyone should post their Beach Club "tips" that they think would be especially helpful to a Newby like Teena experiencing her first stay!

I'll start by warning Teena not to do advanced check in! Why risk being assigned a linen closet by LILO when you can pester the humans at the front desk for a FABULOUS Magic Kingdom View!

When you first arrive don't be surprised if the greeter is a little "off". There were unconfirmed reports last week that one of the greeters was more than a little confused and she thought she was working at Pop.

Here's another hot tip. Make sure Bob brings his PJ's, tighty whiteys and a bathing suit. Those unexpected trips to Walmart take up too much time from your vacation and there is nothing worse than a half dressed husband lounging around "au natural" when the entire family is in the room.

Book your ADR's immediately otherwise your big meal out will consist of one of those "lunchables" available from the Beach Club Market Place.

Please make sure that someone with a camera is waiting at the bottom of the slide at Storm Along Bay when you come down the first time. I'm sure many of us here would love to see the look on your face at THAT particular moment! :thumbsup2

Ok People! the rest of the important tips are left to YOU!!!
What does Teena need to know before she checks in on the mother ship?

Dee - Is your son 12? If so I have his long, lost sister separated at birth!
I was just getting laundry out of 12 year old dd's room. What did I see - her sports bag with her clothes and sneakers for after school track. I only asked her 10 times this morning if she packed her track bag.

I've long suspected she was switched at birth. I am super organized and a neat freak. Sadly dd is neither.

Marlton Mom - I'm laughing at your dh forgetting his clothes.

I used to make DH pack for himself since I packed for all the kids.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!

In 2009 we were spending 15 nights at BC and 4 nights in Hilton Head.
When I was unpacking I kept thinking I was missing a suitcase. Then I realized that DH had packed - 20 shirts, 2 pair of shorts, 2 bathing suits and 4 pair of boxers for the whole trip! We didn't even go off property so I ended up spending a small fortune restocking his clothes (plus doing laundry way more than I ever wanted to).

Now I pack for DH right along with the other kids!

I am so not allowed to pack for him despite multiple mess ups on his part. The worst is I will sit there and say did you pack ________ and his eyes will glaze over and he gets annoyed. Then we get there and Homeland Security has apparently run off with his bathing suit!

Well I haven't stayed at BC (Yet - I'll get that fixed as soon as possible), but I have stayed CR CL and WL CL, so I have some idea of the level of vacation you are looking for.

We're from Toronto too, and every summer we must do a week at Fern Resort (www.fernresort.com). The pool area is no SAB, but it does have a fabulous bar and plenty of relaxed entertainment. We love the available activities with no pressure to join, love the food and love the entertainment.

It is only a 90 minute drive from Toronto and of course, no airfare costs!

After the 2009 episode DH knows I laid down the law about packing. He used to be the "I can pack for myself" guy. Now we all know better!

Of course DH always moans about me overpacking. It didn't help when we stayed at the Airport Hotel one year and the shuttle driver asked if we were relocating to Florida!

Of course he forgets that I am packing for five people for two to three week vacations. After the "2009 packing incident" he doesn't say a word when I start putting the suitcases in the hallway!

Well I am sad to report that my May trip to BCV has been moved to BWV.:guilty::sad2: I know nothing about BWV but we had to more since the number of people has changed in our party and that is the only 1 bedroom we could get.:sad1:

I am so disappointed right now..... I wanted to stay BCV so bad and had everything planned out that I wanted to do and then a person that I will not name.... Decided to throw a wrench into my plans, and makes me change my resort...... UGHHHHHHH. Family what can I say...:headache:

:rotfl:

My DH used to "pack" for himself as well. Then he forgot to pack socks for a 10 day trip. Sure, that wouldn't be so bad, but he doesn't wear sandals... Now he is lucky if I even ask his opinion on what shirts he would like to bring :rolleyes1

I am also a big packer (thank you Southwest for continuing to let me bring 2 bags per person for free! :worship:) After an 11 day trip to WDW in November 2009, a lady actually stuck her head in my limo at the airport while the driver was trying to load our 6 suitcases and said she had to congratulate me on packing more than she does

Haven't been on in forever. Life got busy, but just wanted to say again, how wonderful the first page is. I enjoyed getting on today and just scrolling through all those great pictures and information!! thanks again!! We have 52 days until we leave (driving so won't get there until the next night late) but we are so excited!!

as for the 12yo. Well, I've determined that's the life of a 12yo. My oldest are 12 and 14 now, good kids, usually remember things but sometimes..... LOL

oh and on the DH and packing, mine used to pack his own clothes too, but I stopped him, not because he forgot things but because he packs "like a girl" way to much that he'll never wear (and he is not one that is fashion conscious) When his bag was twice the size of mine, I just started packing it myself :)

So don't hold out on us! Fess up on those ditching the cranky "loved" ones tips!

~MM

Option #1: Leave him in a cigar bar or tequila bar, attempt the ladies room method just after leaving the bartender with a hefty tip for "another round."

Option #2: Beg him to go shopping with you for the "perfect dress/shoes/underwear/perfume/etc." He will usually find a way to lose himself.
